I didn't know a thing about that particular bit of webcomic drama until now, though I vaguely recall a story about a kickstarter burning their product.
You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
These Outer Wilds strips are reminding me that the cryo-suit you wake up in is the best looking armor in the entire game.
Worlds. How can you get sci-fi games released about the same time with similar names and premises about exploring a weird solar system mixed up like that?

I had a whole post written up but lost it and it's too tedious to copy out all the tweets and summaries of the people involved on mobile all over again.
To sum up: the actor has stated he was not aware, it is not an actor's job to check for plagiarism and he has condemned the plagiarism.
The directors have gone quiet.
The film website quoted in the tweet have deleted their article (or at least the linked article is hidden or moved).

Yeah that's also like, an ancient joke
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I have trouble understanding plagiarism, especially blatant plagiarism that gets caught and condemned.
Even if for some reason you can't make your own ideas, surely you're not so dull that you can't make stolen ideas your own?
I feel some plagiarism is accidental even in this age of instant info it still happens as there are places you don't normally go or dark pits no one should go to online

There has been this weird things with comics on the internet for a while, where someone steals the comic and removes attribution and posts it on their wall, and then gets all surprised that the artist doesn't like the "exposure." I'm thinking a similar sort of stupid-think went with these filmmakers; from their letter they assumed the guy would be excited to promote the film. They seemed to have convinced themselves that comic art is a lesser type of art than film so of course anyone would be flattered that their "trash" got turned into gold.
Now that I think about it, this scoffing at comics by other artists isn't new to the internet, I first learned of the existence of this mindset when I got into comics in the 90s. Comics are viewed as inherently childish.

Comics and animation in general. My parents are probably still convinced that anime are cartoons and cartoons are for children. They won't sit still long enough for me to convince them otherwise

Glue them to their chairs and put on Akira.
But seriously this is the same mindset that freaked out about Ren&Stimpy and South Park; how dare these people put swearing and violence in children’s entertainment that is only on after 10 pm and comes with a content warning?
They couldnt find it before today because the blog it was on is gone
They are dumbasses
They used the way back machine which should have the old comic right? I honestly don't know.
You have to know where it was actually at to use Wayback properly, an I have no idea where the blog was, and its possible it wasn't archived. Plus this is a joke I've seen/heard like 300 times before. Its not like its a new one.

Hell, my fuckin wife is like this and she's only 32. I get thinking anime is cringey because of embarrassing weebs, or just not liking the art style, or not understanding a lot of the common anime tropes, but thinking it's just for children because it's animated makes no sense (especially since she likes western cartoons like Family Guy, Futurama, etc., and doesn't think they're for kids for some reason?)
