Other people have come around on Bakugo and I can see why, but I am extremely Not There Yet.

I suspect a lot of it has to do with how long you've been reading the series? A lot of the perceived growth was probably larger if you were waiting week-on-week and able to see and think about every chapter as they happened vs marathoning it so it all seems to come at once.
Ugh... They've really leaned into Mineta being a dirt bag at the start of season 3.
I know its like an anime trope,but I would love it if one of the respected adult character sat him down and one point and just said "Yo this is not cool stop it"
They constantly tell him to stop!

Aizawa expelled entire classes on the first day years past but Mineta gets a pass
That bit was always weird
I think at some point (maybe right before the training camp trip) Aizawa calls him out specifically on it, but there are no ramifications for him trying to scale the wall of the baths.
The only saving grace is that sort of like how the rest of the class respects Bakugo’s strength but call him out on being a jerk they shut down Mineta and think he’s a creep.
The most depressing part is knowing that he will literally never change because the author likes him.
The fact that so many other characters on the show has pointed out how terrible Mineta may be the single redeeming feature of the character.
The fact that nobody makes any effort to change Mineta (least of all Mineta) may be the most damning.
He also has a really interesting power with lots of cool possibilities, but no his screen time has to be delegated to him being a huge perv instead of anything even remotely interesting.
The fact that Mineta was admitted to Class 1-A is baffling not because he's a pervert nor because his power is kind of odd, but because he doesn't want to be a hero at all. He's a coward, he wants to avoid danger as much as possible, and he panics at the first sign of trouble. That doesn't spell superhero to me.
He wants to be a hero, but he just wants to be a hero so girls will like him. It's what motivates him to finish his finals and actually succeed.
And look that's a shitty fucking reason to want to be a hero, but

I haven't watched an anime in a good long while, but am giving this one a go. Pretty good so far. Only just got to the first episode of the sports tournament thingy last night.
Okay, I like that because his quirk is that he gets stronger the more stressed he gets, his final form is getting a giant robot suit, not because it has special abilities but because it inflicts so much pressure on him and stressed him out even more.

One thing I really dig in superhero media is when they have characters use powers in clever, creative ways instead of just brute force brawling all the time. Particularly if they are being used in conjunction with other characters' powers in fun, creative ways.
