What the fuck is with all the incest porn jokes lately?
Its a popular genre on Pornhub now.
I assume.
95% sure this is something that got accelerated by Game of Thrones. Also probably hentai, but mostly game of thrones.
I have a friend that is a sex therapist and has strong opinions on how this is screwing with young peoples heads.
Elaborate?
I'm not sure how old you guys are but i'm around 40.... This much porn at that young age would have essentially melted my brain to begin with.
She's saying the sheer quantity of incest porn is twisting younger folks who are going through puberty that being into your family thinking that they should be into it. It's kinda crazy when you look at the "most popular" section and it's like 90% of it is incest.
That category works because it's "taboo" but for those young enough to not have a "normal" yet it skews pretty hard. The sheer amount of porn has it's big drawbacks as well....

Eh. This stuff has been around. The Barbi twins are almost 60. The *very* recent surge is likely due to the cultural shift in how families are changing these days, and at least in Western media it's mostly step-family stuff. Game of Thrones is a reference to the long history of royal inbreeding. Japan has had its thing for a lot longer than computers have been around.
As for Rick and Morty's use, it's a show that almost entirely revolves around pop culture. Just about every episode is either about movies or memes or both. Morty is going to constantly be looking at the problematic parts of the internet, whatever they currently are, and they are going to constantly make jokes referencing contemporary culture, which makes me wonder how quickly this show is going to feel dated.

I mean cripes, the dragon episode.
If you take the top 10 incest videos on Pornhub you would have over a billion views.... And 7 of those are already on the most viewed of all time.
incest has existed literally forever. Hell, Europe's royal are all snips of the same tree. The step family thing is a veneer that does not follow it's own internal logic in videos and only done to avoid some state laws.
Anyway, enough porn talk... This is probably the weakest episode of the season for me so far. Still pretty good overall though.

Harmon tends to go into disturbing territory at times.
I think its more Roiland in this case.
They've worked together for years, it's safe to say they have similar senses of humor. Roiland has even said he likes making people uncomfortable while watching his stuff.
I agree the "Jerry is a loser" stuff gets old quick. I like it when the characters are multidimensional, as otherwise I feel you get Flanderazation where you can guess the punch line a head of times.
Him actually leading a somewhat successful society was a pretty good twist.
I liked the plot in this episode, it’s weird and fun. But man where the character beats generic as hell; Jerry’s a loser, Rick’s a god, Beth has daddy issues, Summer and Morty do... something. It was as pretty boiler plate character wise, though I do like how Beth and Jerry kinda just get over the whole battle they engaged in and move on, that was a surprise. Usually they’re bickering in the end.

This was also the episode where he has his wife marry a huge, unlovable nerd.
Lot of strands in harmons mental web.

I feel like halfway through the episode everyone was getting to do what they wanted and having a good time despite the situation they were in. Jerry got to go camping, Beth got to spend time with Rick, Rick got to show off, Morty got to play games and Summer got to get high. Then of course it all comes crashing down.

I mean, it's nice to see Jerry actually accomplish something, even if he fucks it up, then to have him attempt something small/go along with someone else's plan, screw it up, and be called a loser for it. Or just be called a loser in general.
Though knowing this show it'll probably be the last time Jerry actually accomplishes something for a while. Holy shit, the unemployment jokes? Now?
I mean what I took from this episode was Jerry and Beth are bad parents, but Rick is a worse parent. Maybe even to the point where the idea of even calling him a parent at all is farcical.

Looks like Glasses Morty's wish at the Wishing Portal came true.

Huh, interesting.

I mean there's also the original origins of Rick & Morty.

If Rick and Morty were grounded and wholesome, no one would watch it.

Obviously Rick would prefer Marvel Succubi.

so is it still incest?
Pretty sure all the clay people are related, so yeah it's still incest porn.
Rick still refers to that Beth as his daughter, doesn't he?
You know what? Never mind. It is way too early to be defining what is and isn't sci-fi incest.
Identical dna
It is always too early to define this.
