If I were to play it it would be on the easiest setting with all those easy mods on. Just for the story.
The combat is good. If you do not care for it, though, lock on and pod shooting carries the day. You can also basically mash dodge without much issue. The story is entirely worth it, even if the combat wasn't as smooth as it is.
phantom brave is crazy different from disgaea. it's overall kind of bad. i'd avoid it if you were a big disgaea fan.

Well it plays a lot like those games just with it's own tweaks on the formula.
And then has less of a wacky story. Not that it doesn't still have it's moments but it's not trying to be purposeful insane like Disgaea.
I remember enjoying it quite a bit back in the day. But that was many years ago so maybe the story doesn't hold up I can't be too sure...

he is literally the best unit in global until onion knight comes out in 6 months and aileen gets her enhancements in 7
cid just got his enhancements in japan and is once again king shit
beatrix just today got released, and is SLIGHTLY better than him, but she does not chain as well
if I never pull another 5* base again I will still be set, assuming I can get a a rikku down the road
Rikku I plan on pulling for though, and Y'shtola+Minfilia from the recent Ifrit event actually are hugely useful.

exdeath is currently the second best caster, but yeah casters are only good in certain encounters
although they still destroy in arena
also CoD is a totally acceptable attacker that has very good supporty abilities and gets enhancements fairly soon
