Just for note the lysol and sunlight aren't that effective. The only non professional way to 100% kill bedbugs is heat treatment. Expose them to heat over 110°f (45°C) for 30 minutes or 90°f(30°c) for 2hours. The other option is to freeze them. Bedbugs can't survive long at 55°f (10°C) but below freezing is better. this is a good and easy option for people experiencing the winter chill right now leave you're luggage in a uninsulated garage or somewhere else that can get that cold.
That said best option is not to get them in the first place.
I refer you back to my original post on the mater.
Oh a reminder. When you get to your hotel room, put your luggage into the tub, take the sheets off the bed and look for red/brown spots. If you find some your bed is infested by bed bugs and don't put any of your cloths on it or the carpet.
Lysol will kill any bugs it hits . Remember before your able to get to a washer machine and drier your going to be putting this stuff back in your car .... These suckers can live for months without food and all it takes is one living in your car to get you into trouble.
Sun light isn't the most effective killer but it is a helpful one. All the clothes i'm bringing to pax can stay in a plastic bag outside for months or years in all honesty but i'm lucky enough that my washer and drier are right by my sliding door.
Actually benzalkonium chloride the active ingredient in Lysol is more effective on bacteria, protozoa, and viruses. This is because it works on the exposed cell membranes in such organisms. It is not as effective on insects with exoskeletons and nearly useless against eggs. Further bedbugs are resistant to many pesticides.
The guys over at Sidequesting.com put together a guide that lists apps, Twitter feeds, maps and a link to one of the forum posts here. The list contains a ton of information for people attending PAX East.
Frugus, Saly, and others, great stuff. This is my first PAX and I tend to be one to try to be prepared for anything.
Probably won't see you on the roads out of Canada, Frugus, but if you're looking for a game in the tabletop area, I'll gladly run/play something there.
Thank you very much BeerNgaming! I'll definitely be spending some time in that area and will be up for anything. Feel free to look me up and ask if we cross paths! In fact my only problem right now (which is a nice problem to have) is that I'm wondering exactly how I will approach people I don't know and ask to play games I barely know anything about.
I figure that I could at least read up on some online manuals for games I have a fair interest in. That should help break some levels of ice and help things to proceed a little bit more quickly.

Dude find some ants and spray them with lysol . It will kill them. If you injest enough of it , it will kill you also
A good spray of lysol on almost any insect will kill them

Is the PAX Conventionist schedule static, or are last-minute changes pushed out to the app? Would schedule changes require an app update, or just redownloading the schedule again? I know there were a couple last-minute changes at PAX East 2010 that I didn't find out about until too late.
I also noticed when installing it that it lists PAX East 2011 twice - once in Boston, MA, and the other in Seattle, WA. Both are showing the same dates. I assume they're the same.
Some people are like Slinkies. They have no practical use whatsoever,
but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

You won't be spraying directly on the bedbugs- they are good at hiding. If you find evidence of bedbugs, call the front desk and don't unpack your clothing.
An another note, store your clothing and luggage in the bathtub while its not in use. It will help ensure that in the unlikely event your room is infested, your clothing should have a good chance of being bug-free.

Actually my extra-PAX schedule is pretty well booked. The only time I will be able to play will be when I'm at the convention itself. I'm sure I will be able to manage something.

And putting both in water will eventually kill them. The fact is in order to kill an insect it must ingest a lethal dose. Your not going to get that with just a spray over your cloths. Further bed bugs are much heartier than ants. Dose an ant colony and a bed with the same amount of DDT per area volume and the ants will be dead while the bedbugs are still hatching and breeding.

Which is why in my original post I also said use this
I've used lysol to kill bed bugs when I was in japan it does work . I wouldn't use it on my bed to kill a colony but I would on my bags and pillows. I don't want to spray a bed bug spray on my pillow and then go to sleep. Lysol the pillows and sheets and then use the bed bug spray on the things your not laying on like the matress (take the cover off ) the frame and the bed posts.
Alot of the time you might miss evidence of bed bugs esp if the room was recently cleaned by the staff .

This has dragged on for too many post But you may want to do further reading on the subject. For one you just recommended a product that claims to kill bed bugs because the component chemicals had an effect on tobacco cutworms and green peach aphids. A product that is 94% non active ingredient and 97% untested ingredients.
That said it is a tangent. We can both agree that avoiding the pest is best and isolating and treatment under all other situations.
PAX is so close. This trip is so many "firsts" for me. I'm scared shitless.
Is there anything I can do to help my condition?
Chill. That's basically it. Get everything you'll need packed and ready ASAP and don't worry. When you walk in the convention center it'll just click.
Yea. Pack up and quadrupole check everything. Clothes, bathroom stuff, electronics, extension cords, cash. Train your pokemans and get your liver ready. Get a list of every panel you might want to see, even if they are at the same time. You will need alternatives I'm sure.

PANIC. CONSTANTLY WORRY ABOUT EVERY POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN, AND THEN COLLAPSE INTO AN INCOHERENT MESS BEFORE YOU EVEN BOARD THE PLANE. or listen to the much better advice from everyone else. You know, whatever.

It's tough... when I went to PAX last year it was a huge culture shock. I've lived in rural Vermont for almost twenty years now, so Boston alone is kind of intimidating, much less cramming into a building with tens of thousands of other people.
Still, yea, relax and let go. And don't let the lines get to you. They're awful, but whip out the DS and get some Mario Kart going.
I think a lot of me being not nervous is that I have been to like 2-3 NYCC and 1 SDCC, so huge crowds won't really scare/intimidate me. I also plan the shit out of things like this, so I will always know what is going on.
I know that when I first get in there, I am going straight to the PA booth and getting a PAX 2011 shirt and scarf. After that, anything goes. Panels, playing games that aren't out yet (a TON of Mortal Kombat), buying things, and just overall having a fun time. Can't forget the forum Pokemon League and trading cards.

I was in the same boat as you last year.
Just know this : No one is a dick, so don't worry. Even if you look super nervous, you will be accepted with open arms.
Once you get there you will feel silly for worrying
Singing "Still Alive" and then "Bohemian Rhapsody" while walking from the queue to the theater last year solidified in my mind the community that I'll be returning to this year. Open arms indeed.
Is it possible to leave and return to the BCEC during the day? Say, if I want to return to the hotel to unload my stuff and/or shower?
From what I've seen at waaaaaaay smaller conventions, the line to get in is usually biggest around opening time and gets slightly more manageable during the day, but of course, those were miniscule events compared to PAX East.

Yes, leaving and coming back is perfectly normal. Just be ready to re-pay parking if you're driving in (and it's possible you may lose a spot altogether). Lines aren't long to "get in" after you come back, they are only long per whatever you're trying to see.

AWESOME (No car. I walk everywhere). That also means I can bring my DSLR & a big water bottle (is that allowed?) for the day, and store it away at the hotel* before the concerts. Also, I can cosplay for half of the day and then change into more comfortable clothes later on (or vice versa, depending on jet lag, hehe).
*which I haven't seen anywhere on the bed bugs site, which may either mean it's free of bed bugs or nobody reported them.
The worst part of walking to the store to get new comfortable shoes is the fact in order to do so you must wear your old uncomfortable shoes to get there. Close second is when the clerk tells you that they're out of all but a Champion with some sort of training heal that makes it impossible to walk in size 12 because they are between seasons ATM.
In other words good foot wear is a must. Friday is going to be somewhat nasty so wear something that can take rain.
How quick do the 2011 shirts sell out (well, the shirts for each year, you know) and the scarves? Is it something like 'go to the booth NOW and get it' or more like 'get it relatively early?'
For instance, going before getting in the keynote line. The merch doesn't open till 10, right?
I don't know when the booth opens but I do remember seeing a big sign on the pillar next to it last year on Saturday morning proclaiming that all the scarves had been sold.
As such, I would not wait long at all to visit that booth if you want a shirt or scarve.
The booth was relatively stocked when I walked by it Saturday night last year. Some items sold out but not most. The scarfs I think were a surprise to most everyone. They sold like crack hotcakes.
