It has been fun watching the Lynnwood housing market slingshot over the past year. Our house's estimated value is up 14% from when we bought it a year ago. The 3 houses in our neighborhood that went up over the past month are either sold or have pending offers. The nicest is a 1200sqft place that went for 100k over asking at 650k. The 900sqft house on a 15,0000 sqft lot is pending for 500k and the extremely dated foreclosure looks to be selling for around 550k.

Depending on the lot size developers are going to buy those up, smash whatevers there and then make like 10 million on the sub development they put on it

It's been wild keeping an eye on Port Orchard, houses are now selling from $5-$30/sf more than we paid and we closed in March. There are some houses in our area starting to push a million dollars on tiny lots. Look, I get these are nice, new, big houses, but it's Port Orchard and not anywhere near a water view.

Same. Edmonds is out of goddamn control now. My condo I moved in last march is already up 6.5% according to Redfin, and similarly configured condos (2bd2bath ~1000 sq ft) are going for at least 360k and up if not 400k for the newer units. Houses are pretty much untouchable for anyone not making 100k+ with a massive down payment. Cheapest ones I can find that don't require massive updates/rehab loans are around 480k and just go up from there. I'm amazed I managed to snag out my unit for $315k when I did right before the pandemic shut everything down.

I banked almost $30k in the past year, living frugally, looking to do a downpayment and have been outpaced by the market. I really want to stay in Seattle, but I'm fast approaching the point in my life I want to not be worried about a landlord deciding I can't live in my place next month more.

Sounds like groups are trying to pressure the governor to open the state by June 15, like California, without realizing that California has put in some work to get their Covid numbers down: https://kuow.org/stories/wa-trade-group-urges-mid-june-reopening

Meanwhile the Sounders and Mariners will be opening up vaccinated fan sections soon (up to 22k fans total at games, 9k max unvaccinated).

Well I think its less they aren't vaccinated and more they aren't being checked. But lets be honest as bad as the ms are right now 22k fans at a game is a big ask.

On a losing streak, they've won like 2 games in the last 6, and narrowly avoided getting perfect gamed this week by a team that's below .500. And losing again tonight. And this is before the June skid.

I stand corrected they came back tonight, but everything else was true!

Letting in 9k unvaccinated, just seems incredibly incredibly stupid.

The Sounders have had 7k fans for their first 2 home games so far, not sure on the M's attendance. They've had fans pretty well scattered around the light (is that the new nickname for Lumen field?), as the typical seating config for Sounders is somewhere around 45k. The vaccinated fan sections are going to be in addition to what they've already had open but in separated sections, the team informed the supporters groups that at least 1 section of the 3 reserved for the ECS will be a vaccinated fan section. Also, the Sounders and Mariners are now offering walk up vaccinations at the stadiums before, during, and after the games (but the vaccinated fan sections are only for people who have been fully vaccinated, including the 2 weeks after the 2nd or J&J shot). There were 91 vaccinations at the last Sounders match (the first time they've offered in stadium shots).

I guess today we're going to get an incentive from the governor to get vaccinated (hopefully backdated to the already vaxxed like other states have done) I have noticed at the local grocery stores mask signs now say "for the unvaccinated its encouraged to wear a mask" and I'm seeing more and more people without.

Yeah, the graphs are fine, but the table data the graphs are based off of ended at Washington #1 with 69% vaccinated (nice)and 3 days to hit 70%.

I was looking at the data table, not the charts.

Those graphs are also much further down in the article. I just wanted the data so once I saw the data table, I stopped reading it

WOO I CAN LOSE SOMETHING ELSE NOW!

Lottery cash drawings, with prizes totaling $2 million
Higher education tuition and expense assistance
    Sports tickets and gear
    Gift cards
    Airline tickets
    Game systems and smart speakers

Spoilers for the actual list of things you can win!

    Cash prizes
Starting next week, the Lottery will conduct one drawing for $250,000 every week for four weeks for all vaccinated individuals. At the end of the four weeks, there will be an additional, final drawing for a $1 million prize.
Vaccinated Washingtonians don’t need to do anything to be entered in the four drawings. The Lottery will automatically gather names from the DOH statewide immunization database.
The governor was joined by Marcus Glasper, director of the Washington State Lottery, for the announcement.
“Washington’s Lottery is proud to partner with the Governor’s Office and the Department of Health on this important promotion,” Glasper said. “As the state’s principal agency on conducting lottery drawings, we are honored to be able to play even a small role in administering a promotion that helps ensure that our state’s residents are healthy and protected as we continue to move towards ending the pandemic.”
    Higher education assistance
Inslee also announced a suite of higher education incentives, including tuition and book assistance at institutions across the state.
Nearly $1 million will be dispersed directly to the public four-year universities and two-year community and technical colleges to run their own drawing for free tuition and expenses for vaccinated students.
The state will also be offering 30 prizes of one year of tuition college credits to 12–17-year-olds through the Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET program). These credits will go directly to families.
    Tickets
Also included in the incentives announced today are various ticket prizes offered by Washington companies and sports teams.
    Potential prizes include:
    Alaska Airlines
2 free airline tickets to anywhere Alaska flies
    Seattle Mariners
4 tickets to an upcoming game
Full suite to an upcoming game
    Seattle Sounders
4 tickets to a game in August, plus two autographed jerseys
    Seattle Storm
10 tickets a game for the rest of the season
    Seattle Seahawks
4 club level seats, plus parking passes
    Seattle Kraken
    Concert tickets
    OL Reign
Four 2021 season tickets, plus a team-signed jersey
    Game systems and smart speakers
The governor also announced that several technology companies are offering technology and software to help the state’s efforts to get people vaccinated.
Microsoft will be giving away 300 Xboxs and GamePasses to vaccinated individuals, and Nintendo will be giving away Nintendo Switches. Google will give away 25 Google Nests and Amazon will be giving away 100 Echo Dots.
    Gift Cards
In addition to the above incentives, the Washington State Department of Commerce partnering with the Association of Washington Business (AWB) and local Chambers of Commerce will be purchasing $1 million of gift cards to local businesses through local chambers of commerce to be given away at vaccine locations. Commerce and AWB will be sharing additional details soon about the locations and dates where this program will roll out.
The Washington State Department of Health will also have $500,000 in gift cards to give away over the summer as part of their Care-a-Van mobile vaccination effort. The gift cards will be for different kinds of retail offerings — from groceries to fishing gear to top soil.
The Washington State Parks will also be giving away 80 “one week of free camping” gift cards, worth $250 each, and the Washington Department for Fish and Wildlife will be giving away 80 $100 gift certificates for fishing and hunting licenses. Also included will be 400 Discover Passes, which allow access to recreation on State public lands.
“Choices have consequences. The vaccine is our best and safest chance to get back to pre-pandemic levels of activity,” Inslee said. “It is a personal choice, but one that affects the lives of millions. The choices we make affect our neighbors, our friends and our families. So, I hope more people make the right choice, to learn more about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and to get vaccinated.”
If you or a loved one has yet to get vaccinated, make an appointment at VaccineLocator.doh.wa.gov.

I love that the state is buying $1 mil worth of gift cards to Washington state businesses. It would have been nice to see them do something similar a year ago to try to save existing businesses, but that will be a nice boost to local small business.
