Those things are fucking heavy too. My roomie is a server admin and on a couple occasions he had to bring equipment home temporarily, had to help him carry it in. The density of those things is like a dying sun.

they are also totally going to knock that stack over

that much weight on a little dolly? as soon as it hits a bump in the carpet the wheels are gonna seize

Yeah, they should really be using a mule or small motorized pallet-jack.

Get tested, get tamiflu if you are are positive. Stay home from work, a new study recently showed that just breathing leaves a large amount of infectious material you don't have to cough or sneeze. If you get tamiflu fast enough you will be sick about 3-5 days instead of a week or more with possible side complications.

A cost of a doctors appointment+tamiflu is going to be less than a later ER visit or losing 2 weeks of work.

A couple years back, Mom put together a DVD from a bunch of old wrestling videos from 9th and 10th grade I didn't even know existed. Also on there was the very last football game I ever played, which I was glad to have. But man, those wrestling videos...Mom you really could have just tossed those and nothing of value would have been lost

My mom found a dvd she had made of an old recorded home tape as well. It is of my sister and myself getting an attendance award when we were early early in schooling. Of my brothers choir concerts. And one last scene of my oldest brothers graduation party.

Its cool in that its 30+ years old at this point.

Yes, and is also part of the ILI diagnoses. This is more if you are an adult.

Funny enough you get lower and fewer fevers as you get older. A 100 F fever in a 65 year old is a fever and needs to be checked. 100 F in a 6 year old though a fever has a lower chance of being serious.

Fun random bit of info on the human immune system.

You are in the normal range, barely. I mean in general health recommendations are for folks at a population scale. I would say if you feel sick, have respiratory syndromes and break 101 you probably should be checked out.

I am the opposite, I run around 97 or so normally.

    Basics for prevention:

1)Make coworkers stay home, I recommend a crowbar.
2)Wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Not like ever 10 minutes or so but like a few times a day especially before eating.
3)Clean you work area. Clorox wipes are cheap and your dirty area needs it anyway.

    Those are the easy things.

Cred, I legit thought about just going Japanese and wearing a mask. But I hate wearing a medical mask even when I worked in medical stuff. Really the biggest threat with metro is the thing is a germ farm. Wash your hands before eating and such after metroing.

The old mode was also always supposed to become free to play and will become free to play sometime this year, so I imagine a ton of people didn't bother paying $40 on whatever service Epic has for that reason.

I would recommend against being around anyone who has this flu/cold going around. It is horrible.

I will go back to being the CDC lackey here but:

If you have respitory symptoms and a fever of 100.3 F go to your doctor now. Do not stop, do not past go. Just go.

The flu is bad, we missed an H3 strain in the vaccine. It has killed people at all ages including non-immuno compromised young folks.

Thank you Mazzy I have followed all of those all week. I dont have any leave left so I came in today but I am much better after doing all that was stated and slept and drank fluids etc. I will hide out in my office today but I feel mostly human. Luckily my fever never went that high.

It wasn't specifically targeted at you, this was me doing the general public health announcement.

We have had three confirmed cases of flu in my office. And one has led to a confirmed case of pneumonia. Along with two other folks who were sick with non-influenza infections. I am full blown medical nerd mode at the moment.

I work in a co working space, there's no way to control my exposure... I'm gunna die... right?

Yeah, the Japanese medical mask thing is practical to be sure. But god damn does it look weird.

I'll preface this by saying this isn't really uncommon or super shocking but has a concerned eyebrow raised on my part.

My coworker and I have begun only being extended 90 days at a time at our job, even though our building is more full of people than it has been in a while, because we're tied to a specific disaster. Anyway, my coworker sent an email a couple of days ago about whether he'd be extended again after march. The big boss said not at this time. Coworker told me about this yesterday.

So I emailed my boss with the same question. We'll see what the reply is. Now note that shit can change overnight and the big boss may just not know what the powers that be want right now.

But it's still kinda darkly funny that the building could lose half or all of its IT support because of a technicality of a tiny (at this point) disaster shutting down. They've been "borrowing" us.

Honestly, if/when they do tell me my job is ending I will take -great pleasure- in telling the call center and others that they are losing their I.T. support.

    keyboards are gross

I was going to bring my own keyboard to work, but apparently our devs are so shitty that if they see a support person with a nice keyboard or mouse, they assume they got it from the company and will fucking steal it.

Like, we've had people in my area bring their own monitors or keyboards to work and they fucking vanish over lunch because some hoity toity Project Manager thinks he can do this shit.

100F only just qualifies as a fever (>37.5C)

Yes, and is also part of the ILI diagnoses. This is more if you are an adult.

Funny enough you get lower and fewer fevers as you get older. A 100 F fever in a 65 year old is a fever and needs to be checked. 100 F in a 6 year old though a fever has a lower chance of being serious.

Fun random bit of info on the human immune system.

what, for most definitions 37.5 is not a fever at all

it's the lower limit of the definitions with the lower limits

There's a guy in G&T who appears to be just about to finish an Oblivion Let's Play. The thread was created in 2011

That is a whole lot of Oblivion.
