Just plat'd this, my first. The only time I've even come close was with Oblivion on X-Box where I only needed one achievement to have earned them all. Now to wait for the DLC.
I'm progressing nicely through the game, have all my map icon things (backpacks, buildings, etc) except for challenges. I do not like doing challenges in other games. I do, however, want all the uniforms. I could keep re-doing the fights just to get the points, but if I have to do challenges, I may as well get platinum.
So challenges in order to get otherwise unrelated fun stuff in the game, and the repetitiveness Blackbird mentioned are the only negatives I have seen in this game. It's good.
You don't have to ace all challenges, or even bases I think. There is some leniency, although not much. But if there are one or two particular challenges that you're bashing your head against, remember that you can make an exception and just take the silver.
I think you need to silver all challenge missions, Gold one type of mission (stealth is the easiest imo) then gold one other type. And that let's you unlock all of the gadgets and suits.
(And you might not need to unlock all gadgets, maybe I could be wrong on this)
Ok to reclarify this since I booted this up again, if you unlock all the gadgets. You need to go silver everything gold all of one type, then gold four more challenges. I've been doing stealth and combat and just throwing gadgets everywhere.

Also very true! You don't need to craft any suit mods, and only need to craft 15 gadget upgrades as well.

woop woop, got platinum, and even managed to get gold on a challenge or two
this is only the second game I've platinumed, the first being Horizon: Zero Dawn. I guess I really like open-world games with good storylines and combat that never gets old, who knew

Ditto. Those are the only games I've ever platinumed as well, largely for the same reasons.

You'd definitely like Infamous: Second Son or the small scale prequel (30$ release price) Infamous: First Light. Those games are very similar to Spiderman: Open world, fun traversal systems, many collectibles, and most importantly, the platinum trophy doesn't require anything too tedious or difficult! The only downside is that I found the combat of Second Son to be somewhat uninteresting, although they definitely improved it First Light.

Canned chili is kind of bland. That is today's discovery.

I really enjoy eating dumplings but they take so long to make and I eat them so fast it's almost disappointing. I'm starting to think they might be in the category of food to only eat from restaurants because making it is too much of a hassle. Like fried chicken.
Apparently you DONT need to get good in the challenges for the trophy

You have a pretty wide margin of challenges you need to get gold on when it comes up upgrading everything
I don't want to dig around for the screenshot I took, but if I remember the math correctly, you can afford to not get gold on about 5 challenges and still have enough tokens to unlock and upgrade everything

IIRC, you can miss gold on three challenges
As a disclaimer, I have the preorder bonus so I don't know if any of those suits normally required challenge tokens to unlock
I need quite a few challenge tokens to unlock the rest of the gadget upgrades and suits
I want the power from the cel-shaded or whatever suit more than I want the suit
I mostly wear the variants of the classic red and blue, with occasional Scarlet Spider sessions
I am terrible at the challenges

My advice to most people would be to not spend challenge tokens on suit mods (The good ones don't need them anyway) and leave off upgrading some of the later gadgets until last
For some reason, I just suck out loud at stealth challenges. Combat challenges are easy, bomb are ok, drones can be tough for me but are generally doable, but stealth. Just... time goes poof, people I don't see see me, and I just want go in and beat all them up.
So I'm planning on re-doing combat challenges to get enough points to buy my stuff.

The biggest thing for the stealth challenges for me was that your takedown score combos if you can chain them within enough time, so getting 5-6 kills in quick succession gives you a ton of points, then you can much more methodically take out they guys that are linked
For stealth challenges, make liberal use of the triangle takedown or impact web rather than sneaking up on people and webbing them up, it saves you a ton of time.
And check your power/skill setups, you can use some to make things easier. Like increasing the range of your scan, having the scan stay active until you get spotted, and I think there was one that makes them slower to spot you (which means you can attack one guy head-on and still web-strike him before he actually spots you).
For combat challenges the most important thing is speed and not getting hit and losing your combo, so base your suit power/skills around that. There's a skill that lets you take the occasional hit without losing your combo, so that's a big help.
End game:
If you come to it after completing the story, the one hit kill on you and enemies is a good one if you're up to it, as you can just zip from one to another.
Failing that, the quad-power one or similar does much the same thing.
They all tie together anyway. If you're doing it fast you're not getting hit because that slows you down, and that means you're not losing health or your combo.
It's never worth doing lots of weak moves just to build your combo higher, because the payoff in time is much worse.
This game is pretty good but I wish it had about 30% less stuff to do. I have a weird brain compulsion to stop for everything I see but also wish I didn't have to do it.

I understand that, but at the same time every collectible has something to offer besides raising an arbitrary count by 1:
- Landmarks flesh out the setting's background
- Every backpack gives you a glimpse into Spiderman's past and past adventures
- The pidgeon's lead to a homeless man bonding with Peter over his tragic past
- The science stations all offer small and (mostly) unique minigames
- The Taskmaster stations and Sable outposts give you opportunities to truly test your skill with the game's mechanics
- The Fisk hideouts, Demon warehouses and Prisoner camps mostly allow you to let loose and just beat up waves of bad guys (the side objecives can easily be taken care of within the first wave)
I much, much prefer this over, say, Assassin's Creed where you have a map cluttered with chests that give you an insignificant amount of currency, or "Animus fragments" that only raise an arbitrary counter by 1, maybe giving you some slightly stronger piece of equipment (that's useless because you can just counter-kill every enemy in the game within one hit).
Just my two cents. It also helps that unlike many other games, Spiderman gives you an incredibly fast and fun traversal system. No need for vehicles or fast travel stations. You ARE the vehicle and can fast travel at any time!

I'll probably go back for it eventually, but the stuff I have left is finishing the districts, and it's just time consuming enough that I don't wanna
EDIT: Also because I worried that the random crimes would get diluted by the old crimes returning
Satans..... hints.....

Hmm thanks for the rec, I do need a new game.
character spoilers
May be old news for other people but I didn’t read the bios in the game for whatever reason and I’m not overly familiar with Morbius’ backstory.

There’s a good looking dumpling recipe in Spider-Man though!
my madman of a father has a little garden where he grows very spicy peppers and herbs and stuff and turns them, alchemically, into sauces
sauces that are basically impossible to add to your dish without it immediately becoming a like, runny nose burning face catastrophe
that's what I put in canned chili, usually, but you could probably just do like, tabasco or something I bet
edit: Like, seriously, if there was a break-in at my house, or the Purge or something, I'd go for his sauces before I'd go for a proper weapon
have a squirt of this through the eyeholes in your spooky clown mask, Purger
(Full game spoilers)
Why even make me scan it like 8 times, to not deny me at the end
EDIT: They even make you go there during the hallucination mission, but don't let you use the keycard!

You just need to do silver, right?
I don't think I ever failed to get silver even when I mega fucked up a challenge
Getting gold can occasionally be incredibly difficult
You can get the platinum only getting gold on like, half or less of the challenges
Liberally abuse the left trigger aim slowdown, particularly for drone and bomb challenges but it's also super useful for stealth and combat
When the main factor is how fast you finish, being able to slow the clock down for a second is a huge relief
