What do you guys have your in-game mouse sensitivity at? I've been trying all sorts of different values from 10ish to 16. I get the feeling some of you use, like, 4 or something, but I don't know how.
I've got all acceleration and smoothing and whatnot off and I'm trying to find something that will make it slightly easier to get up to the level of "very bad" on sniper.
I don't know why it's taken me months to finally get around to doing this tweaking.

Hearing what sensitivities we have them set to is not going to help one bit. It's different for every mouse really. I switched mice, and I had to up my sensitivity afterwards.
For you though, try messing with this in the console, "zoom_sensitivity_ratio". You can tweak that value so the mouse is less sensitive just while you're sniping. I have mine set to 0.4.
If I understand correctly, the zoom_sensitivity_ratio is dependent on your sensitivity. So if your sensitivity is at 10, and your ratio is set to 0.4, your sensitivity while sniping would be 4. Is this correct?
I've also got an experimental script that would theoretically change your sensitivity as you scrolled your mouse wheel. I figured something like this would not be considered too cheap, as there are fuggin' mice out there that already do this for you. I haven't tested it yet, so it may not work.
// Mouse wheel sensitivity idea?
alias wSens10 "alias WUSens wSens10; alias WDSens wSens9; sensitivity <100%>"

You'd have to replace all the <100%> with your preferred sensitivities (Like 10, 9, 8, 7, etc...). For me, I was only planning on having four settings, with the max being my usual sensitivity, and the minimum being 40% of my usual sensitivity, and 60% and 80% being in between. To do this, you'd just have to delete the extra aliases, and change the cap to alias itself. For example, in my case, I would delete wSens10 through 5, and then I'd change wSens4 to the following...
alias wSens4 "alias WUSens wSens4; alias WDSens wSens3; sensitivity <100%>"

ok, this next bit of advice I find essential.
With your mouse surface, tweak your sensitivity so that if you move your mouse completely along the mouse pad's equator line, you circle 360 degrees ingame. Put this sensitivity inside your sniper.cfg. Now, for your zoom sensitivity. Set your zoom sensitivity ratio so that when you move along the equator of your mousepad, your scope FOV moves from say the 10'o clock position to the 2 o clock position. This sensitivity can accomodate most targets even scouts.
That is my personal sniper calibration method which leads right behind the enemy base
Hmm. I just have mine at default. I find that as soon as I start tweaking little things like that, I start second-guessing myself and blaming my mouse, rather than blaming myself.
Man... I wanted to go home and throw down some more scout tonight...
But, I haven't even opened FFTA2; and I want to spend time playing EO2.
I also have to learn how to play Civ4 by Friday afternoon for a lan party... hrmm...

the point is my way makes it really difficult to do that jittery nonsense whilst clicking; if you get in the zone(which I do by accosting your collective spouses) your reaction times and jitteriness drops, and with this you become the online equivalent of a shamwow, instead of absorbing liquids, you sponge the souls of your vanquished foes
This is 19.99 on Steam, right? I have Orange Box on 360, but the TF2 population is simply not there.
I am tempted to pick it up for the computer box. Is it pretty sweet?
No, it's terrible, there's no support, there's barely a community, updates are lagging behind, everyone on PA plays on... wait... Oh! For the PC! Yes, very sweet. Very very sweet indeed. Buy nao.

I just set mine to 20, then got used to it. I can hit everything pretty decently (I mean when I don't miss by not aiming at the enemy)
The registry value can be found in regedit, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\MouseSensitivity. Also, acceleration screws it up, not sure how to measure that.
some one get off Jobs server right now! i aint kidding! i wanna play!
the girlfriend called and made me start up a marinade for dinner. i did it and then pissed and then sat down. as my hand was moving towards the keyboard i was kicked by console.
The Backburner is so stupid. I can't believe how much it pisses me off.
I know, it's so terrible. I tried it again for a little while last night, quickly remembered what it was like to actually be afraid of Soldiers, and went right back to the Flamethrower.

The best thing is watching a pyro trying to deflect your rockets back at you. It's so easy to mess up their timing and hit them between air bursts.
Extra points if the rocket you hit them with is a crit!

I love the Backburner. Nothing like extra crispy medics and heavies.

Pyro achievements suck. They made demoman a very difficult class to play because it takes 3 pipe hits to kill one, or a number of stickies which end up with you damaging or killing yourself. :x

And yes, that's just for when you are scoped.

I'm losing my mind.

Again, just a warning, I haven't tested this yet.
Keep up the good work!
The scariest part though was when
Counter-Strike habits die hard, I guess.

Mouse DPI * Windows Multiplier(Registry value / 10 IIRC) * m_yaw or m_pitch * sensitivity = Degrees/Inch
For me, that's: 800 * 1 * .022 * 3 = 52.8 degrees/inch

If your into 4x strategy games, Civ4 is fun but addicting. Be careful of one more turn syndrome. If you do get it, there's always help.

i have no idea why.

Fatty Flamestabs...would be a badass name. *Ponders*
It always kills me in 0.2 seconds. Ugh.
