No, they employees log into the price checking site they have and they give them the lower price, but because of this the site said theirs was the lowest, so the price check thing was rigged.

Easy to say now that we have the hindsight, but it's very possible those people just thought they had read it wrong and begrudgingly paid so they didn't look like assholes after making a scene.

I'd say the stupid flows from employees and customers in equal amounts, more so from customers on big shopping days and more from employees 10 mins. before closing.

I tend to avoid Bestbuy/Futureshop when possible as it is due to the useless people they employ there.
I worked for target one summer between semesters of college, their general policy was “we don’t care if they get something for cheaper then they should as long as we keep them moving.” Its kind of surprising Best Buy would go to such trouble to con people a few extra dollars. If people have to jump through hoops to get the price they saw earlier they’re just not going to shop there anymore.

It's ok for Target to do that because most items are, for the most part, inexpensive, so it would cost Target more in man-power and time to make the customer "jump through hoops" than to just let it go, whereas Target sells largely expensive items (some of them VERY expensive), and so it is worth it to make the customer pay a higher price through hoops.
