I don't care if you 'don't like racing'. This isn't about that. The racetrack might be where the story happens, but this is a film about a man - a real man, with weaknesses and failings and tragedy and triumph and everything that is the human condition. Drive was fantastic. But this - this was sublime.

my favorite two albums this year are Britney Spears - Femme Fatale and Blink-182 - Neighborhoods
Is Neighborhoods really good? I've been meaning to listen to it but I was afraid it'd be terrible

My wife and I bought our first home this year.
Now we'll never again have to worry about having any annoying money lying around.
I didn't watch enough movies/TV or play enough games to decide what was best in those categories, but 2011 was a pretty good year for me to be alive in.

Sweeney Tom's Best ofs (note: I am consistently nice and sweet, so there will be few if any categories where I only give an award to one person/thing)
New Artist: Tyler the Creator (kickass new album, plus guest appearance on Regular Show AND consistently one of the best people to follow on the Twitter)
Movie: I have so many of these, so I'll make subcategories
Action Movies: Drive Angry 3D
Hobo with a Shotgun
Thor
Killer Elite
(note: I haven't seen Sherlock Holmes 2 yet)
Horror Movies: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
Final Destination 5 (shut up, the bridge scene is one of the best opening scenes to a horror movie or any movie I've ever seen)
Fright Night
Animated Movies: Rango
Rio
Winnie the Pooh
Hugo
The Lion King 3D
(note: I haven't seen Tintin yet, or Batman Year One, hence why they aren't here)
Thriller Movies: Contagion
Drive
Hanna
Unknown
Source Code
(note: I haven't seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo yet)
Drama Movies: Melancholia
The Lincoln Lawyer
Scifi Movies: The Adjustment Bureau
Super 8
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Comedy Movies: The Muppets
Games: Saint's Row 3
Batman Arkham City
(note: don't have Skyrim yet)
Best TV to Watch in 2011: Boardwalk Empire
True Blood
The Walking Dead
Why do people keep saying The Walking Dead is good
It's really not
It had a good pilot but it went to shit like a week later
My opinion on The Walking Dead
both comic and show
half of the stuff is terrible
but then there's half of the stuff, spread out, that's surprisingly good
And sometimes, just sometimes, some of it is great
Like the midseason finale this season. Best episode of the season so far. The first episode of the season was great too. Worth slogging through the rest of the bad stuff? Probably not. But still. Compared to watching stuff like 30 Rock or Two and a Half Men, yeah, sorry guys, I'll take The Walking Dead. Every day of the week.

Robert Kirkman writes the worst dialog
Like let's ignore the horrible, never ending cycle of Walking Dead stories caused by his refusal to ever explain what happened (which is fine but you should come up with some kind of running plot Jesus)
Everyone sounds the same
Rick sounds like Carl sound's like...Rick's wife whose name I forget sounds like Shane sounds like Mark from Invincible sounds like Atom Eve sounds like etc
The man can't write dialog to save his life, it's all horribly stilted and exactly the same no matter who's talking
People make fun of Willingham and COCKSMANSHIP or whatever but this is way worse

Oh you're talking about dialogue
I thought you were talking about the action and drama
Yeah, I'm not even gonna try and defend the dialogue, shit makes my head hurt

This would describe how i feel about Kirkman in general if I thought his rare flashes of brilliance weren't complete accidents, or if they occurred more often than on the fifth Friday in a year that's a prime number

Trivia: This poster has won every year for 10 years.
i had no summer at all, all of it was spent studying.
...but that led to me being sworn in as a lawyer. and i managed to land a decent job after two months of virtual unemployment.
so, yeah, 2011's turned out alright. (except for you guys, cause now there's more lawyers in the world, muahahahahaha!)

I like it a lot
I think I like their self titled album more but probably because I've listened to it so many times. But Neighborhoods is technically better

I got to see both of them live in a small church (with fantastic acoustics) 2 days apart this year.
Also Fucked Up but that wasn't in a church.
Halifax Pop Explosion for best concert festival 2011.
I really want to see Fucked Up, I hate you right now

Seriously the comic is horrendous and the show isn't much better

30 Rock is one of those shows
Where if it had only lasted 2 or 3 seasons, it would have been perfect.
