Did we ever get to narrowing a time for people to hang out? I feel like we were thinking march but I didn't see the exact post. Surly taphouse is still what i'm leaning toward.

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them

I am of the status of "Whenever's good for other people I'll see if it could work for me."

I'm not extroverted enough to organize anything, just enough to attend.

That's what I'm suggesting as a tentative plan.

I always forget about that place. I've been meaning to go there forever.

Hey, I live in the Grove, so if you have any free non family time and want to get a beer before 4 PM Sat or Sun or after 10PM Sun, hit me up. And if you go to eat in Maple Grove, I'd recommend the Claddagh Pub or Three Squares Restauraunt. Three Squares also has a great happy hour 3 times a day.

@JebusHD Honestly, with this many people trying to coordinate things it'd probably be easier for you just to declare a date and time and location with a few people interested rather than hoping all can be available at once.

mostly what I'm looking for is not a date everyone can make, but feedback on what day would work for an amount of people.

Also, @MegaMan001 I sent you a message a bit ago. but I want to open the suggestion to anyone else too. Anyone who has something MN related, I'd love for you to post, what you know or are excited about.

I think I'm going to make a music post tomorrow.

Now you're just freakin me out, cuz that is where I get all my craft beer. In fact I was there last night getting some Farmgirl Saison and some Dead Guy ale

You don't think I become you when I sleep do you? Some fight club situation going on. That must be it since I would never be up at 8;30.

MUSIC! ....It's a thing we do here too!

One of the best things about Minnesota is the fantastic music. Let's go over some of it shall we? Now, first of all, you can't talk about minnesota music without mentioning the legends.

    THE LEGENDS!

This guy is probably #1 in terms of recognizability and musical influence.

    qrehu7m4d4ab.jpg

Bob Dylan was highly influential in the development of modern rock, folk, and country. Arguably one of the most influential of his time. He paved the way for a growing poeticism of rock music. Away from the sillier, light, sort of juvenile rock of the 1950's. He played a significant part in the coming of age of rock and roll.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abGzxWuLQP8

And the other legendary figure you might think of down here.

    246y0iynll5u.jpg

Prince has had a tremendous impact on the development of modern pop music, incorporating new wave, synthpop, and funk in a way that hadn't really been done before.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMUirAOqyTU&list=PL8cFaF2b783Ls-_n2LcW25VzdHXJphxSx

    Well known acts

These are acts that you have probably heard of, so I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time going over them, check the spoiler. (No particular order)
The Trashmen - Everything you need to know here is that "Bird is the word". You wouldn't think somewhere about as far away as you can get from the ocean would put out a surf album but here we were.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Gc4QTqslN4
The Replacements - Pretty huge alt rock band of the 80's

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTSJYZyouek
Semisonic - If you were alive in 1998 you had the closing time album. This was actually one of the first albums I ever bought on my own. I'm linking singing in my sleep, because everyone has heard the other one a million times.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhS3YP04Fjk
The Hold Steady - While this band was actually formed in Brooklyn, the lead singer is from here. There are often references to Minnesota in the lyrics.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttpYd5qN3dE
Soul Asylum - This band really bridged the gap between 80's hair metal and grunge. It's interesting because you can really hear both sounds in even the same song.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRtvqT_wMeY
Motion City Soundtrack - Loud fast punk rock. You've probably heard them on whatever xtreeeme! video game soundtrack. I can't remember. They are probably in about a million Tony Hawk Pro Skater style games.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY-c-_sZ8LI
P.O.S. - A decently well known rapper at this point

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OpHJUJIrpU&list=PLtvmCC_HZ2Ge_vJpqoZI59gRwmnYf1ZXl
Tapes 'n Tapes - included here because I recall some people saying they liked them here. I never really got into it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBv82B6bF4k
Owl City - Same as above

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psuRGfAaju4
Har Mar Superstar - How to describe Har Mar... Classic R&B I guess? He's pretty great.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouuqJ0pkWvU
Cloud Cult - Pretty good indie rock band

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0xt1QVsigc

    Up and Comers

Here are some acts you might not have heard of, or ones which i'm not certain are as familiar to people outside of MN.
Caroline Smith - I had the pleasure of seeing her at college for free, but that concert was definitely worth more than that. Would recommend.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdJgaG0JpsY

Hippo Campus - A fairly new band i've been hearing on the radio here. Reminds me of Vampire Weekend and Two Door Cinema Club.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV3bIvRGX8w

Dessa - Another member of Rhymesayers and Doomtree, she definitely brings something unique to her raps.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U13DaFJq8ls

Allan Kingdom - I mean, you end up on a Kanye album and people are going to take notice. I mean, talk about meteoric rise. If you haven't heard of him you will.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HLmILo_MSM

Jeremy Messersmith - Not sure how much people know about him. Probably a bit more than these other people, but still, not sure if he is nationally recognized yet. I find some of his songs a little saccharine, but overall pretty good.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FydzuRuKocI

    Radio!

We have a pretty excellent public radio funded music station here call The Current. Since it is publicly funded, mostly by donations, they have a lot of latitude in what they play compared to even other independently owned stations. This means you will hear a wider variety and more interesting things than you would most anywhere else. They stream over the internet 24/7, so I would highly recommend anyone looking for unique new sounds to listen in. It can be found here >>> http://www.thecurrent.org/ <<<

You will always find something new and interesting there.

If I missed a band that you feel deserves mention, please feel free to recommend it.

Well, that's all for this episode in Minnesota, see you next time!

East Hennepin. They have a few varieties year round, some seasonal.
I haven't made it up to their actual brewery yet but I really should. He traveled around Europe some time after high school going to a bunch of breweries. Very passionate about his beer.

Probably can't make that. I have lots of stuff to save up for.

I fid get tickets to Rock the Garden however and I would recommend all music fans go. The lineup is incredible this year.

We should work out a boardgame/ beer night still though.

I'm trying to convince my wife to do both festivals this year but Duluth is literally out of hotel rooms for the day of their festival.

    Well, decent hotel rooms.
