The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
After nearly a decade of western studios recreating classic anime films like,
Ghost in the Shell
Alita Battle Angel
Speed Racer
And Dragonball
Anime has had enough! Now is the time to rise and appropriate popular western films in our own image. Films like,
Aliens
Terminator
Blade Runner
And the 5th Element.
The fledgling movement is still weak however, and even a single lewd could topple it. Remember boys and girls and non-binary beauties, Anime is a privilege not a right. Don’t be gross!

Yet still we have no Darkness figma
Funimation
Crunchyroll
Netflix
Amazon Prime
Hulu
There's others but I'm not 100% on legality, so we'll skip them. Also, remember that netflix can do disks for lots of anime whose streaming licenses have expired.
Manga's options are more limited.
Viz has a ton of volumes and access to Shonen Jump (and it's super cheap if you want to support the industry)
Mangaplus is basically the same thing in regions Viz doesn't cover. Both of them have the 3 most recent chapters free to everyone, i think.
Crunchyroll also has a small selection of manga.
Beyond that, you're looking at volumes.
If someone with Prime unlimited or whatever it is for Kindle, I'd be interested if that has manga. I have no idea.
The one thing you have to put up with is dvd/blu ray randomness.
Like, some series are like "every part except 2 is blu ray, but part 2 is dvd".
They're also crap about replacing lost or broken disks, so some series are lost to time.

i didn’t even realize disc netflix still existed
Gridman is good, go watch it.
March Comes in like a Lion is sad, go watch it.
Attack on Titan is totally Fascist (post incoming about that).
The old Neon Genesis Evangelion is way better than the new one (don’t at me), and is totally about The Hedgehog’s Dilemma (no, seriously).
Jojo has its own thread
In manga news;
Delicious in Dungeon is great, and available in English at Yen Press, go read it.
Berserk is on hiatus again.
Send me your recommendations and I’ll update the list.

You have a wishlist of DVDs/BluRays and they mail you three discs at a time. When you're finished you send them back, then three more come along
yeah it was netflix’s original business before they started streaming
I used local alternative LoveFilm before Amazon bought them up and discontinued it.

"...only mights and maybes."
Great
Hajime No Ippo (Anime) - Pacing so good one hundred episodes flies by along with a really well developed cast of supporting characters. A mix of sports and comedy that holds up incredibly well.
Slam Dunk (Manga) - Old but still one of the best sports series told. It's a bit cliche, but that's partly because it invented many of them. Some really well realised characters in here.
Redline (Movie) - Redline took seven years to make, all completely hand drawn. Amazing soundtrack and looks absolutely gorgeous in HD. Dub is excellent.
H2 (Manga) - Narrowly edges out the rest of Adachi's baseball works. The dynamic between the main character and his best friend turned rival is compelling, especially towards the end.
Ping Pong the Animation (Anime) - A character study told through sports. Follows half a dozen high school students over several years as discover their motivation, goals and what drives them.
Haikyuu (Anime) - The current big sports series. The main team and roster are all very likable and does a great job of making you care about all of the opposing major teams.
Baby Steps (Manga) - A little gimmicky at the start before it finds it's identity and improves dramatically. It's romance element is one of it's biggest strengths throughout and a strong cast.
Megalo Box (Anime ) - What if instead of just boxing the boxers had giant motorised mechanical arms attached to their backs? A modern retelling of a famous older boxing series.
Good
Touch (Manga) - Another Mitsuru Adachi baseball manga with two brothers, the older hard working, the younger easy going. Circumstances force the younger brother to try and meet his brother's goals.
Cross Game (Anime) - The second most recent series by Adachi and the most modern. Like all of his series it's equal parts slice of life and sports. The best starting point for his works.
Kuroko's Basketball (Anime) - A bit more style than substance, but the premise is simple and entertaining even when you know what is coming. It's three seasons long but incredibly easy to binge.
Chihayafuru (Anime) - Sports but with cards! And poetry! A third season is on the way this year after a gap of several years.
Real (Manga) - The follow up series by the author of Slam Dunk that deals wheelchair basketball and hits a more series tone than his first series.
Initial D (Anime) - The soundtrack drags this series from obscurity to being worth watching. The CGI in the first season is rough but the soundtrack is unrelenting eurobeat cheese throughout that was inexplicably dumped in the dub so stick with the subtitled version if you can find it.
Eyeshield 21 (Manga) - A gridiron series that is a really wild mix of cliff hangers and misfits on a single team.
Okay
Days (Manga) - Slow start with a somewhat aggravating protagonist. Improves greatly once he becomes motivated.
Giant Killing (Anime) - Just a good overall soccer series. Cast are adults in a professional club rather than high school and deals with some of the struggles of low division soccer.
Diamond of the Ace (Manga) - The series' pace is absolutely glacial that offers some good story once established. Glacial
Don't Bother
Knight of the Area (Manga) - Okay premise but not executed very well. Takes a long time to deliver.
Air Gear (Manga) - Initial set up is a lot of fun but trails of into absurdity once it leaves it's street roots. Excessive fan service as well.
Basquash (Anime) - Macross crossed with Basketball. Again, too much fan service.
Robot X Laserbeam (Manga) - Short lived golf series.
Prince of Tennis - (Manga) - Players have superpowers, others end up bloodied and even crippled in international play. It is not as interesting as any of these things suggest.
I think it included the name “Nyarko-San”.

Crwth would never mislead you.
Unless your faith waivered . . .

Nah, it was just a joke “no anime” thread that went one hundred pages.
We were sure to follow the rules as presented by crwth and never talk about anime

There's like a bunch of these in the playlist

Don't fuck it up.
wait REAL? wasn't the Slam Dunk guy the Vagabond guy? What about that one?
Also holy SHIT how did I not notice he did character design work for Lost Odyssey, it's so obvious in retrospect.
Switch - SW-7373-3669-3011
Fuck Joe Manchin
I have no idea where this arc is going but its insane
I recall seeing it on one of the season preview charts but it looked way too fan servicey so I never watched it and it has not be been ranked.
I checked in on it recently out of curiousity and it's good to know some things never change.
I noticed it was ongoing recently but didn't realise that was the case, I thought it had just gone on hiatus forever.
edit: The fanservice is pretty blatant, though. On that we agree.
Ok but Moon boobs really should dock it points( on this list)
There is also a much cheaper one disc at a time plan. It's better than Redbox if you just wanna see new movies and are patient but also want to see stuff on your own schedule (aka not be penalized for being late).
