The thing is it's sorta hard to tell if they are in kill mode or play mode because the freaking out thing is very similar. At least with ferrets you can usually judge by the tail. If tail has turned into toilet brush approach with caution because they are freaking the fuck out for realsies and come at me bro
On the plus side once you pick them up they tend to calm down almost immediately because you're that stupidly large thing that plays with them and gives them treats and smells like the things in the dresser they find a way into to sleep in. Once I got a hold of DD after she attacked the dog she just quivered in my hand until she calmed down and then fell asleep.
I mean after she got done hissing at me for daring to intervene anyways.
