Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.
"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
Yeah, definitely crazy ol' Bush with a fun-pouch.
I think you're misinterpreting that quote. People who believe in God always want everything they do to be the will of God. It doesn't make America messianic, it's just America doing the right thing, and she's asking people to pray please God I hope this is the right thing to do don't let us fuck this up. I do not find that an unreasonable position, even though I am no fan of Pentecostals and Charismatics.
Really, it's not like she had a campaign ad standing on an altar saying she was ready to do the Lord's work.
Because that would be crossing the line, right?

McCain just pulled out of Larry King's interview tonight, because they felt that Campbell Brown was "over the line" last night when questioning Tucker whoever about Palin's experience.
Are you. fucking. serious.

It's a lesson in how dangerous a power vacuum is for a political party. If we went back to 2005, you would see bandied about for the 08 slot names like Frist, Jeb, Santorum, and DeLay. But with the scandal-fueled corruption bringing down the major players in GOP, it opened a vacuum for control of the party. Had McCain gained control through acclamation, things would have blown over. But because he won basically by being the last man standing, his victory did nothing to contol the vacuum. The result is that the three wings of the GOP are trying to assert themselves in the McCain campaign, and because of that, they're making some really stupid mistakes, like the fundies forcing McCain to pick someone they wanted.

At this point I'd be surprised if they didn't bail on 60 Minutes this week too.
It really is remarkable how quickly this whole thing is going down in flames. All Obama has to do is hold the line between now and November and we're home free.

This is what happens when you aren't questioned by the media for nine years. He feels entitled to great press and this pick is so ridiculous the media ain't buying his bullshit anymore. Hopefully Larry says so on air because that would be hilarious.

McCain had it coming after the free pass the media after primary season ended. If the past week was a sandwich it would be the most delicious sandwich ever made. Misery and despair taste sooo good.

I just heard about this from my mom, along with Guiliani opting out of speaking at the convention. She thinks his entire campaign, no, the Republican party is coming completely apart at the seams.
This must be what karma feels like.

All I know is that SOME god must be behind all this.
It requires a sentient mind to engineer a political beatdown of this level.
Everything that can be done wrong, the Republican party is doing wrong. Seriously, they can't be this stupid on purpose, can they?

It's worked so well for you guys in the past after all...
EDIT: Nevermind. Ignoring you is best.
I'm just saying, I heard nearly exactly that (verbatim) four years ago. And then four years before that.
Except Bush was never really behind in the polls.
This year, they're running a burnt-out husk of a candidate attempting to use his history as a "maverick" to snow the public and the press, and failing utterly because they don't have their muppeteer with his hand up the candidate's ass.
It also helps that the dems have someone who has some actual charisma, to go with the solid platform.

Since when did your spokesperson self-destructing on national TV count as the anchor going "over the line"?

No, but seriously, that isn't the same girl.
I know. When I liked to the photos a few pages back, I commented that I didn't think they were actually pictures of Bristol.
Look, I'm not sexist, I'm just saying they all look alike! I have lots of teenaged girl friends! ... wait, I didn't mean it like that, shit!

Take a drink every time Bristol does? (yeah, that was tacky, but hey, it was worth a joke..)
I'm going with 9/11, since the time to 9/11 in the platform was the first page.

Hey buddy, going okay.
Why would I kill myself if we lose, do you even know how refreshing it will be to blame everything bad that happens on the other party for once?
