I had a fun bug yesterday where I took just too long of a dive, ragdolled into being prone, and was then able to move full speed while prone.

No crawljng animation, just kinda sliding around, really. It was very funny!

So far, my favorite loadout right now is HMG, with Explosive Crossbow, Guard Dog, MG Turret, and a Laser Orbital. The HMG can take down shields in 10-15% ammo, then 1 crossbow bolt to the entrance and the base ship is dead. The guard dog helps a ton with patrol bots and fodder. MG turret is quick cooldown and great for thinning the hoard. The laser orbital is to help with heavies and helps with a 'get out dodge' when too many enemies.

Still not sure about side arm. I'm not sure the heavy pistol is needed. EMP grenades seem like the best option? But I'm still playing around with them as well.

I mean, if you're just wanting to stun/disorientate enemies with stun grenades, then might I suggest gas grenades?

They blow up bug holes, fabricators, and landed UFOs now!

I'll check them out, not sure I've unlocked them yet.

Anyone know where super samples are for the Illuminate? Just played a lvl 8 with some high levels and it went fine, but no super samples.

standard rock same as any other mission. You'll likely have to check outside the main target area, as it won't spawn in the city.

Latest patch - good to see priorities firmly in order:

    Known Issues
These are issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed.

    Top Priority:

Players are unable to emote when flying through the air

I'm curious to see if they'll buff the Illuminate or just wait till they can release more of their units. Right now, they seem like the easiest faction by far. But they are missing some key units from the first game. The obelisk would be terrifying, since kiting the voteless works pretty well right now, but if it shows up and puts up a wall... They are also missing their floating MC units. They've moved that into the tower right now, it'll be interesting to see if they also keep their projectiles having that effect. They are also missing their snipers, which could introduce a bit of a "wall" effect.

I'm really not going to judge till we see the full faction. They're so limited right now.

And honestly despite that on d10 they're still plenty threatening - Aerial Overseers will murk folks real fast, Harvesters demand respect, and there's so many voteless you can't stint on hoard clear.

    It's good!

I would third the not judging until we see more of their units. So far in what little time I have had to run against them they seem fun but a bit lacking on the heavies. I don't think I have seen any of their sorceror type units yet or other stuff that were in helldivers 1 so I think it is way to early to tell.

And those fast lil flying drones hey look he is over here going this way! And it is going to get weirder. In helldivers 1 a lot of their bigger boss type space magic users had teleport abilities I believe so expect them to keep up with you pretty easily as well.

With RR vs Harvesters, I’d recommend shooting a hip, even if you hit a different part of the leg they’ll still go down with one shot

I’d only take it on rocket defense though, can drop the flying saucers and then pop Harvesters if they get through.

  • Phoenix-DPhoenix-D Registered User regular
The Spear can kill incoming dropships without waiting for them to open. Makes it hilarious on base defense if you can get a team reload going.

Hubris, thy name is Helldiver. Doing a Suicide Run with the Illuminate. The level 54, 35, and 42 guys have all died 3-4 times, and my lvl 28 self hasn't yet. I also found the super samples as well as a dozen other samples. We're heading to extraction and I'm feeling really good. Next thing I know, a huge explosion goes off behind me, rag dolling me towards a giant rock. It startled me so much, my finger slipped and I shot a exploding bolt at the rock just as I hit it, gibbing myself lol.

Tried the anti material rifle today. First time I took a weapon that felt like it was effective against those Arbiter looking dudes. Gotta hit their jet packs though, they still take 4 or 5 shots to the face.

the overseers have particularly strong helmets, it's their most armored part I think

    BahamutZERO.gif
  • NobodyNobody Registered User regular
If the AMR hits the head it is a one-shot, but it can be hard to hit if they are already moving and you may end up hitting an arm or the body instead.

Overseers have ablative armor, you can actually blow it off and reveal that the flesh underneath is a dark blue black.

It's a really cool touch. Purifier in general fucks them up as a result - one overcharge shot into a single normal bullet = dead.

Or you can just double overcharge to wipe out clusters of them

    ... Also fun, horrifying fact.

Harvesters are only heavies. That is there the same category as Chargers & Hulks. Yeah.

We have no idea what the Elite (Tank/Factory Striders/impaler/Bt) looks like yet! Get excited, helldivers!

you can get through their helmets but it's got the highest armor rating of any of their parts, I mean. I think you need AT tier penetration for it like the AMR has, or at least heavy pen like the HMG maybe.

More testing with the laser cannon was mixed. On one hand it’s way easier to use vs the MG/HMG especially from distance. On the other hand, it takes twice as long at least to take down shields, which can kill you as the voteless swarm.

Took the grenade launcher down for a test run. It does well against everything until they start flying. No shock, but a turret is advisable.

Think I'm settling into this for my squid loadout:

    Crossbow
    Redeemer
    Gas Grenades
Medium Engineering (don't have new warbond yet)
    MG-43 Machine Gun
    Gatling Turret
    MG Turret
    Eagle Strafing Run

Kills squid fabs with strafing run+crossbow
Double turret and gas grenades helps keep Voteless off of me while I MG/Crossbow down Overseers
MG burns through shields and snips off legs on Harvesters.

So we have crossover ocntent in the Superstore.

The prices are, well, they're something.

    jtq1t96nqbv1.png

Second page coming on the 23rd, apperntly.

Arrowhead is also testing a new approach to the superstore and the amount it displays
Meanwhile, on the subject of the Superstore: in the interests of relentless democracy, we regularly run surveys on discord and reddit. Based on your feedback, we feel we can improve how the Superstore currently works.

Right now, many of you feel the items are in rotation for too short a time, and that you sometimes miss out on that killer look you had your eyes on. At the same time, the more things we add to the store the longer it takes to come back into rotation.

As we’re not quite ready to roll out a full redesign, we’re going to temporarily test longer rotations with Killzone, which will stick around for 5 days per page instead (there will be two pages of items to explore).

Gotta be honest, this sticks in my craw. If it was a warband? Fuck i'd have thrown them a 20 happily already. But 615 super credits for a gun is a wee bit mad, to say the least. another 500 if you want the armor (and it's a damn good passive, 50% resist to Gas, Fire, Electric & Acid damage). ASnd given it's not a warbond, no 300 SC refund in it.

Smacks of sony influence. We'll see how the fanbase reacts as a whole (I expect them to have a completely normal one)

Love the items but it’s just too expensive, especially for part 1/2. I don’t understand why this wasn’t a warbond. It feels like they’ve been increasing the prices on the superstore: the Jin-Roh inspired armor that came out together with Truth Enforcers was also expensive.

    NoRegretsForOurYouth on
  • Trajan45Trajan45 Registered User regular
Yeah putting weapons directly in the store is moving in to shitty territory. The store has mostly been cosmetic since you could get the combo of armor traits elsewhere. Even if the crossover stuff is expensive, I can see where folks who have been playing for awhile may have a surplus of super credits just from the game and warbonds, so having a 1st run be expensive then a 2nd run less so, I could at least see the logic.

YouTubers testing the Killzone crossover stuff generally say the gun isn’t really worth the price tag but armor likely is.

The new WASP launcher is pretty nice against aerial enemies. Low magazine size and slow reload, plus it needs a backpack. And it doesn't take down dropships. But for free, to easily kill Overseers? Sure, why not?

Oh, it also kills Harvesters pretty easily. You still want to drop their shield first though.

Crossover stuff should be free, why should we pay real money for a commercial.

Ignoring the price, putting it in superstore instead of a warbond is off-putting.
    Warbond is there forever.
Superstore rotation adds FOMO which I dislike.

It's a step in wrong direction but I'm not going riot over it like reddit probably will.

Hard for me to be angry since every warbond has been free for me without needing to grind for it. I've ignored superstore until now and this will be no different
