Wait they animated Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies? Dang that was fast. It's kind of a short one in the manga.
Er, wait, they can see his level in the anime? The whole point of the story is people keep thinking he's weak because of narrative circumstances constantly happening (like One Punch Man) and so does he because he was the weakest person in the village so he has no frame of reference regarding regular people.
A couple characters have an aside asking if either knows what the hell he is, and it's done fairly well.

I didn't catch that people could see his level, but there's a handful of people that can feel something is intimidating about him.

I didn't mean that literally, just that they looked at him and would have been very happy if he was somewhere far away.

Oh, sensing his aura. Yeah there's a couple people who figure it out real quick.
I watched So I'm a Spider, So What's 1st episode, and the lead actress absolutely kills it as the spider. I think I get why this is popular.
I saw a lot of CG in the trailer, so I was a bit apprehensive. How's the animation looking so far?
It's fine? Well, it doesn't bother me, but CG in general doesn't grate on me. If they need to save a few bucks making generic monsters CG, that's fine by me.
The dynamic action of the MC spider moving was actually pretty good. I think the writing/acting is going to be the strong point of the series.
I hope so, since she will have to monologue through like 100 episodes
There were other characters:
It looks like one full high school class + teacher got reincarnated into different bodies.
The teacher is in an elf, and she's tracking down her whole class, who are a bunch of nobles in the new world. Kind of interesting B plot.
That B plot was definitely not in the manga at all.
It's in the web/light novel, but it takes a while to show up so I guess they fast-tracked it.
That series goes places. I personally wasn't too fond of where it ended up, in particular there's one big power-up that kind of came out of nowhere and I hope they foreshadow it more in adaptation, but it went places.

@Peas I just noticed your new sig that's hilarious.
First impressions and thoughts on the the first two episodes of Princess Nine, Gurren Lagann, and Erased (three shows I have never watched & knew nothing about) that we watched tonight.
Princess Nine
-- This show is fantastic. Love me the anime version of A League of Their Own, including anime drunk Tom Hanks.
-- The music on this show is amazing.
-- This show's a real trip back to the 90's via the dubbing.
Gurren Lagann
-- This is a PSX JRPG about a Nu-Metal band.
-- This show is clearly the most problematic of the three shows we watched. Holy shit the male-gaze in this is bad, as is the character of Leeron Littner.
Erased
-- Wowza this show is good.
-- Sachiko Fujinuma was my personal MVP of any character in all three shows we watched tonight.
Ok I'm watchin along! Doing the dubs like y'all are.
Princess Nine - This show is a pretty decent sports anime so far. The dub is a little rough. I tend to watch newer shows so it's fun to see the differences in animation style.
Gurren Lagann - I've tried to get into this one twice before and fell within the first 5 eps both times. I know it's supposed to eventually get good so right now I'm rewatching the episodes I wasn't really feeling with that in mind.
Erased - This show rules so far. Agree that the mom is a great character. It's gonna be real hard not to watch ahead on this one - I gotta know what's going on!

I knew I have to grab that the moment I saw that panel
The artist/author are extremely talented at having lots going on in the background and foreground simultaneously, while still being balanced and advancing the chapters. The reaction panels of the whole cast at once are always excellent.
I am really curious what's the breaking point in terms of effort spend and composition for the artist lol
The closest comparison I could think of would be Negima but even with the huge cast the characters wouldn't be together 24/7 and be broken up into manageable crews
If people start watching Gintama from scratch now they will probably be very unimpressed for most of the first 50 episodes of the anime
I made it through 80% of 1.
Episodes 1 and 2 are considered filler and the official story starts at 3 but even then I would advise just jumping to the closest serious arc and see if it grabs you from there
The Erased anime has a different ending than the manga/live action series. Same general result, but goes about it differently. Live action series is also on a streaming service, and I think it even has a dub.

I really liked the Erased show. Though I started watching it at a low point, emotionally, and that was a mistake.
Watched a couple new romcom shows about kids who are hiding their true selves.
Horimiya was pretty good. The boy is kind of a shy loner at school, but he’s actually tattooed and pierced and kinda cool away from school. The girl is the popular pretty one but she skips out on being social after school because she has to raise her little brother and act like a parent. The two learn each other’s secret lives and start up a friendship / relationship after school. So far it’s pretty sweet and had one particular line that made me bust out laughing and I could see becoming a meme. I like it and would recommend it overall. There is a creeper for a teacher though, which sucks, but he is mercifully not in most of the ep after the start.
Bottom tier character tomozaki has a similar premise but I did not care for this one quite as much. The dude is just a typical hikkikomori piece of shit who is super good at a smash bros clone. The girl is the popular pretty one, but secretly she’s the second best smash player. When she realizes that her rival is this piece of shit she sets out to improve him and get him a girlfriend, but also she’s kind of a jerk about it. I don’t really like shows where the lead is one of those “real life is for losers you gotta play the god tier video game” folks, so even if the show is about this guy realizing how to be a part of society I probably won’t keep going.
I don't think Cells at Work is a Netflix original?
The English side is 'simulcasting' a few days ahead of the Japanese broadcast. Or at least the first episodes were.
My problem with Cells at Work is that every episode is the same thing. There's always some super disaster that turns out to be sneezing, or a splinter, or a cough, or a cold, etc etc, with one token new character. There's a ton of room for them to do something like specific disaster or horror movie parodies, or change the disaster so that it actually represents the malady in some way, or structure it more like a procedural where they're figuring it out, or even just go full Osmosis Jones, but it's always pretty much generic apocalypse with random monster germ so the white blood cell can show up. Like you could pretty freely totally swap a shitload of the factoids explaining the illness of the week on a bunch of episodes, and everything would still make sense, which just makes so many of them feel exactly the same.

Horimiya is a pretty good romance manga, that teacher shows up occasionally but no one doesn't think he's a creep, so there's that at least
The hidden dungeon only I can enter has a simple premise. Hero has 4 broken powers one gives him a severe headache the other 3 drain his LP all can be fixed by fanservice
Despite all this the hero is also an oblivious idiot so thats annoying. At least 2 major problems in the first episode can be solved by using his powers but they completely ignore that

I had the same reaction. If there are no further restrictions to apply to his skills then this show is essentially in the bag. First point of order, make a skill that neutralizes headaches. Whammo, unlimited use of one ridiculous power. Second, make a skill to copy items/money. Now you're set for life with unlimited LP to make any other broken skill you want and never be poor again.
Like his problem is being a borderline sexless idiot. His teacher was pretty clear on how she grinds HP and the best he can do is get hugs.
This is screaming for a Kazuma

It feels kinda bad to use someone as a resource battery but I'm sure the creators of this show don't really care about that.
Spider anime was okay, gonna need more episodes in the tank to get a better opinion of it.
I'm not subbed to Funimation so I'll be a week behind on all of the show's on that platform.
Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist. About a "doctor" that goes around and cures people with strange or supernatural afflictions. The first patient cries condiments. Fine I guess? Looks like it'll be more of a show about... I dunno... self reflection and understanding/improvement? Don't know if I'll care too much about this one.

Ex-Arm. Crunchyroll original. Holy shit, this show is so badly animated that if you told me it was created in the early 2000's I'd believe you. This is like... early RWBY levels of janky animation. The thumbnail for the show is the best looking part by a country mile.
That's all I have to say about it because it was literally all I could focus on.

The episode is a lot better than the manga. Having the soundtrack to underscore everything while Eren monotonously talks with Reiner and threatens him and his people
So good

My wife and I were talking about anime, and I mentioned Kill la Kill and she didn't recognize it just from the title, so I called it "that naked antifa anime" and she instantly knew which one it was.
