The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It basically gives us 4 different Spider-Men in 4 different dimensions. One of them is a fucking Steampunk Spider-Man (who actually has a real comic, you can google it).
I am absolutely stoked for this game. Did you notice how Noir/Steampunk Spidey has realistic graphics? And how Amazing Spidey is all cartoony cel-shaded? I bet every Spidey gets his own graphical style like that.

Based off of the title, I'm going to guess that the game ends with all four spidermen joining up to fight some force that threatens all of their worlds.
On the one hand, interesting.
On the other hand, they do seem to be trying to gimmick Spiderman games until they find one that sticks, instead of trying to polish the basic structure.
On the third, withered, malevolent hand: Activision.

That was pretty cool.
But what are the other 2 versions? I can't really say Ultimate Spidey is that different from default Spidey.
I just don't have faith in Spider-Man games anymore, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. But this seems to just be taking whats wrong with the last few games and compounding them.

Actually, I'd be shocked if it didn't.
I'm guessing the fourth one is evil.
Also, the multiverse will be represented by a giant web of realities.
What were the newer spidey games like? Think the latest I played was Spiderman 2 and I remember the swinging being pretty awesome.
Every game since Spidey 2 has devolved the swinging and I think in some cases limited it by story progress, had limited rogues gallery, not really had very impressive graphics and have struggled to enhance the combat at all. Fighting on hte wall in WoS was a nightmare.
But, in WoS defence, it did have a truly evil ending in a Spider-Man game. I give it credit for that.
i'm guessing 2099 and 1602, i can't think of any other significant spidies. My love of the spider-man two game is still so strong that i'm imterested and if it is 2099 and i'm down for sure
From the team that brought you great titles such as...
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on PC! The port!
Guitar Hero: Smash Hits!
Monsters vs. Aliens The Game!
Kung Fu Panda The Game on PC! The port!
Bee Move The Game!
Spiderman Friend or Foe!
Spiderman 3!.. for PC! The port!
Cars the Game!
2099 has got to be a given. Now I can't remember ... is Amazing Spider-man in the main dimension / universe? The one with Civil War, Skrull invasion, all that shit that went down with Osbourn? I want to say 616 ... but hell, color me impressed if Amazing's not, and they leave out the main universe entirely.

They were all like Spider-Man 2 but not quite as good, I believe.
Hence slight pessimism.
Spider-Man 3 was buggy, had fail-and-die QTEs, and simplified the web swinging that made Spider-man 2 awesome.
Ultimate Spider-Man had the best story IMO (based on the, well, Ultimate Spider-Man comic) and wasn't as buggy as 3, but still had the same simplified webbing.
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows had good combat mechanics that the previous Spider-Man games were weak at (There was one boss battle against Vulture, where you spent most of the time airbore, and it worked) and I kinda like the story/VAs, but Manhattan was pretty empty beyond the main story line and combat-focused side quests, and it had QTEs and the nuetered web swinging.
So yeah, I would say most of the Spider-man games since 2 have been good (except 3, that was okay at most) but none of them have been great since Spider-man 2.

I though WoS had the best combat of them all (or at least the funnest, being able to zip-line at foes,) and wall fighting has always been a pain.
EDIT: They didn't even make Spidey 3, just ported it to Windows.
Aren't all PC Spiderman games shit? Even more so than the ones that suck on console?
Well thats what I'm saying. Rocksteady might only have 2 games so far but they're two awesome games. With Spider-man since 2 they just seem to be doing the Sonic method of throwing gimmicks at it.
3 had the symbiote and the QTEs, WoS had the symbiote, QTEs and symbiote versions of regular heroes.
I just want 2, with an upgraded city, good side missions and even more rogues.
And not the Spider-Man 2 story. But instead they waste 2-3 years at a time churning out mediocrity.
So in addition to Spider-Man Noir and 616, what else could they use...
Ultimate and 2099 are good bets. Spider-Man 1602 might be the best bet actually, since it's more recent than 2099. How about Spider-Man India? Or Mangaverse Spider-Man. Everybody would love that.
It could be like the end of the cartoon, where one of the Spiderman's was a guy who pretends to be Spiderman from our dimension, where Spiderman is just a comic character.
Wasn't he powerless in 1602? He was basically just a toady for Fury.
End of it powered up him and Banner and had 1602 Ironman land in America, sequel had him fighting Dinosaurs as The Spider with Banner doing stuff as the Hulk and Tony going around as Lord Iron. Pretty decent sequel.

It will be the star of Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
Spider-Man 1602: There was also a more recent mini by Jeff Parker that had Peter leave America and encounter 1602's Dr. Octopus. It was also rather good.

The white "anti-shading" in the Noir play seemed a tad excessive though.
It looks fantastic.

Maybe Spider-Man 2099 and medieval Spider-man?

Or maybe Spider-Man 2211.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
They've made more comics in the 1602 setting.
...and Peter was bit by a spider at the very end of the original...
