Did you know there are UN forces in America right now seizing our weapons?

Well, dismantling and destroying our chemical weapons in accordance with treaties largely drafted by the US, in cooperation with American military personnel, and most of the UN guys are American, in facilities paid for by America but still

    UN TAKING OUR GUNS

Seriously though if I saw a UN van in town I'd imagine they were doing like, an environmental survey or some shit

So I guess they found a better way to get rid of them then just sinking them to the bottom of the fucking ocean?

the treaties make it illegal to transport them more than a few hundred yards

which we should probably amend if we go through with this Syria thing because building destruction facilities in an active warzone could be problematic

personally I think a better option would just be, entomb them in molten lead or something

Chemical weapons can be effectively neutralized, though.

Like, Sarin has a short enough effective life that it's stored as a binary compound. There are species of fungi that can digest VX.

Like what do you think UN forces pledge allegiance to the flag of UNia? That the members of the security council are not beholden to the countries they represent over the charter?

What possible logical basis do you have for your fear of the goddamn peacekeepers?

whelp i'm not going to post in there because i'm not interested in helping this dude but yeah i'm 99% sure what he discribes is illegal

any picture (even cartoons) that could be reasonably judged to depict a sexualised minor is illegal under the extreme porn act

Wow, I'm impressed that they go that far to even prosecute imagery. I wouldn't have thought that would be a thing in Europe.

well they're not dumb about it but if you've made an anime clearly depicting a child in a sexual context then yeah, they'll bust your ass for it

i find i'm not really opposed to that tbh, though i've heard it makes importing certiain animes difficult

we have our own anime rating board or something now

See I generally am uneasy about Euro-style restrictions on 'speech', but if you guys can do that "they're not dumb about it" thing well, then more power to you.

Here, we need to make goddamn everything explicit else you have troubles.

    @TL DR

We can't. The law disproportionately effects gay men, doing things which are consensual to do, but criminalised to film. Including recently destroying the career of a lawyer who specialised in prosecuting police over six pictures of like sounding etc.

What was originally claimed to only be used in the most extreme circumstances now hits nearly two thousand clear ups a year.

    Whew

I had dinner last night with five people, at least three other nerds, and all of us had iPhones. Not one person was in the least bit excited about the 5S or 5C. We didn't even bring it up as a topic of conversation. It was not mentioned at all, not even in reference to disappointment. If I had Apple stock, I'd sell it off too.

Jesus, apparently the Ouya's "Free the Games" thing is full of bullshit. I just read that a team that agreed to have their game supported by that promotion had their project funded by just over 100 people, each of them averaging like $600 a pledge. What the fuck.

One of the names was apparently from an ongoing missing persons case.

WASHINGTON—Adding to the six basic functions that have for years made up the foundation of trigonometry, the nation’s mathematics teachers reportedly introduced 27 new functions today that high schoolers will be expected to master. “While the core of the trigonometry curriculum has traditionally consisted solely of sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent, henceforth we will be including gasmin, negtan, cosvnx, and two dozen others, such as tosna and cotosna, that our pupils will need to have down pat in order to pass,” Coolidge Senior High School trig teacher Robert Beckman said on behalf of the nation’s math educators, emphasizing that students will be required to have full understanding of tofsin, pomen, cocosine, phyxyx, fotsin, and fostin as they apply to the various properties of equilateral, isosceles, and scalene triangles. “Students will also need to know the corresponding graphs for the functions. For example, drin forms a sort of stepladder going up the X and Y axes, while codrin forms a stepladder going down. I can assure you that all of these are absolutely crucial to understanding basic trigonometry, not to mention a requisite for anyone seeking to graduate and move on to college.” Beckman added that factoring will be cut from the math curriculum entirely because it’s “annoying and too fucking hard sometimes.”

Apparently there are slightly less women in the NZ militarily now than in the mid 1990s, as a percentage.

Also, I almost freaked out when an Alsatian pup tried to nose his way between my legs at the train station, from behind. But who can stay angry at a happy looking pup?

    I liked this part:

As we posed for a picture with one kid, he stuck his middle finger right in my face.

“So you are flipping off Captain America?” I admonished him.

He got red-faced, apologized and struck a smile instead. We carried on undeterred, and the overall crowd reaction was positive and friendly.

I ate a burger that was not medium rare on purpose. The inside almost certainly did not exceed 100º for very long. If I poop out all my organs, tell my family to throw away my computer. Really, don't look. Just toss it into a fire.

Interestingly enough the Tories are throwing a shitfit about the UN special rapporteur on housing directly criticising one of their flagship policies.

Mostly because it is a policy deliberately crafted to kick the most vulnerable in the balls and she had the gall to both say so and use the commonplace name for it instead of their preferred euphemistic one.

Have the Tories always been this awful or are they learning from Republicans
