Vaguely piratey. Yesterday I had a couple of pints in the Llandoger Trow, one of Bristol's oldest pubs. Built in 1664, apparently it was Robert Louis Stevenson's inspiration for the Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island.

I found the recentish treasure island 2-part BBC thing with Eddie Izzard to be pretty decent pirating/adventuring
rogue galaxy has some interesting ideas but just kind of fizzled out for me
I think I stopped playing when the main character turned out to be tied to a prophecy, fought an evil clone of himself, and then literally turned into a super saiyan

there is a bar near my parents house called the piratz tavern
it is a pirate themed tavern (surprise) and I don't know what it was like before the pirates movies came out but now about half the waiters are just doing their best johnny depp impressions, but it is still a dumb fun place to drink every now and then
the yearly sea shanty festival always brings the pirates out around here.
Last year my dad was visiting at the same time and he rode the train with a bunch of terrifying, wizened lady pirates. They had real cutlasses and west country accents you could wade through. He was delighted.
I've heard rum, water, sugar and lime juice and that the point of grog was to convince sailors to drink the water, which on long voyages was kept in disgusting slimy barrels, and the way this was done was to put more rum in the grog ration than in the rum ration, allowing the sailors to get drunker and healthier all at once
I also saw a table of rum rations allowed for each rank on board on separate occasion, but I can't find it offhand. As I recall, gunners going into battle were were allotted something like fifteen shots of straight rum to be drunk immediately, and the British still won naval battles

I had forgotten how much I love this. I love this so much.

It is! I never made that connection before!
I would assume posting pirate-themed anime would be inadvisable, correct? If so, have some sky pirates.
And space pirates I guess?
Already brought up before.

Skies of Arcadia was a title I picked up for the Game Cube at launch when its list of games was a little threadbare.
I didn't play it for years because it looked like kind of a "whatever" JRPG and I read that it was a... Dreamcast port, I think?
It just didn't sound very good.
When I finally played it, it immediately became one of my favorite games of all time.

June-ish, I think. You should come down! And Angelina! we can battle our way through hordes of acapella shantiers to try and get drinks at the pubs.
