    The North Koreans aren't "other" but their society is "other." Imagine a society run by the very worst of the Republican party, and you can get sent to a concentration camp for not conforming, and there are spies at every level of society.

    Basically this is a situation where both sides are using "madman theory." North Korea has always used this "we are crazy and always lie and always go back on our word so you'd better treat us with kid gloves and appease us" diplomatic technique. Problem is, that's exactly the same technique as Trump uses. We are seeing the two collide as both sides try to be the craziest and most unpredictable and most unreliable to spook the other side into making concessions.
