Mr. Obama said in an interview Friday that he was unconcerned with Palin's attacks on his decision to announce that in most cases the United States will not use nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear country.

"Last I checked, Sarah Palin's not much of an expert on nuclear issues," he said.

Palin shot back in her comments Thursday, mocking the president for "the vast nuclear experience that he acquired as a community organizer." She said that his alleged experience had not helped him make progress in the issue with Iran and North Korea.
How is that supposed to rebut anything?

Because Obama was once a community organizer, and obviously hasn't had any form of worldview-broadening experiences since then. By the same logic Palin herself is relegated to nothing more than a beauty pageant loser, though I'm sure that's completely lost on her.

Plus just writing that she talked about Iran is treating her with kid gloves. I'm sure the exact quote was more like what you'd expect from a beauty pageant contestant: "I think the reason the Obama doesn't want nukes is that some Americans out there don't have nukes, so with our common sense we shouldn't try to stop countries like the Iran from having nukes, and North Korea like such as the Asian countries and everywhere like such as, to help build up our free market future which is the kids."

I also enjoy the fact that Palin criticized Obama for advancing non-proliferation work, gets hit back and forgets the original argument when she responds by criticizing his failure to accomplish any non-proliferation work with N. Korea and Iran.

Yeah, it's not like Obama went into places like Columbia University and Harvard, and it's not like he worked significantly on nuclear issues while being a Senator of the United States. No, it was from community organizer to President of the U.S. Nothing in between.

Of course, what could compare to the vast experience Sarah Palin gained from her bachelor's degree in communications after going through four colleges. And truly, the nuclear legislation she partaked in as the Mayor of Wasilla and half-term governor of Alaska are extensive indeed.

Palin criticized Obama on foreign policy, too -- arguing, as conservative commentator Liz Cheney did the night before, that his administration shunned Afghanistan President Karzai (even though Karzai threatened to join the Taliban). "They treated the Afghan President Karzai poorly, and they faked surprise when he reacted in kind."
Being mad at massive election fraud is the equivalent of threatening to join your sworn enemy?
Palin recycled many of the lines and jokes she's given over the last two months. "How's that hopey-changey thing working out for you?" she asked. "We are the party of HELL NO!" she later said. And Palin read off the palm of her hand, once again calling it the world's oldest teleprompter.
She should know that no matter how much she makes shitty jokes about it, it still won't justify her writing on her hand.

"A lot of common-sense conservatives can relay some slogans that a majority of Americans like a lot better than [yes we can]," Palin said. "Like 'Repeal and Replace.' 'How's that hopey changey thing working out?' Or my faorite, 'don't retreat reload' -- and that is not a call for violence." That got her another standing ovation. So a bit later, she brought up the 10th Amendment and said, "Shoot, take a look at Texas -- oh, sorry, I said 'shoot.'" (Wonder why that didn't make her Jay Leno standup bit?)

She kept up her defense of the GOP as the party of "no," despite Newt Gingrich's attempt Thursday night to move past it. "We're getting back to our grand old roots," she said. "There is no shame in being the party of 'no,' if they're proposing, the other side is proposing an approach that violates our values, violates our common sense, violates our Constitution -- what's wrong with being the party of 'no'?" Just a couple minutes later, of course, she cited Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln to claim, "We're not just the party of 'no,' we're the party of ideas."

But no one in the room seemed to notice the apparent contradiction.
Abraham Lincoln is so relevant. I am glad she is taking a controversial "slavery is bad" position.

God bless the tenth amendment. It is the most worthless amendment and does nothing.

Yes, yes it does. As soon as she said "Obama doesn't know about nuclear weapons, but I do" that opens up to ask her 1) how much work have you done on the nuclear issue, 2) what access to information on the nuclear issue do you have, and 3) what generals, cia, state department people (you know, the real experts) have you been talking to.

We all know the answer to this will be comical.

That was just some random commenter.
On energy policy, she said "the left has waged a multi-front war on conventional resources." Palin dismissed the president's decision to open up some offshore areas for drilling, saying, "they banned more offshore drilling than they allowed." She said the administration had purposely built a delay into opening the areas "to give environmentalists more time to sue."

"Let's drill, baby, drill, not stall, baby, stall," said Palin.

She said the president had opened up drilling in certain areas to help win support for his energy policy, but that he is "not going to find bipartisanship down there."

Palin argued that the president is "trying to play both sides against the middle" and is pushing a policy that will "destroy jobs and impose a new national tax on energy on all of us."

Of course, what could compare to the vast experience Sarah Palin gained from her bachelor's degree in communications after going through four colleges. And truly, the nuclear legislation she partaked in as the Mayor of Wasilla and half-term governor of Alaska are extensive indeed.

To be fair, getting a degree, no matter where from, doesn't actually give you experience in actually doing squat. Columbia and Harvard mean fuck all to what the debate is.

On the other hand, being a Senator who worked on nuclear issues vs being a Governor who did not is a vast difference. Furthermore being the President gives you access to all sorts information that only the military and CIA know about these weapons and what really is going on.

Governors don't get to see our nations secrets and actual defense plans.

Really, her arguing with him about nuclear policy is about as dumb as arguing with the CJCS as now, she just has no working background in it, and can't even access any of the relevant information. Which is why it's so funny.

Palin questioned Obama's experience in the area. That gives him every right to ask the same about her doesn't it?

Have you forgotten the election already? Palin has executive experience, which includes the secret missle codes so she can launch a first strike nuclear attack against russia from her front porch. She may in fact be the most qualified nuclear expert in the country, if not the world.

I thought those codes weren't given out until a Governor had been in office for 24 months...

You only need 24 hours and a 90% or better score on a "what would Jack Bauer Do?" quiz.

I'm not sure how serious the Republicans are with this (seems like a bit of a non-starter to me) but apparently they're trying to get Grant off the $50 bill and replace him with Reagan.

If it gets big, expect Palin to jump on that bandwagon faster than you can say "I've never even seen a $50 bill".

Man if we replace grant with anyone it should be Sherman.
If we thought we could get Georgia to openly revolt over it, I'd jump right on that bandwagon.
