I watched one of the Russian steams last night for awhile with the audio off, because I just wanted to see some gameplay and not story spoilers. I was absolutely floored by how awesome the game looked, just driving around in a beat-up old van. Fucking incredible.

Man, sometimes I look at GTA5 and think...it might be too big.
It might be. In the chute video I tried to reclimb up the mountain. . .I never made it back up (got caught up chasing down hippy backpackers and jacking a rangers car). I then tried to take said car up the mountain, but it was too damn fat. So I drove down, spotted a sweet off-roader, got distracted by an oil tanker, blew it up and then was gunned down by automatic weapon backing backwood rednecks (who may have taken offense to me detonating a tanker in front of them).
EDIT: Second try. Easier to get up with smaller car. Grabbed an ATV off the beach.

How do you get parachutes? I saw them for sale in Ammu-Nation on one stream, but they were out of stock. I guess they unlock after a certain mission?
Are they re-usable?
guys, my amazon.co.uk order dispatched today, the warehouse is down the road right next to the post office sorting warehouse. unless the apocalypse happens im getting this game on monday.
question is, will microsoft ban my console like utter 12 year old cunts? i haven't turned my xbox on for awhile and the last time i was getting games a day early on consoles this didn't seem like much of a problem.

So my game just came in the post today. A guy I work with game came too. It arrived about 5 minutes before work. These last 7 hours have taken a while but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only two more hours and I'll be in Los Santos (with an unplugged xbox). I love amazon right now.

I think its just a better safe thing.
I know people who have gotten stuff beforehand without anything happening, but I don't know MS's rules about these things well enough to say nothing will happen for sure.
I mean at worst If something did happen you'd probably just have to go and yell at a customer service rep for a bit.

It should be fine. The 360 reads a serial number embedded into the disc and knows the difference between a legit copy and a pirate copy.
For example, in GTAIV you'd have some rare cars, but then when you actually got in one, all of a sudden there would be one parked on every street corner.

This one was right there:
At the top of the cable car, a location I am thinking serves no other purpose than to have you jump from (or entice you to climb so that you can get murdered by cats).

There are a ton of vehicles in this game. They are about as varied as the types of pedestrian which is great.

Yeah same here. I checked my Amazon order and it still hasn't shipped. There is a depot in my state...My expectation is that they'll ship the game on Monday and I'll get it on time. Which is nice I guess.

Yeah, damn Amazon for getting things to me on time. :P

This has been the case in any open world game I've played - GTA:SA, Crackdown, Saints Row, Sleeping Dogs, etc. I've always figured it was a memory thing.
10 hours in. I figure its time I actually start doing some story missions. One thing I wish there was (spoiler for this games "packages"):
That there was flavor text for the 50 "confessions" to collect. Be interesting to let some intern have gone wild and wrote it.
I'm also kind of underwhelmed by the tracklisting for the radio. As always the talk radio is the funniest, but I have spent A LOT of time on the Pop Station (listening to "Gimme More" while racing. . .it just works), and swapping to the "rock" station when Steve Winwood or Phil Collins is on.
Oh. My. Gee.
After a mission I decide Mike needs a new haircut. I pull up to a COMPLTELY random barber shop in the more. . .nice part of town. And there's this weird chick frightened in the street. I figure the game let her know I shot someone on the other side of the map and is glitching out. I decide to pimp-slap her out of her misery. No go. Donkey punch? Nope. Whatever, I need a new fade. Slide into the barber shop. . .and some guy pulls a piece on me as I walk in. The fuck. The high tail it. I run out, pop Mike's special and take out the tires. Slam into a tree killing driver. Other two beat it, pop slow-mo again, get one in the head and the other in the back. I get back, 4K (after spending almost all my money on the stock market (fingers crossed).

In games, it might be more of a function of the time-generated random number, but I'm also thinking its our brains being weird. When I bought my new car, all I could see on the road were Nissan Versas.
It's a memory limit in the engine. If you play GTA 4 on PC and you mod textures & such, you will get what is known as the infamous "Taxi Bug".. where every single car spawns as a taxi instead, because it's run out of memory regardless of how much video memory you actually have. It's not a generous limit.. Before you get to the Taxi Bug, it will generally start spawning what you last saw the most, or what you are currently using, then you'll just see that everywhere > Then on to the Taxi Bug if the memory dips more > Then on to missing textures > Then crashing
You obviously don't see it on consoles that bad because they have lower textures, not as much VRAM usage and it's kept under control.. for the most part.
This isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from here.

I can remember, right after San Andreas came out, driving to work in my Taurus, having the first 5 cars I saw be Tauruses of the same model year, and thinking that I needed a break from the game.
So I've noticed a lot of the streamers are spending time screwing around not doing missions. I'm wondering if that's because a lot of people don't want to be spoiled on the missions or is this normal? I spend 90% of my time playing GTA games doing the missions and 10% of the time screwing around. How much time do you spend doing missions versus messing around in GTA games?

Depends on how the side missions are. In GTA4, I didn't really like any of them, so I always did the main.

I guess it's one thing to read a blurb about him, but after seeing his intro, man...

He's the character you play as if you just want to fuck around. The other two I think I'll play fairly straight and without too much shenanigans.
Also ability to take selfies up your nostrils confirmed.
