i played with Merch I and it was just "hey guys let's mine" 24/7. And if you try to go out to kill people you die, and then people scream at you if you die because that's apparently bad for them and not for you.
and it's just mine mine mine
i gave EVE 20 bucks and all i got was a twenty dollar hole in my bank account.
How long ago? We're a part of GoonSwarm now, not much mining, many more delicious tears.
Months? Hahaha. You can be useful after less than a day, if your teammates aren't stuck-up elitist faggots.
useful as fodder
lvl3 frigate is useless against a damn tricked cruiser
much less a BC
Put on a web and scrambler, you'll do more good than three pimped-out cruisers in a nice fight. And your ships are effectively free.
Pretty much all of January of this year. Everytime I asked someone where I need to go to join this big fight thing, I was asked what my skills and stuff were, and then I was told I'd need to wait probably another month before being useful.
I spent the last week or two just logging on to change skills because that's what was suggested to me by my "mentor."

If somebody says newbies aren't useful, call them a spy and insult their mother.

Even if they don't say that, do it anyway
Hell just do it whenever you feel like
1) I know it's hard to believe, but really, you are useful in group PvP day 1. One on one, not so much.
2) I've never really played that much, so someone to take my hand is nice.
3) After you finish the first few missions and put in the travel time to get near friends, you can really do whatever. No "months of training time" unless you refuse to play without being in a big ship.
I liked playing the market. I was a little restricted by range, but I could make a decent amount of money on autopilot.
I had gotten a guy even newer than me to play security so I could do some decent mining without a corp, but quit before we implemented it. It wouldn't have been much, but enough for me to get a decent mining ship pretty quick while I trained some combat skills.
but good lord this is the epitome of boring grindfest
what
you don't have to grind at all
ALSO: something that is nice about this game is the incredible curve in finances so pretty much every time I re-trial someone is willing to give me what is an enormous amount of money for me but nothing for them
I'm tempted to just reactivate my account. I'm broke, because I gave all of my money away, but I have a few week's worth of skills.
If you guys want to group up, I could make us a decent amount of money for starters. I'm pretty sure I outfit a few people faster then you'll get the skills once I get the money to re-buy my gear, at least until you start to specialize.

oh hey here's 5 mil isk
basically
and money is everything for a new character
also my new ship can do the Kessel Run in just over 14 parsecs

money is fairly meaningless for a new player
I could afford a tier 4 frigate and applicable weapons in less than a day with no mining

I love EVE
it has amazing graphics
it has an amazing corp system with actual wars going on right now
it has players mounting huge raids on enemy bases and destroying ships worth thousands of real dollars
it has a great community
unfortunately I am ADD with massively multiplayer games and thus got bored with it ten days in.
Travel time is not that bad if you leave autopilot off
Set your course, warp to 0 at a gate, warp, and repeat
I went from one of the newb areas to Hosh in not very long at all
From a newb area to wherever the Goons' Ryc'roll station was was only like an hour, tops
has even one of you played this with SE folk before
NO, PROBABLY NOT
nothing is boring if done with good company
yeah now all we have to rely on is the fact that more than 2 of us will be on the same solar system as anyone else
where are you?
sector XI
where the hell is that?
like across the universe
ooh ok I'll be right there
IN 5 HOURS
seriously if they cut down the travel time it would be a lot better
well i mean that's true the first time but after that there are only so many places that goonswarm/merchi is fighting at once so odds are it's more like "where are you" "uu vxii" "where the fuck is that - oh nevermind that's two jumps be there in ten minutes"
I played this game with the Goons. pretty good stuff. Their old leader had some pretty amazing speeches considering it was, you know, internet spaceships.
Long-distance travel in EVE is accomplished by killing yourself. I'm not even joking, you set your clone where you want to be, then self-destruct, and wake up somewhere else.
Shit the Ryc'roll station was literally one jump from 1DP or whatever the fuck the shorthand was for the galaxy they were working on when I played
So just get some contracts and extra ships
Set Ryc as your respawn and bam there you are
Clone jumping makes it even easier if other people help out with ISK
Also Minmatar 4 lyfe son
Rifter fuck yes

Just buy more frigates.
We still set people's in-game title to "Wiggin" when they've done something tremendously stupid.
Not gonna fly with Merch or the Goons

I really wanted to get into this game, but man, I had more fun picking dingleberries out of my dogs ass when it got sick.

This is not factual.
You just need to be able to tolerate oppressive boredom for hours on end.

it's not about skill, it's about investing the months and months it takes to level up your abilities
lasers

fuck yes
On the black screen
Star Wars Galaxies? Well, the hits were issues by the server but it was just as easy to hire someone to scan for the mission.
Or where the lame "fetch quests" are made by other players.
Or where if you're to lazy to get your own crap, you can just make a lame "fetch quest" and let some noob do it for you.
