I have a fatpack of newer cards too.

Managed to get two decks out of it.

They suck but are good for playing against eachother.

I still don't quite understand how they got stuff like Treachery through development

they wanted free spells but that required you be able to pay for them.

And they forgot they made lands that produce more then one mana when tapped.

Because I know you guys care, I'm going to post my current deck build. White/Green humans:
The best thing is, I haven't ever bought any singles. Its all stuff I've pulled or traded for. Though I did trade some good mythics that I regret getting talked into trading now. Like my Koth of the Hammer :(

Highly competitive magic talk confuses me.

I have a bunch of old cards.

Enough to make like five decent decks.

I sort of understand what's going on when people talk about competitive stuff, but for the most part I just find cards I like at random and find ways to build around them

the results are fun for casual play but godawful for anything else, usually

This is how I run. I choose a color scheme with cards I like and build around it. People always try to give me tips on what I can take out or add or what the world champion who plays that color did but eff em. I get an idea in my head and its how I like to play. Sometimes it has been....not good. But lately I guess I'm just getting smarter at magic

yeah my deckbuilding ability has gotten considerably better than it used to be even though I stick to whatever theme convinced me to start

however sometimes this still means a deck that is as good as it can get while remaining focused on what my vision was, but is still really terrible (see: morph creature cost reduction deck)

I should build an EDH deck. How big are they usually? I feel like 80+ cards would seem reasonable

    99 cards and one general

They also have special rules that make them so fun like you can only have one of any card

I still say people should get one of the online options because dammit I want more people to play against than the two I know back home

and also to be able to try out more gimmick decks without having to find the cards I need to make them that are scattered between 3-5 sets

    I really like gimmick decks

There is one really funny dimir card from ravnaca that makes it so people can't search libraries this turn.

It's almost always useless but when it occasionally does something it is soooo goddamned funny.

    E: found it

Why limit yourself to one turn?

Because if you're playing blue black you probably only want that happening to your opponent.

I'm pretty pissed that I just realisized that I traded a ton of good cards to my more knowladgeable friend who took advantage of my lack of knowladge at the time and thus, shafted me in trades

  • drp527drp527 We sacrifice our own That more may rise in their placeRegistered User regular
I have done that so much

traded away Parallel Thoughts (among my favorite cards ever) for Mistform Ultimus and other such awful trades because I thought the card looked cool and I wasn't using what I traded at the time

then later on I realize "oh shit that would have been perfect to use in this deck" and realize how much I got screwed over

Particularly when you exile 7 counterspells.

best when you exile the last pieces of your set up and nothing else except low-cost draw spells

guarantee you get what you want that next turn

edit: also it allows you to avoid drawing out even if there are no cards left on it and I will always love it for that

i am really digging white this block.

this is a rare thing, but then when every other colour is focused on undead and werewolves, i know where my allegiance lies.

I like a lot of the curses they've come up with between the two sets, but practically all of the ones I view as worth using are 5-cost

I fully recognize mine is pretty bad

it has no way to deal with any kind of threats and entirely focuses on building its own board position until it can get into some crazy sacrifice/reanimation shenanigans, produce an enormous number of tokens, pump them all with a few different things I've got, and hit in one massive swarm

but I don't care it's so much fun when it works
