Does Amtrak have delays/cancellations often? I'm getting worried about the snow coming Thursday night.

I'll be heading up from Philadelphia, so I'm hoping there's no issues.

Delays yes. The regionals get delayed on good weather delays. Cancellations are less common.

On the windy side right now and a little bit of snow forecast for around 10PM tonight but otherwise should be smooth sailing for anyone flight in tonight/tomorrow morning.

Welp, apparently my flight is the only morning flight NOT cancelled so far due to impending snow tomorrow here in Maryland. So much for a stress free night/morning...

Well it has been a crazy day. I have a flight set for tomorrow at 1:45. Airport allowed changes to be made in flights free of charge do to weather. I tried calling the airport to book the flight for tonight, but I guess they were swamped with calls. So we booked a hotel room attached to the airport and tried to get a flight time change. It turns out every flight up until our 1:45 flight is cancelled but not ours. Every earlier flight is either canceled or overbooked.

So here my party and I are. At the Marriott booked for the night with our fingers crossed that our flight is on time or at worst delayed. If it is cancelled we will have to sit in queue prior to pax..... waiting for available flights. So much for an easy flight to Boston. This weather really has a chance to ruin our trip.

I'm right there with you. I hope my flight makes it out of there without issue. I'll deal with a delay if I have to. A cancellation can potentially throw the whole thing into disarray.

Flight cancelled. The next available flight isn't going to be into Boston until 5pm, so I'm gonna basically miss the whole first day.

No more PAX in March please. :(

For anyone taking Amtrak there are possible Cancellations and Delays. Keeping an eye out for my train which it "should" be ok since I am leaving Southeastern CT to Boston instead of what they said New York to anywhere will be a bit different.

This could be bad for me since I'm leaving from Philadelphia....

I'm leaving early Friday morning, so hopefully it is all clear by then...

I'm also leaving from philadelphia airport! I am currently at the attached Marriott. But I'm trying for tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Hoping Reagan Airport can keep up with the snow. My Friday 6:30 AM flight hasn't been cancelled yet, but the amount of snow DC is predicted to get is keeping me on edge.

Baltimore looks about the same as NJ area. Snow starting at 4-5 am, accumulating 6-8 inches until about 6pm. The airline knows the weather that is being called for but they see pretty confident here that they would have it safe for travel by the 1pm today which is during snowfall. I would say, or atleast hope, if they haven't made any cancelations by now, it will be on time or delayed.

I just got in to Logan from BWI, and looking at the boards there, and here in my hotel lobby, it looks like most airlines are doing for the morning what they did tonight, but to a larger degree.

They cancelled a lot of inbounds to focus on being able to clear as many international arrivals and actual outbounds as possible so those weren't affected.

What I was seeing for cancellations was very selective for the most part, with the most cancellations already being outbounds from Reagan. Until there is some ground truth from this weather system, I don't think they are going to overreact too strongly.

There is a fair to strong chance of a bust scenario for a large portion of the warned areas, however, you still have to take the proper precautions and assume that the worst scenario could still happen.

So over night tonight, just to update out of towners and such, is looking like at most 2-3 inches in the city. More to the south of the city. BUT! I changes to rain tomorrow. We had basicly the same thing last night and it whittled away some of the snow piles and got rid of the snow that had fallen.

Now i have no idea what this means for Logan Airport but the roads SHOULD, and i say SHOULD be okay for those driving.

Just be mindful of the pot holes. Haha, they are pretty bad. We like to say there are two seasons in New England, winter, and construction. haha

    Just keeping you guys updated

Just got into BOS this morning and it was fine, lightly snowing but nothing sticking, and braking action was great.

    ^^

Same for my 2:40 Flight from Toronto, i think based on that it should clear up after noon and more into the afternoon those flights will not be affected.

I wouldn't worry about snow here in MA. It is minimal and mostly South of the city.

At the airport waiting on my flight. Still on time, so I think I'm ok at this point. I've never seen the airport this light on people though lol.

Anyone driving through Northern NJ the snow isnt slowing down for a while here. The roads are messy but highways are drivable. Be careful especially if you do not know how to drive in snow! Be safe everyone!

Waiting at SFO for my flight. Had a little scare since they swapped planes and canceled the original flight but it's all good now. Now to hope I brought enough coats to survive :)

If you're coming in tonight and the snow delays your travels, be sure to call your hotel and let them know. If you show up really late, like after midnight, the hotel may consider you a no-show and cancel your room to give to someone else. I highly recommend giving them a call, just ask for the front desk.

FYI to anyone taking the Bolt Bus (like me) tomorrow- according to the website, they expect to be running at full capacity with no delays tomorrow. Fingers crossed that stays true!

How do the sidewalks look this morning? Today will be cold but hopefully anything else will melt this weekend.

Be wary of town cars waiting ag cab stands. The guys will be all "taxi taxi who needd a taxi" then once you are in and rolling will inform you of some absurd surge pricing etc.

  • creid8creid8 Registered User regular
Did anyone drive in from the NYC-ish area this morning? I missed my flight and now have to weigh how safe it really is to drive up.

  • JackWrenJackWren Registered User regular
RinSly is correct, the livery people with town cars and SUVs will be very aggressive try to get you on to charge at least double what a standard city cab would cost. Don't let them intimidate you.

This is my 4th PAX East, and I have always used the shuttles from my hotel to the CON and back. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact they have a free shuttle, but tonight's ride back was a nightmare!! Right before we left the CON, they changed the route the bus was suppose to take to get us back because of the snow and the snow removal that is going on. Well, there was was a miscommunication, faulty GPS, or a combination of different things because we ended up LEAVING Boston! No joke, we were no longer in Boston. We were on the bus for an HOUR. We FINNALY got back to were we were supose to be, and he drove by the turn to the first hotel! So we all had him pull over and we all got off. I took a taxi back to my hotel because I had to get off that bus! So basically the snow has made getting around the city for everyone basically FUBAR.
