I must've missed something. Steam is updating right now after I did a restart. Only, it's a new kind of update pane, and it's like 100+MB.
Yeah, I was having the same sort of thing earlier--all of my Steam games went straight to "not responding" as soon as I opened them, and after I restarted my computer, Steam had to update with a new style of update before it started.

So this is what it feels like to buy a game a week before it goes on a massive sale It still hasn't arrived in the post so I may just buy the Steam key and hock the physical copy on ebay or the local gumtree to get my money back.

Man, Tribes Ascend looks interesting, but when I tried to try it it was such a goddamn pain to get started that I never actually tried it before deleting local content. When it's been forty minutes since finishing download and I still haven't been able to get into the game, my patience runs thin.
It's terrible because me and long form writing are not things that go together but I felt it'd be nicer to have somewhere to discuss it than random comments in the Steam thread. I'm also compiling a list of Steam ID's of the guys who play it so if any Awesomenauts players want to PM me their Steam handles that'd be neat.
Though I could probably do a Steam group for that >.> Dunno, just thought it was worth mentioning that there's a place for Awesomenauts discussion proper now.

One game I married a kin slayer heretic, gave her some land let her rebel and then we all kicked her ass, and Europe was in on it but weak from fighting her forces so I took over Europe too.
Crusader Kings, much like all the Paradox games using the same engine, doesn't have a learning curve. It has a learning cliff. They are incredibly difficult to learn. But much like you, I think they look balls to the walls awesome and I am still attempting to learn them and will not give up.
As for the price, I don't know if you'll see something better for a price. Amazon had a sale going on a couple of weeks ago that got you complete Crusader Kings 1 and 2 (all the DLC) for that same price. $5 off if you had that fancy schmancy coupon.

Man, I don't know what it is, but I just CAN NOT for the life of me get into Mirror's Edge. I don't think I've seen beyond the third level.
Don't feel bad, brother, I felt the same way and still feel like I missed out on some great secret everyone else loves. I just didn't enjoy it that much, and I played through the end. It felt more like a chore than a fun exercise.

As someone who did a stint as a truck driver, I do not understand why you would want to play a truck driving simulator.
I am equally confused. I joined the Colonial Marines when I was 20, did that for a few years and it was hell. Sure the liberating farmer's daughters bit was nice, but mostly it was just a bunch of bug hunts. I don't know why anyone would want to play a Colonial Marines simulator.

Edit: As warning, it appears that they are having an issue with assigning keys at the moment. I'm not seeing mine. I'll update this post when I get it.

Don't feel bad, brother, I felt the same way and still feel like I missed out on some great secret everyone else loves. I just didn't enjoy it that much, and I played through the end. It felt more like a chore than a fun exercise.

As someone in an earlier Steam thread put it, it's a great endurance racer with business management and RPG elements.
Basically everyone who has been inside of a truck for an extended period of time shares the sentiment. So you're not alone.
My two year old loves loves loves trucks so we watch the euro truck video on the store page lol.
Probably because taking a drive around some European countryside lanes and motor ways is relaxing when you don't HAVE to do it.
