So,
hotels are live, where will you be staying? (I'll be at the Westin Boston Waterfront
)
From the hotel list, click on the link that says "view entire block". That will show the full blocks for all hotels and how many rooms are left. Don't know how often it's updated, but it looks to be real-time.

Now to figure out flight...

Hey, it's me, Teldra! Did someone say "greatsword"? [Eternity]
Woo
Woo indeed. I stayed outside Boston last year since I had a friend living in Lowell that was gonna be driving in every day anyhow. Sucked to have to drive out at 2am every night, haha.
edit: correction, it's gone
I'm so excited! *does a happy dance*.
*crickets*
Right, nevermind then. I'll be in the Seaport if anyone needs me.
Actually from the website the rooms in the Seaport look a little nicer than the Westin, but I want the convenience of being attached, and I don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's also more a holiday for me (I'm doing a 5,000 mile journey each way!), which possibly tips things for me a bit.
Given 2 bedded rooms in the Seaport appear to have gone now, for the Wednesday night, I was probably not alone in this opinion...
Having stayed in both of them before, the westin is nicer :P
DOH!
Cancelled once. Not going to do it again, it's just tempting fate. I'll go Westin PAX 2012.
Agreed. :P
I am pumped it was cheeper then the Hotels down the street. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, last year I stayed at the Holiday Inn Brookline, which was at least a couple miles away from Hynes, and it worked out okay. You should be good!
Also, it should probably be noted that Westin does not offer free wireless internet
Daamn, those are plummeting. I take back what I said, daaamn, they'll be lucky if they last the week.
At this rate, we'll be lucky if they last to tomorrow!

Last year I had to jump through a bunch of hoops calling the hotel (Holiday Inn Brookline). The first time they told me that my reservation was only from Saturday to Sunday (wtf?), so they changed it. Then the second time I called they told me my reservation was cancelled - but apparently it was because I was "double booked" somehow. I still had my reservation, but the process of confirming it added a lot of needless stress
In the end I have always received what is on my email confirmation. I think checking in on Thursday helps because the hotel isn't physically full at that point. Your mileage may vary.

They aren't going to have that information until probably a week or two before the actual date.

Ok thanks for settling my worries!
Yeah, it works like this:
Nowish:
- Hotel reserves block of rooms for OnPeak
- OnPeak sells the rooms to you, the consumer
Februaryish:
- OnPeak takes all the deposits (check/CC)
Early March:
- OnPeak sends all the reservation data and moneys to the hotels
Mid-March:
- We all show up and awesomeness ensues
Thanks! Thats pretty helpful.
Seriously? When the fuck did hotels go live? God damn it, I don't get paid until tonight/tomorrow. That fucking sucks.
It's kind of like watching that scene from Aliens with the auto-turrets. They're tearing up aliens left and right, but you know that soon enough, despite their power, they'll be out of ammo, and truly boned. There are a lot of 1 beds left though, which isn't too bad (presuming people don't mind sleepingbags/cramming into one bed).

But my friend and I are still going with a single bed room, just gonna have to rent a cot or something.
