I was about eleven when I made up the handle Mortal Sky. This was on the GameFAQs forums. I don't honestly much care for the name nowadays, but I can't think of anything better that really clicks with me, and seven years of repeated log-ins later, the keystroke for mortal sky is pretty much permanently set into my mind.
A Christmas Story is an extremely mediocre movie. It has it's good parts and catchlines which keep it from being horrible. Just like Office Space (yes I said it dammit). I have no desire to ever see A Christmas Story again.
On the other hand, AMC plays White Christmas and Holiday Inn nonstop around Christmas day. Those are both great movies.
As weird as my username is (yes there's a story behind it) somehow I am not the only Syphyre on the webnets. I google this username and I see myself on xbox forums and other forums and it's not ME. (Had to register my name on xboxlive as Syphyreal, which now that I've had it, I like better than Syphyre).

My username is the first part of my RO High Priest's full name Anialos Xiloscient. That was the character I met my wife while playing. Its pretty much stuck since then. As for the origin of that name...if anyone has a copy of the D&D 3.5 rules handy, look up names for elves. You'll find Inialos and Xiloscient. Can also find that name in one of the PbPs I'm playing in over in CF.
My name came about when I was 13 or 14 and needed a character name to play Ultima Online with a friend, being massively uncreative I did some searching for name generators and found a decent looking one, gave it the parameters of "Male, Elven, Tolkien" and got a list of 500 something names.
Skimming over them Fyndir called out to me, and that was that, for about a decade now.
Mine came from the year I read Neuromancer and a bunch of other books. A bunch of loas kept cropping up again and again in stuff I read that year and Legba was the one that stood out to me because, keeper of the crossroads and information how cool is that.
And here we are, 14 years later and I'm quite content to keep this handle. In fact I keep registering for shit as it pops up simply to keep the name mine (how daft is that). It still annoys me to no end that some schmuck on XBox Live took it like 10 years ago and has never actually used it. Doubly so because I have the feeling it was me and I've just forgotten what my password was.
