Speaking of crowd funding science I looked back at the kickstarter for trying to build a supercomputer to calculate the exact value of PI -- also the end value of the fibonacci sequence.
It's amazing.
okay, i can see someone thinking that maybe pi is just really really really precise
but the fibonacci sequence? wtf
but when will someone finally get to the bottom of what happens when you divide by zero
syndalis "Donkey Kong" - I'm increasingly thinking that the new macbook just isn't going to cut it for me. Is there any real reason to get an air over a pro? The air isn't THAT much lighter or smaller and the pro is faster.
If you're spending the money to get an Apple laptop, the 13" Retina MBP should be your entry point unless you really, really like the MBA.
I wish more defense ministers were judged primarily on style.
I think the world would be a safer place.
defense minister is a pretty boring post for how important it is and how valued it is when it comes to doing the "government solitaire" which we call making a coalition cabinet
they're not really ever in hot water or in controversies
I remember when they were like "there won't be anymore oil" and now they pay you to take a barrel of oil because there is so much. And there were times where I was like "they can't make the iphone any nicer. It's so nice already!" but look how nice the iphone 6 is. Science will always give us everything we need without requiring us to ever put in any effort.
Changes in technology allowed access to already known sources of oil that were at the time uneconomical to reach or refine.
It is different from watching water which is an even easier to track resource disappearing without magically untapped reserves based on technology.

Ummm we found water on Mars.

The new Macbook isn't really for anyone except people who want a machine that looks really cool and have extremely low expectations for performance. Like, if my mom was really rich she'd want it because she doesn't like using an iPad to post on facebook.
The Air is a good machine, it really is. Decent performance, inexpensive, and it's not that much smaller than the pro but it's lighter. Quieter fans for sure. Better battery life. Doesn't get as hot. I've owned an air for a long time and I still think it's a nice machine.
That said, the lack of retina display is dumb and it is quite a bit slower (though not as slow as the new macbook)

Don't get me wrong, Cuba got up to some shit during the Cold War against us.
But it's time to bury that frozen nonsense. I mean, after all, we've got a shiny new Cold War to worry about!
I heard Obama got the idea after watching Frozen.
Let it go, let it go...Do you want to smoke a cubaaaaaaan?
That could go in the porn version too, unmodified.

So, a little history on SpaceX's many efforts to return a rocket stage
This is their second attempt at landing on the robo-barge, and the second time they were not able to control the descent precisely enough to manage a successful landing.
Prior to this, they've tested this same descent with several first stages over open ocean, successfully performing powered descent right up to landing in the water.
The last few feet are the hardest, apparently. Which has always been the case, and was to be expected.
Sucks to see, but another successful launch otherwise, and trouble-free delivery of their Commercial Resupply Service for NASA and the ISS, which is good news in general for the company

My plan is to use it for light gaming, so I think the pro with the iris 6100 is the way to go. Will probably get the 13" 256gb. I don't think its worth 200 to go from 8 gig to 16 gig. Is it worth 100 to go from 2.7ghz to 2.9ghz? I assume its crazy to spend $300 to go up to the 3.1ghz i7.

I really really like apple's force touch trackpad. Get the new 13" MBP because it has that.
Other laptop makers still haven't gotten regular trackpads right. Apple is streets ahead already, but they haven't stopped. removing the physical button, adding haptics and shit. Get dunked on, other laptop makers. You are terrible.

is there a place to watch the landing attempt live? I can't seem to find it
They aren't currently livecasting the landing attempts, though they do good-naturedly usually share the video afterwards, even in failed efforts such as these

you can't upgrade ram in the rMBP (it is soldered to the main board), so i would go ahead and option it out, personally.

I assume the GPU is far and away the bottleneck at that point so CPU upgrades don't matter much. But is $300 really a big deal to you? Just pick options at random, you can't especially go wrong.

You were talking about NWN2 earlier and that was the game that showed me allowing extra attacks in D20 was a super broken thing. Monk with a splash of Wizard for self-haste and the ability to have further extra attacks if I killed something. That was absurdly broken.

The "deep click" or whatever apple is calling on those new trackpads is eerie. Because your finger isn't going anywhere. It's pressed against a rigid surface. But you get the distinct impression that it has somehow sunk into the computer.

We will likely see a (very similar, I'm afraid) video from today's launch, but in terms of live footage, there's not much to see for some time now!
I'm not sure what the flight plan is re: rendezvous with the ISS, but it's a process that usually takes a day or two

Are we talking about the spa sex video? Presumably that happens around 8 and a half minutes in but I've never watched that far.

Just stop other laptops... put a normal trackpad with buttons.
You're scrub tier, just... just accept it.
