Eh. I play as a 2 with my gf as Axton and Maya and we've never run into serious ammo problems well into TVHM.

that's, like, the worst orange weapon ever

I see you're not familiar with the Flakker.

Anyway SMG with six round burst with almost no recoil isn't bad at all.

It's still a pretty solid weapon at level 13.

I would have preferred something on my 'Zerker, but whatever.

My first orange ever was a level 31 Flakker, and that thing was the biggest pile of shit I've ever had the displeasure of handling.

So I finally got home and got to playing this awesomeness.

How is it for playing with people of different levels? What kind of level-range within the party is okay?

    Anybody?

In playthrough one the highest level guy will be known as kill that badass.

otherwise as long as your within 2-3 levels of each other or dont mind one guy getting a bulk of the kills its not a problem

Is kill-XP distributed evenly? If it goes more to whomever did the most damage or is higher level then this is a self-propelling problem, like LonelyAhava.

I think it's evenly distributed. Last night I was playing 8 levels below with Soulgate and was getting pretty good exp.

the only time I run out of ammo is fighting a boss, and since I rock three kickass pistols that goes quickest.
I really want to hit level 50 but aside from beating missions you earn crap XP in PT2

Man, PT2 went by fast as shit. Barely did any side missions.

Evenly? No. But everyone gets exp in fights for every kill regardless of who made it, you'll just get less exp if you're a higher level than the current enemies and way more exp if you're underlevelled, meaning you'll catch up in levels pretty quickly if you join a higher level player's game.

You do not need ammo regen

It is nice, it is convenient, but you do not need it

I don't even run a Hoarder mod on my Sal

  • 0Replace4Displace0Replace4Displace The best girls are ships and guns. Registered User regular
It always tries to catch the lower level people up to the highest level in the party. IIRC, it will get asymptotically close to the highest level's experience count, but never quite get there.

I farmed the Fridge hoping to get Sledge's Shotgun. I didn't, but god damn if I didn't find some impressive purples.

I really want Sledge's Shotgun. I don't care what level it is

I'll roll a new dude if need be

    End game question and spoiler:
So I'm in Hero's Pass, finally. I still have a bunch of sidequests but I kind of want to beat the game and unlock TVHM.

Is there any real reason to wait and do the SQs first? I can come back to PT1 if I really want to be OCD about it, right?

Yes you can switch between PT1/PT2 at any time, and story/quest progress is saved individually for both of them.

Only if it's possible to launch people into orbit with them like in BL1.

    Double orbit if gunzerked.

If you can make it to Opportunity you can get great exp by fighting constructors. Plus the loot is okay there too.

King Mong in Eridium Blight is hands down the easiest way to hit 50, if a little tedious.

As soon as you get access to the area, you can bring his health down with a car, hop out, and finish him off.

It being technically possible is not the same as it being reasonable. This is just not the kind of game where you want to have to worry about ammo. The game already involves more than its fair share of tedium, having to check every little box and stop at every vending machine for ammo would tip it over into being unfun.

So i decided to get one of these bee shields.... 54 kills later i actually own one... these drops rates are just awful for everything

  • MaddocMaddoc I'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother? Registered User regular
I went through the entire game multiple times without ammo regen with zero issues.

On occasion I would run out of ammo for one weapon, thankfully I had a couple thousand rounds of ammunition in other guns to hold me over until I found more ammo caches of an Ammo Dump machine.

Ammo regen is not necessary in the slightest, and playing through the game without it (as I have done twice so far) is not only possible but entirely reasonable. And once again, I'm glad that they limited it because it was silly for everyone to have infinite ammo all the time.

  • DarisDaris Registered User regular
Running low on ammunition has only been a problem through fault of my own. AKA- Bringing nothing but ammo hogs and low ammo weapons. That or being a poor shot.

Then again, my Zero hits the slots every time he has cash fo' sweet sweet eridium. Hence, he never runs out of ammo even running around with his instant fire-reload shotgun. Orange ammo upgrades all up in this bitatch!

Had zero ammo problem on PT1 (except for the early part where you have a crappy ammo stockpile), but it's entirely possible to run out of effective ammo on PT2 because of the shitty resistances added in and the insane HP levels. It wasn't until I got a Bee in PT2 that ammo stopped being a problem, simply because it would take so much damn ammo to kill all sorts of things.

There's just no good gameplay reason at all to not have, say, ammo regen relics. And effective ammo regen, i.e., it regens the ammo for everything in your arsenal, not just what you have out. Having to hit ammo stations every time they show up is just a tedious chore; at the very least, Gearbox should've added in something like holding down E to refill all your ammo immediately without every having to go into the menu.

  • MaddocMaddoc I'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother? Registered User regular
Maybe Gearbox decided that ammo regen was too widespread in the first one, and nobody used anything else.

Either way, I guess you can continue complaining about it or play Sal.

    Yes. Those are armored.

  • RamiRami Registered User regular
Yeah it's similar to Mass Effect hp bar system. Blue = shock, Yellow = corrosive, red = fire. Explosive I assume is slightly better damage against everything, but it also doesn't get as big a bonus on critical hits (at least the torque gyro jet ones don't).

Hopefully there'll be droprate, ammo regen and backpack/bank space mods soon.

Then the game will be that much closer to perfect.

My Arid Badlands had been really, really tediou since Saturn is a mega-bullet sponge and drops shit. And then I found a lvl 30 caustic rocket launcher with 'hive' red text.

Holy shit. After going a set distance, it deals about 13000 damage to anything in the area....and hangs there, spewing more rockets in all directions. It kills Saturn 'fuck you dead' in two shots, and will actually one shot the badass constructor on the top level.

I'm pretty sure my level 50 farmin will have nothing to do wih oranges. Il just be lookin for the 'best possible' purples of my favorite guns in caustic, shock, and fire varieties.

yea, or just slag them and use regular bullets. thats been my answer to everything in PT2 so far. a good slag grenade, or slag turret, or slag pistol/smg for gunzerking with sal, whatever.

27 is such an odd number to cap at. Like, I kept expecting there to be a hidden final one that bumped it to 30, but no...? Also since they're showing pictures and taking up so much space it'd be nice if they at least used two or three inventory columns, it's not like there isn't plenty of screen space for it.

isn't the top rank for inventory upgrades purple? i was assuming an orange one would open up in playthrough 2 or something

Know what else is weird? You can only carry 99 eridium, without being able to stow any. If that cap wasn't there I swear I'd be breaking the 1k mark atm...easily.

Elendil: lol nice catch, I'll have to keep an eye on his stock :D

For backpack upgrades orange is the top for ammo, can't remember if it was for bank/backpack itself though, long time since I upgraded those now.

Shimshai: Yes. I have multiple shields for different effects, a bunch of weapons at any given time too for testing, stuff I'm holding onto for my alts to use when they get high enough level because my bank is already full etc etc. So yeah, 27 is way too few slots.

edit: Also, in BL1 you kept collecting money even when the counter maxed out (9,999,999 if I recall, at least they added an extra digit this time) so it's possible you're still collecting eridium past the 99 mark even if it's not showing it.
