If you pause (~7 seconds) it at the right moment you can see blue under the puck while his skate is still on the blue line.

And, yes, it was called a goal.
That's our Zidlicky! Always good for a laugh in the Northwest.

Wait, they were two separate goals?! I thought they were different shots of the same goal.

We'll see how long this blog lasts

He didn't score on the first one (slapshot) he did on the second one (wrist shot)

Pens were looking alright at the start of the second. Scored 2 goals and just decided that was enough or something.

    Fuck.

I didn't even know there was a game tonight.

    I suck.

I was really hyped to watch this and the Rags game in tandem, hoping we'd claw closer to 1st.

    ...guess I got greedy.

Fleury got hurt by Paul Martin and isn't playing in the third.

Watching the Capitals season end tonight. Weeee.

Our goaltenders should spend the off season in Japan so they can try their hands at competitive origami -- because goddamn can they ever fold under pressure.

Crap. He also took a puck to the side of the head before that.

...and now Montoya's in for Nabby?

Shitty reffing this game. Pens probably shouldn't be winning anyway, but calling some questionable stuff for the isles and letting some obvious stuff go against them.

That game sucked, but at least it might shut up the Fleury for team MVP people.

It like the Pirates season last when people were picking anyone but McCutchen. Some people just have no idea how to judge value.

Leafs eliminated from playoff contention again! Hey, remember a month ago when they were something like 85% to make the playoffs? Oh, look, alcohol! Don't mind if I do!

So of course, when all the teams the Avs need to lose lose, the Avs lose too, meaning pretty much nothing happens. So aggravating.

So sources are saying the Avs are looking to renew Sacco's contract and bring him back next year.....

    .......shit.

There's a lot of people at this Columbus game. Looks like mostly Wings fans, but still. Also, I can't believe the Blue Jackets are up a goal on the Wings in the second.

Wings taking the night off, or playing for sixth so they can get the Pacific winner instead of the eventual Western champs.

Avs out. Sorry Marky. Did my best to cheer when you had the puck. :(

So Friday night the Wings and Preds basically play for home ice in the 4/5 series.

It's better off this way. The way they've folded under pressure the first round would have been embarrassing.

I may shed a tear when my Lando jersey finally gets in though. :(

Is there a hockey players thread or can I just blab in here? I bought new equipment today. First time since high school. I got a new chest protector, elbow pads, hockey pants, jock/sock holder, bag, and I am now going to wear a visor instead of a cage. I am pretty nervous and excited to wear a visor. Should be a fun experience.

I never liked wearing a cage, my face would always get hella sweaty and get into my eyes. At least with a visor I could easily wipe away the sweat.

Though I guess the bonus to wearing a cage was no need to wear a mouthguard making talking a hell of a lot easier.

How would a cage make you sweat?

There is, like, a 1% obstruction to your face.

I disliked visors when I made the switch back ~10-15 years ago. I switched back to a cage, but had a half-visor on my ref helmet. The half visor wasn't bad.

I think he means that its harder to wipe away the sweat while wearing a cage.

    Nice islanders fans.

Cheering for Crosby lying on the ice after taking a puck to the face.

    Stay classy.

Even off his face he made a perfect pass to Dupuis

Yea, we will see how I like it. I am going to bring a screw driver and my cage just in case I want to switch back.

I haven't fully suited up for hockey since high school. I have been doing sticks & pucks in Hatfield, PA for the past few months but you don't need full equipment. Gonna do it in full equipment tomorrow and then tomorrow night we are doing open hockey. SO MUCH HOCKEY TOMORROW!

Yeah, I guess that'd do it. I hope we do a little shuffling on the blue line in the off season, as much as I love Letang, we can't just rely on him 100% of the time like we do now.

Keeping Letang and Orpik, of course. Develop Despres a little more, get Michalek in a combo that works. Engo is fairly interchangeable with any heavy hitting defense, Martin is the weak link.

Correction, Martin is the too expensive link.

He is a good d man. Not for 5mil on this team.

He's got potential, certainly not 5mil worth though. I just wish he'd play up to it.

Also, for as hit and miss as he was last season, I think Niskanen has been really solid all year. Having him missing the last few games hasn't helped anything.

I'm not ready to make too much noise about the Islanders games yet. I mean, sure the defensive performance was lacking, but it's not like that was the first time it has happened all season. However normally the Pens are bailed out by
    1) Scoring 5-7 goals so it doesn't matter how bad the D was or
    2) Fleury making 2-3 saves on plays that would normally result in goals (e.g. breakaways).
And neither of those has happened this week.
