I got excited and just tried popping in Castle in the Sky pal into my PS3, and it says it doesn't support Pal DVDs.

    This makes me sad. Again.

Well, it's region-free for games, it may as well do the same for movies.

Only for PS3 and PSN games. PS2 and PS1 disc games are still region locked.

Well, I have my computer back. Apologies for the wait guys and thanks to Diarmuid for helping out in the interim. Diarmuid, you are a solid gent. After I post this, I'm going to fix the OP and then fix up the list of upcoming games (thanks Unco!) and then we should be back in binness.

Edit: And as of this edit, the upcoming games should be more up-to-date. Added every game Unco mentioned while trying to find at least a screenshot or two and a trailer for each. I may have gotten a release date or two wrong, so do feel free to point it out if that's the case. And if there's any other upcoming game that should be on there, do let me know!

Ah cool, would've gone through them yesterday but I've been insanely tired over the last couple of days (and decided that I'm not really going to post on these forums too much anymore but eh).

Only problems I could spot were the release dates for some of the older games. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Retro/Grade to be exact. Just make them TBA 2011, since I've not heard any new release dates for them. Otherwise, looks great to me.

Oh and I'm not sure if this was your intention but if you don't want the videos embedded, you can actually use the [vidurl] tags.

Anyway, got Braid on special, decided to pick up Amiki Village and still haven't been refunded the money from the BG&E HD price fuck up. Can't believe even after that, they still managed to fuck up the price on the Mortal Kombat DLC. SCEE's PS Store team are so incompetent it's not funny. And they wonder why the PSN can't turn a profit, despite having a complete monopoly on their system. Fucking laughable.

No worries. I'm just grateful I had a list of games to look up, since if left to my own devices to find some games, I wouldn't have come up with half of what you pointed out for me. Fixed those two dates, so that's good. I hadn't really even thought of whether to embed or not embed the vids, but as long as they're not a problem for anyone, it's probably good as is. But if you guys want, I can switch the tags to links instead of embeds.

So the TMNT remake game is de-listing on PSN and XBLA on the 30th due to license ending.
If the remake was actually any good it would be a good time to buy it. =\

Yes, extremely annoying. Some government ministry with an overly long name has them making sure their stuff is in order, I think. That's why it is taking longer to get it back up.

Yeah, but their criteria for 'working' seems, from the outside at least, to be crazy stringent.
But if it means a more secure network for everyone it can't be a bad thing.

Pretty big week actually! Not only does the Uncharted 3 MP Beta start for us (Well, Plus users, which should still be a big majority of people), but there's Beyond Good & Evil HD, and the PSP Twin-Pack games start this week. For those not in the know, they're basically putting the bigger PSP games together in twin-packs for $15 bucks (UMD Versions and DD Versions) for everyone to, I guess, catch up on in anticipation of Vita or something. Which, if you'd want to do that, go the DD version, obviously. Not too bad of a deal, honestly.

Together seems like it would make more sense. With other games, that's kind of silly to me.

I was also going to post the comic update, but it's not up yet. And there was never one last week. Uhhh...

Oh, I agree. I did the research on what titles they still didn't have up there. WTF: No Kingdom Hearts BBS? Squenix, seriously. You Mad?

Yeah, by my count they still don't have Star Ocean, Star Ocean 2, KH BBS, FFVII Crisis Core and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth up on it. Hopefully War of the Lions is a sign they're going these now and putting them on the store. It'd be nice to actually play Birth By Sleep (since I avoid UMD releases like the plague).

Those Dissidia avatars sure look tempting...

I'm fairly certain that Birth By Sleep will not show up as a direct download in the near future (perhaps as a Vita game, but not for the current PSP generation). It does some funky things with the memory stick install that precludes being able to play it as a direct download game.

Hmmm. That's sad. Oh well, more money for XSEED and Falcom it is.

Installs? It's not the only PSP game that does that. Valkyria Chronicles 2 for one, and it's on the PSN.

Right. A lot of games do memory stick installs. But Birth By Sleep does something funky with theirs. For one thing, there are three separate options for it instead of just one generic "install file". I think it also installs some of the content in non-standard directorie. It also has some sort of UMD-exclusive DRM on it.

BBS just lets you select how big of an install file you want. I think other games do the same thing, I believe Dissidia is one of them even.

Yeah I seriously doubt there's any technical problems stopping it from getting a PSN release. I mean, you really think Square Enix would've built a DRM into it that can't be easily removed but not into any of their other PSP releases? Yeah, I seriously doubt it.

Chances are, they just didn't give enough of a shit to clear the license with Disney for the extra release. But with the Vita's release coming up, I imagine the money grab will be tempting enough to go through with it. Unless they're idiots... Which is always a possibility while Wada's in charge.

Here I thought I missed something since I didn't see your comic store post. Good to know I'm not going crazy.

So for someone who already has the PS2 version of BGaE, is the new HDified version something I should consider?

It's nothing funky at all and the install is optional. It's nothing unlike all the other install-option games already on the PSN. They just give you three versions of the install choice.

The problem is, that neither of the blogs have posted one this week and the NA blog didn't bother with one last week. Thankfully(?) there's a Blog at the comic site proper. Of course, there's a Country selector for non-NA countries, where the line up might be different. This weeks US/UK posts look identical, so I'll just post it as is.

Hey, got a question for you guys.

So we've got our ps3 hooked up via hdmi. I've been playing way too much ME2 and everything looks great. But when we play some psn games, occasionally we lose signal to the tv. It comes back pretty quick, but it's really obnoxious and only happens with psn games. Anyone else experience this?

Mine does that, too. No idea what it's about. Doesn't seem to hurt anything though.

I'm 80% percent sure that it's the cable you're using. Make sure its secured, and if its not secured, make sure there's no cut and/or frays along the cable. Cut wires will work intermittently like that if they're still touching. Also, the quality of the cable matters to some extent. More conductive metals carry the signal better, so if you bought the cable at a thrift store, you might have some issues.

If its not the cable, you might want to hook up something to the TV other than your PS3 just to make sure it's not the TV. If its neither of those things, its the PS3.

I always assumed it was a momentary hiccup where the PS3 went from displaying the XMB to loading and displaying the game. Pretty sure my cable is seated correctly, but I'll take a look tonight. Weird thing is, that just like Cokebottle, it only seems to happen with games that are stored on the HDD (just noticed it with Infamous a couple days ago).
