Its going to rock when he pushes out some dog shit right wing omnibus and the entire liberal machine from the bottom up tells us its the best he could have ever conceivably done

The Biden/Harris administration is going to be the most progressive US adminstration the world has ever seen, and if you disagree here are 83 paragraphs of me explaining how you are technically wrong in many ways, you're a naive sexist and racist so there.

Corrected for the actual rhetoric out there right now.

I wonder how many folks played it safe in creating diverse media because they didn't want to be pillored by the supposed ally?

This is what I find absolutely disgraceful about the state of discourse now.

Intersectionality was originally conceived of in the labor movement as a means to find common-ground between individual people as a means to come together and organize for better labor conditions and the overall betterment of the average persons ability to find dignity and happiness in their society.

In the hands of the defenders of the 'comfortable' status-quo it's been warped into this bludgeoning instrument that's meant to indoctrinate as well as clearly delineate who is considered 'acceptable'; just as surely as the idea of a good Christian has been misused by the conservative right.

American liberalism has only ever accepted any notion of intersectionality when its on their terms.

American liberalism is intersectional only in that it believes the exceptional of all peoples should have the right to rise into the professional classes. Everyone else gets fucked and deserves it.

For the very specific idea of exceptional which is adding value to a for-profit institution, or otherwise excelling at providing political cover for such institutions.

I’d drill down even further and say it’s a form of exceptionalism gatekept by the educational system - making it a series of hurdles for those who go through K-12 in public schools and a flat plane for those who came up through elite private schools designed to declare every child of wealth and privilege exceptional.

The elite private schools and colleges that feed into leadership positions at elite institutions should give the game away, but there’s enough leakage that there’s always someone who came up through the public systems that they can extoll to prove the system is fair and unbiased.

capital is really really good at recognizing threats to its power and either murdering or co-opting them. the idea that everyone who has to work for a living maybe having different specific struggles from one another but they're all ultimately on the same side on the big shit is like the number one thing the people who run things can't allow to take root on a large scale. using identity politics shit to deflect salient criticism of individual people has turned out to be effective as hell. it's basically a neoliberal adaptation of the time-honored tradition of convincing poor white folks that all their ills are caused by other poor folks and not the motherfuckers that own everything and grudge the rest of us the tiniest scraps of wealth we get

like, much is being made of how Diverse biden's cabinet is gonna be. it definitely isn't nothing that it's not just white dudes who'll be advising the president, but they're all still rich. i want to see retail workers who have to try and live on 25 grand a year to be in positions of power

If you start giving retail workers power, you have to deal with the fact that unions are pretty much gone and most retail shops are dictatorships where workers must do what they are told or lose their jobs, homes, and die on the streets.

Larry Summers signature achievement was transferring the wealth of the USSR to the oligarchs and paving the way for Putin. With that achievement, he rose to the presidency of Harvard and advised Obama on how to handle the 2008 crisis, paving the way for Trump.

If you want to steer a nation toward fascism, Larry Summers is your man.

it gets better! he was one of the architects behind the policy decisions which led directly to the 2008 mortgage crisis.

few individuals are more directly responsible for how shit the economic landscape of the US is than larry summers and the fact that he's still taken seriously anywhere is proof that nobody in government or media is capable of extracting accurate conclusions from evidence.

This presumes their interest was in extracting accurate conclusions instead of in extracting wealth from the populace

    Well

It is the systemic function of capitalism.

See for example: The massive amount of wage theft that occurs in the US.

Or how our tax revenue is spent such that, instead of providing for the worst off among us, let alone the whole populace of the country, it instead goes to fund endeavors that funnel money into the upper classes by and large (or weapons whose ultimate purpose is to take millions of dollars in time and resources and explode the result).

So I guess to “get in on that” the answer is: ingratiate yourself to the capitalist class in some manner that you would, eventually, be welcomed in as one of them. Mind you the cost is, you know, your soul and the occasional holiday visit by ghosts but are those really that bothersome to deal with?
