I think talking about other phallas in a new phalla should be taboo.
Sort of like going OOC on an RPG Server. Not exactly like that, but close.
except it's nothing like that
here's what you do when people starting meta gaming and you don't like it: you make arguments based on the current game and tell people to fuck off about the meta stuff

It is often somewhat-relevant chatter to pass the Day One duldrums. More importantly, though, it can be a valid and useful tool in determining the suspiciousness of someone--patterns can be identified over games and in certain roles.
Although, there is some discussion about previous Phallas that I would be perfectly happy seeing fall by the wayside.

anyone new posting in [chat] is accused of being an alt
that's pretty cliqueish
yeah it's pretty bad.
not quite as vicious as SE seems to be sometimes, but it can be terrifying for new peoples
i honestly don't remember how i started posting in chat
you get ignored the first few times you post usually
then people start talking to you
then you reveal personal information that makes you more interesting
the best way is to say you have a vagina
or that you fuck other dudes
if you say you fuck other women that might be interpreted as trying to be interesting

Chat is pretty cliquish. I joined PA years ago. Talked in G&T mostly, then G&T Chat. When that ended, I had gotten a new job and was really busy with life anyway so I stopped posting or even looking at PA for a while. I came back, and started reading D&D a lot. Then I started reading this thread, a lot. A while before I ever posted in it.
So it's like day one I post and I'm like "Oh that MikeMan and his shenannigans." and everyone is like, "Who are you?"*
*not a true story but an example of a new guy knowing too much about a place.
But anyway, there definately is a cliquish nature about chat. But it's not BAD. You just have to have thick skin and barge your way in.

If a GM wants to forbid discussion of other phallas in their phalla, that's up to them.
Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, we don't have some kind of Phalla Council that hands down judgments about what is acceptable or unacceptable.

Sorry, Elldren, Thanatos threw his toys at us and went home.
Hey, Douchey McGee, this is more like I showed up at what I was told was a baseball game with a bat and a mitt, only to find out that what it actually is is a roundtable discussion on baseball games that had been played by other people at the table.
It's not my fault you and your neurotic, cliqueish, socially retarded Phalla fanatics have turned the game from a fun little forum game into something akin to an anime convention, which makes me embarrassed to admit I've ever enjoyed playing it.
First, your analogy is bad. You showed up to a baseball game where we talk about other baseball games while playing baseball. There is phalla going on there (right now, in fact).
Secondly, I think the fact that we get oodles of new players all the fucking time makes it pretty clear that we're not cliquish. Somehow they manage to fit it just fine, even with all the referencing other phallas and whatnot. Nobody picks on the new people; in fact, people are encouraged not to kill off new people early in the game, so they get a chance to play. Some people take it too seriously, but guess what, there are people like that in every group. Honestly, [chat] is WAAAAY more cliquey than phalla, and you don't seem to have a problem posting here.
If it's not the game you want to play anymore, fine. Nobody has a problem with you not liking it anymore. What you did, though, was show up to our baseball game, realize that we're spending a lot of time talking about baseball and not focusing on the game as much, and then throw a tantrum before leaving.
It's only a baseball game in some strange, alternate world where baseball games are scored based on what the teams did in previous games. Which, you know, isn't baseball.
And I don't think Chat is cliquey at all. However, really, unless you're willing to play in basically every phalla, ever, it's pretty much become impossible to enjoy the game on this board, and that's been a condition created by the people who do nothing but play Phalla on these boards. Which means that in every thread, all they talk about is what happened in Phalla. It's like playing D&D with a group that spends 9/10ths of its time talking about what their characters have done in past games, so that you don't actually get to play the fucking game. It's fucking boring if you're not one of the people who play it obsessively, which is, frankly, pretty fucking creepy. I really don't see any reason why we should even be hosting the games here, given that you could all play it way better on your own boards, where you could have as many threads for every game as you want. You could have a thread for voting, a thread for discussion, another thread for all the chatter about other games. I mean, obviously, the thread for the chatter about other games would be at a couple of hundred pages before the other threads hit double-digits, but still, it would work pretty well.
And I would hardly call two sentences explaining that I was leaving and why I was leaving a "tantrum." In fact, I felt I was being pretty sportsmanlike and fair by just deciding "okay, clearly this isn't for me anymore," and leaving before I started making the game less fun for other people. If I wanted to throw a tantrum, I would have really just decided to make the game as shitty for everyone else as it was for me. Fuck, if I hadn't ego-searched and found you being a snarky little bitch, I wouldn't have even talked about it at all anymore, but I was being fucking magnanimous about it, and you decided to be a fucking twat.
Or you can never actually say anything about it but have someone leak personal information from a phalla proboard they were admining that you signed up for.

This is absolutely true. If a new guy comes into [chat] (or even someone who's been around for awhile but nobody really knows) and starts acting familiar, people are all "who are you to be making those kinds of comments?" I know for sure that I'm like that; there's a sort of introductory period where you have to be sort of passive otherwise people think you're too big for your britches and start hating you.
