this episode had a lot of shock value, but they didn't really deal with the more interesting issue of how to deal with justice in a post apocalyptic wasteland.
They did
You be a fucking waste of a human and you get left behind
Outside of shooting him, they should've just chucked the hacksaw over to him and split. It gives him a shot at survival while still allowing everyone else to ditch his ass.

Did you stop watching after the episode ended? Didn't see the next-week-on-The Walking Dead?
Looks like Shane and Rick argue about going back for the guy.

That's the difference between Shane and Rick and why Rick is a better leader. He would have gone in by himself if he had to to save the scavenge team -- where Shane wasn't letting them go.

Also Rick is bad ass enough to pull it off.
I was confused why he didn't toss that guy the hacksaw. He did lock the door, I guess to protect himself from the guy chained up? Or was it to prevent the zombies from feeding on his helpless ass? Haven't read the comics but maybe he turns into a zombie and leads a group of undead to the camp. THEY ALWAYS GO HOME.

Honestly who gives a shit, this was an awesome episode.
Great episode. Really enjoying this show so far. Haven't read the book, so I'm anxious to see what happens. Also, when Rick was doing work with the ax, that's my kind of zombie killing. Also, Glenn is awesome.
Were they calling the undead "Geek"? I thought I heard that a few times....

I think the episode that aired tonight could be best described as...average? It was good (maybe competent is the word I'm looking for) but definitely felt like a step down from the pilot last week.
Ok, so, question from episode 1/pilot/whatever it was.
Why did that guy put the guy who was shot in a hospital full of zombies?
dumbest question yet
Why is it dumb?

You know
the hospital didn't have zombies in it when he was there. The zombies came later. Then the military was at the hospital talking about how they were gonna protect him and everything but couldn't protect the town so the friend and wife went to Atlanta where it was supposedly safer than a small town.
who else applied for that sweepstakes... because that would be fuckin AWESOME.
Haha I totally did!! Right after the show ended.
Fuck I really liked this episode. All the gore was AWESOME.
And hot damn was I tense when
they were covered in guts walking through the streets. Then I heard the storm clouds and was like OH NOOOO. Seriously on the edge of my seat for that whole scene.

Oooooh. I thought the little girl zombie at the beginning of the episode meant that the zombie shit was already up and running.
So, he gets shot, hospital, THEN zombie shit starts.
So why the hell did they have the girl zombie crap before the main credits? Why not just have the traffic stop / guy gets shot / then wake up to zombies?
Edit: Which was my confusion after he wakes up, gets to the house, sits down, and waves at the OBVIOUSLY ZOMBIE GUY walking towards him.

Because it set the tone that this show wasn't gonna be a happy fun fest of Zombieland and Darabont isn't fucking around.

Ok, so, just to clarify.
He knew there were zombies before he was put into the hospital, right? That pre-credit thing isn't a weird time flip?

I'm really digging the show's extra characterization. The next episode's conflicts have me excited.
Honestly who gives a shit, this was an awesome episode.
Soon as I saw that, things stopped being gross and started being awesome

I can't see why they're going to make me wait for season 2. BRING IT ON BITCHES!
One of the most disgusting things I have ever seen, period.

Beauty of child birth my ASS.
Its.... not supposed to come from your ass.
Dude, when women give 'the final push', the ass eventually enters the scene.
With poop.
The shit (literally) that they don't tell you in birthing class. And why does nobody mention the smell?
Back to the show. Loved their choice for Glenn. Casting in general has been good. Except maybe Shane.

I saw the ep at the local movie theatre in town and the entire crowd was groaning during that scene. It just kept going and going and going. Wow.
I can't believe they're allowed to show this level of graphic gore and violence on television. It's awesome.

He was shot before the zombie apocalypse. He was in a coma. Then, zombies happened and he didn't die because... plot convenience, I guess.
So, he gets shot, hospital, THEN zombie shit starts.
Alright.

Sometimes that is indicated in a series.
