I was actually in the middle of posting the IC last night when the forum went down. But hey, now I can give Ohnein an introduction in it too.

Hey Ed, when you get a chance to redo Ohnein's sheet with Careful Aim, can you throw in the Heavy Pistol and Baton stats? I want to see what he can do that's non-lethal. Or at least, not immediately lethal.

Plus then he can use his riot shield!

It's just as well you asked, because I noticed a mistake I'd made. He had +3 Ranged and only 2 Focus, which isn't possible, so as a result he's taken a hit to his Resistance in order to pump up his FOC. It's one point lower now, he'll be so fragile D:

At least it makes the Careful Aim bonus a little less tiny

    rngheavyms.png
    Standard attacks

Basic melee attack: Single action, +60 to hit, 1d10+3, +8 to damage when performing double-action attacks
    (Axe-head Bayonet)
Basic melee attack: Single action, +60 to hit, 1d8+3 bludgeoning damage, double action 1d10+8
    (Baton)
Shot: Double action, 1d8+11, +40 to hit, AP5, +1 damage at point blank range, consumes 1 charge
(Heavy pistol: 5 charges, double action recharge, effective range 40 hexes)
Shot: Double action, 1d12+5, +40 to hit, RP10/AP4, +6 damage and +3AP at point blank range, consumes 1 charge
Burst Fire: Double action, 3d6+8, +30 to hit, RP12/AP8, +8 damage and +3AP at point blank range, consumes 3 charges
(assault cannon: 6 charges. Takes a double action to recharge, effective range 20 hexes [to-hit penalties beyond that])

    Techniques
Careful Aim: When aiming, +30 to hit and +3 to damage
Called Shot/Called Strike: Expend 4MP/4HP with any attack and deal additional +6 damage
Point Blank: Bonus damage at point blank range (already included above) and no penalties when fighting enemies at close range with a projectile weapon
Steady Shot: When spending an additional action to aim an attack, two attacks benefit from the aim action instead of just the one
Toughness: Your natural Resistance serves as armour (automatic damage reduction, as well as being tied to a save). This makes you really goddamned hard to hurt with certain attack types
Block: Bonus Resistance in Melee, and any hostiles passing through hexes adjacent to you move 3 hexes less than normal (factoring in all bonuses, the Heavy's Resistance in Melee would be 9)

P.S., bludgeoning damage is less lethal than bladed damage. In other words, unless you specify that you're trying to kill someone, an enemy's incapacitation (hitting 0 HP) won't result in a critical condition with continually worsening attribute loss.

Here's your medic Ed rolled up for you:
    Edcrab wrote: »
    pdmedicms.png
    Standard attacks

Basic melee attack: Single action, +20 to hit (+40 vs organics) 1d8 damage, RP5
    (scalpel)
Single Shot: Double action, 1d8+9, +40 to hit (+60 vs organics), RP9, consumes 1 charge,
(repeater rifle: 6 charges. Takes a double action to recharge, effective range 40 hexes [to-hit penalties beyond that])

    Medic abilities

Anatomical Precision: +20 attack bonus and +4 critical hit damage versus organic targets.
Stimulating Medicine: The character can grant a single adjacent ally a +2 bonus to an attribute for the duration of the encounter, but that ally loses 4HP/MP for the duration of the encounter depending on the attribute that benefits.
Anaesthetic: allies have a +4 Resistance bonus in the turn directly after being healed
Heal: As a double action, heal an ally of 10HP or MP. Outside of combat, you may relieve an ally of up to 3 injuries or traumas.
Triage: use Heal twice on an ally (usually you can only do it once)
Quick Witted: Reactions based off INT rather than AGI or FOC
Greater Heal: (from Triage) expend 4MP when using Heal, and the target also recovers an injury or trauma.
Dedication [INT]: Reroll failed INT checks once.
Sedate: (from Anaesthetic) Expend 4MP and make a Melee attack. If the attack causes damage, the target suffers a Stun effect (-40 to attack)

    Item abilities

Myre shot: (of which you have 5) - target recovers 1d6+Medic HP and may ignore the effects of one injury for the duration of the encounter. Using it is a double action, and it may be passed to other party members.

Changes can be made, of course

Yep, everyone's still in consideration! You'll just be introduced later, conveniently to coincide with your character being finalised :P

Although speaking of which Ringo, did we decide on the flavour of your cannon? Photonic, plasma, fragmentation? Although the latter would have very different mechanics to the others

    Damon Howe
    Gender: Male
    Height: 6'3
    Weight: 225 lbs
Age: Indeterminate. Could appear anywhere from his mid 30s to his early 40s.
    BIO

Howe was born on the small colony of Joran ,in the Jaoshijea System, near it's capital, Cardesia. His had a two siblings , a younger brother and sister. His parents were both in the Military and Damon followed suit. Due to his parents reputation and his own outstanding performance at the Nardoe Academy, Howe quickly became a Lieutenant in the Armed Forces. After serving with his local system's armed forces for quite a bit of time he joined in a joint effort against a fanatical cult that had taken over a Fringe System. The cult had taken over several worlds, killed as they pleased, raped as they pleased, no order, their whims were the only law. It would eventually come to end. But the experience left it's scars on Howe and left him rather bitter, he earned his medals but he didn't care. He would have rather have not seen his men mutilated. He already had his position and his rank.... a few more medals didn't matter.

After the conflict had ended, Howe had earned himself a bit of a reputation. Someone who could face the reaper without fear. The companies wanted him. Howe wasn't a huge fan. Duality had blood on their hands and so did the others. He didn't have proof, but he felt it. But news back home was that his parents were not doing so well. He was fine financially...his brother and sister, on the other hand, had not achieved the level of success he had. Not to say they were failures. But they weren't "The Great Cultist Slayer". He took the jobs with Duality. His duty was to guard shipments going in between the borders of Crivinian and Lodor. Duality preferred that Howe live up his reputation. This meant kill anyone who tried to steal supplies. He wasn't a fan of being told what to do especially by those who may be breaking the law themselves.

Regardless he did his job. Sometimes to their liking, other times....not so much. Once the Pirates got the idea. Howe moved onto other Corporate ventures. He could have returned to the Military, but scars from the conflict still weighed on his mind. As guilty as he felt, when it was just money..it felt simpler.

That was when he received his offer from Vigil.

Oooh, I'm tempted by fragmentation Ed. I was just assuming Plasma though, as it's still a 'prestige' weapon.

Yeah, plasma is what the assault cannon's current stats describe: excellent damage and AP, middling range due to blooming. Photonic would be the opposite, with greater range but reductions to damage etc.

Fragmentation, however... well, that'd be a physically reloaded weapon, so it wouldn't just ready itself in the background when you're doing something else, and you couldn't carry unlimited rounds, and the AP wouldn't be as good as the plasma equivalent. On the plus side it'd have a blast radius, dealing half damage to everything adjacent to your original target.

And good stuff Egos, although it'd be "borders of Crivinia and Lodor" or "the Crivinian and Lodorion" border. Frankly I'm amazed anyone remembers this junk :P (Also I think you mean medals rather than metals)

Yeah, stick with plasma. I like the ability to one-shot things at point blank range. Of course, once the game gets going we may find closing to point blank impractical, but we'll see.

I'm... not entirely sure how I feel about that. But hey, your bio is pretty cool!

So, Osterman the empath and Norton the tech. Good start.

It occurs to me, going back through the attacks/techniques in the spoilers, that I've frequently failed to list damages for pistols. A normal pistol generally deals damage around the 1d6+6 mark, and bypasses 5 or 6 points of Resistance. Potentially enough to one-shot a normal human, but ineffective versus modern armours.

I mean in Norton's case I had an excuse for that omission; with Energising, his SMG is basically superior to the pistol in every way. Less so for the others!

While that might be the case, I have the worst +hit in the group, unless mechs are involved. Buuuut, I can essentially fire my smg continually. So I have a feeling I'll be laying down a lot of surpressing fire until I can get my +ranged or foc up.

And it may all be moot anyways because I have a ton of basically unavoidable damage. Goooo Explosives! :D

heheh, I like to imagine that Norton got the SMG and hated it and decided to stick a giant battery on his belt and wire it up so it could fire forever. "Thats more like it!"

tommy and ringo have characters with big base damage outputs, but a lot of us are dependant on expendable stuff, like grenades or MP. Hopefully we won't have a situation where weve hung on to all the best stuff and never got a chance to use it, or worse.. usd it immediately and got caught short by a boss :P

Well, that's one of the perks of Equipment Specialisation; in friendly (and developed) areas, the character is assumed to have the resources/know-how/cash to purchase/produce replacement parts... or munitions, for disposables like grenades. Otherwise grenadiers would be unfairly nerfed in the face of all you assholes with recharging ray guns :P

As for MP, MP is easy to keep on top of! You can Surge and get some more back, or let the medic soothe your knackered brain. Just another reason why Edge is so important...

I actually wish I had a reason to burn MP. I need to take a perk down the road to be able to expend it, unless there are ways of burning MP without those.

Hrm...for RP reasons, I hope you don't mind if I say I have like an occular overlay implant. Not true implants, more like an embedded projector that overlays my vision with what my computer back at home base can see through my vision. Aka, I'm always hooked to home base if I have a connection somehow.

I'd still need light to see, though if I had an IR source, I could probably jury-rig my vision to overlay the area, I just couldn't see anything but a virtual space.

No, that's fine! I remember Dustin (tastydonuts's character in the first game) had full-blown mental implants as flavour, even though they had no mechanical impact and he certainly didn't count as a cyborg character.

Besides, mechanics-wise Norton could literally do that kind of thing with a normal computer (Tech 4 is a ridiculous level of technological skill; Tech 5 would make him one of the best in known space, but rank 4 is still incredible) so flavouring-up that capacity into an eye overlay is fine.

Speaking of expending MP/HP when you've got no powers that utilise it... I've been toying with adding a basic power for everyone. The idea being that a character can expend HP or MP and get a straight bonus to the relevant check, limited by their attribute value (i.e., Norton could spend up to 3MP and get up to a +30 bonus to a FOC roll). Otherwise it just sits in the background uselessly!

The teams aren't decided yet! Speaking of which, I should add your character to the IC OP, Egos.

My thinking is: Team 1 enter the left-hand end of the map in order to try and locate the ambassador. Team 2 navigates the right-hand side of the map in order to disable the security system.

And then both teams join forces and hold off the raiders!

Iriah's "Now that we have all been introduced" (paraphrasing) made it seem a bit awkward . Unless he didn't notice the guy looming in the corner.

I figured it would be logical that he didn't care for the chit-chat and would ask straight up "So who is going where?". But Tommy isn't on scene as of yet.

edit: So I presume that question wouldn't get answered.

By awkward, I mean it seemed as thought it was given every character in the area was accounted for. And there was mention of people still being recruited/brought in I believe...

I had plans to introduce my character, but things moved faster than I expected when I was away from the computer  Last post I saw was yours last night, since I had to head out early this morning.
