Hey Morskittar, we were chatting it up in vent last night and I was curious. Given the following four hypothetical server types, which one do you think TSM would end up on? Hopefully the chips land in the right places for us to play in the same place, I had a great time with the Beasts on Ravenholdt WoW.
Classic RvR
Classic RvR RP
Open RvR*
Open RvR* RP
*= guilds may or may not be limited to order or destruction

I need to see the rule lists. No way I'm going to do Open RvR server if its anything like WoW's PvP servers. Simply not worth the headache, especially with as much PvP opportunity as there is on the standard server rule set. I love you guys but I don't love you enough to go through that crap.

What didn't / don't you like about that sort of setup? The only things that bugged me were pvp groups outside of instances and the repeated killing of quest turn-in NPCs, everything else seemed fine and dandy.
At least two Gamestops in the Dallas area had the Pre-Order CE sheets in, and managed to pick mine up. Wasn't having any success when I went looking this weekend, so they must have just arrived yesterday/today.

Sometimes I just want to complete my quest, or level my guy, instead of being endlessly camped by people whom I have no hope of defeating in combat. My favorite thing about DAoC was it clearly had PvP areas and clearly had PvE areas. This is the default setup of WAR, though in some zones PvE can actually see PvP down in the valley (or whatever) going at it. They are separate but can join in on the fun by entering the PvP area.

This seems like enough for me.
Although it may be that it ends up being the same on open RvR. I would imagine there are things to lure players to those areas is they want PvP.
After leveling in Stranglethorn Vale I have no idea how people think PvP servers is a good idea. I'm reasonably sure there are more level 70ies in StV at any time than there is people actually leveling there. While open PvP sounds fine and dandy in theory, it has a tendency to suck balls in practice. Heck, even EVE, the game with more open PvP than any other has "safe" areas(Yes, I realize they can still gank you, but they'll die in return, and in EVE, dying is a bit more of an obstacle than other games, meaning the Empire is actually pretty safe).
Perhaps if the chicken thing works it will be more pvp on an even footing (Of course then I just see the enemy bringing 5 people to corpse camp me instead). Although I almost prefer the sound of the normal server, because it has loads of pvp as well as places to go when I just want to do my own thing without being bothered.
For the next thread title once the info is released, we either need the animated gif of Zerowing edited all the way through "In the year 2008, WAR was beginning..."
Oh even better. Get the exact quote from the Futurama episode where Fry and Bender sign up for the military to try and get their military discount. The thread title will be "WAR were declared" and the front page picture after the dialog is the Recruiter with a picture of an Orc displayed in the one corner.
Guys, guys, we have been down this server ruleset road like what, 4 times now? We don't know what the server rulesets are going to be, or how they will be implemented.

Yeah, once they define the rule sets we'll do the poll again.

I was asking about WoW really, that's one thing we do know and I was just asking him what he didn't like about that server setup.

I really like that the CE people get 12 extra head models to choose from for their character. Its a subtle thing, but its a really nice bonus.
Oh, and as a side note: I went ahead and got my Bonus cards with the Beta code today. That means I have 1 extra code right now. Once the beta starts if all of my local friends got their beta codes, I'll be glad to give it out to someone on here.

Well played sir...
It's the [tiny]second[/tiny] FINAL COUNTDOWN!
Good.
All is going according to plan.

Skaven arent in WAR right now.
Not much. Tomorrow. Yes. Supposedly.
For being confused, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

We did some chatting about this a while back and it seems most TSM members (the ones that voted atleast) wanted Open RVR.
We'll be on an Open server as well (assuming they exist), and preferably an RP one as well (assuming they exist).

EDIT: Also, Gamespy put up a new article today: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/warhammer-online/860896p1.html
EDIT 2: NEVERMIND. Gamespy just apparently hasn't updated their site yet from when it was posted on IGN...
