I so hope we can also make it that he is the first one to be removed, but I'm less optimistic on that one because of his party's nature. I'm hoping Georgia can hustle things up and get both Warnock's and Ossoff's wins certified ASAP. Warnock's opponent conceding should kill any possible delays (not bothering with listing the name because I'm too lazy to look up the proper spelling right now). With luck maybe Perdue will decide it would be prudent to concede as well. If we had 50 democrats in the current congress, we'd only have to find 16 more republicans on board with removal. I say 16 because it's likely a given that Romney is going to be on board, he was the only one to voted to do so on one charge from the last rodeo and given how pissed he was yesterday, I'd be surprised if he wasn't on board.
He will only keep up conciliatory rhetoric so long as he has to. Once he is out (supposing no second coup attempt that succeeds) he will go right back to being their guy. The question is if:
A) mainstream media outlets will allow him to have a voice less mainstream outlets are significant enough to continue the grift.
If those don’t happen they may; wondering where dear leader is now that he isn’t bound by being in the White House. Why isn’t he in the streets like us trying to take it back?!?!?!?!
But otherwise I doubt it. Two weeks isn’t enough time unless they get thrown under the bus hard.
What made him do that video? I get that editing prevented him from going off script or rather they just edited out the off script parts. But what made him do it in the first place? I have a real hard time imagining anybody or anything getting through to him to that extent.

I really want to know McConnell's political calculus right now.
Somehow I get the feeling he might be amenable to impeachment this time.
I get his recent heel turn to democracy was performative, but it has to be shocking when an armed mob shows up to your job site specifically to kill you, their ostensible ally.

My feeling that we were a lot closer to having the 25th amendment invoked than was reported. The Georgia call last week (feels like a month ago) indicates that Trump had no real plan going into Jan 6th and everything comes down to his ego. Better, in his mind, to play nice for two weeks than to get removed from power like an invalid.
I'm guessing they flat out told him the 25th is on the table if he doesn't stfu right now. Not saying they would have actually backed up that threat, but Trump is a coward.

McConnell's lost control of his caucus, even if he's okay with impeachment there ain't enough GOP senators who'll fall on their swords to help him.
He doesn't want to be a loser, it's really that simple. He's denying that he lost the lection because he's not a loser, only those other people are losers.
Now he's suddenly realising that he can be a bigger loser, and he's making it increasingly more likely.
His self-preservation instincts are fighting his ego, and they're losing.

Well for removal and that's what it would be because impeachment is a separate thing that only the house can do and if the vote is to remove, then impeachment has already happened.
There are three variable right now and they are all related to how many senators we have when the removal vote is up.
-We still have the current setup of 51 R- 48 D. This IMO is the worst setup because we need 19 republicans.
-With Warnock's opponent conceding, he gets seated ASAP would would put us at 50 R - 49 D, slightly better in some ways because we'd only need 18 republicans.
-If Perdue decides to fuck off instead of fucking around, it's possible we get a 50/50 split when removal vote comes up if GA acts fast. We'd need only 17 republicans, this is ideal and we likely already have Romney on board.
I'm not sure this is an insurmountable number. Yes, six senators decided to be absolute rat fuckers, but there is no filibuster. We just need 17-19 republican to be on board, that isn't even half their caucus. Again, worth keeping in mind that a pro-Trump mob showed up with designs of killing those that were deemed traitors, including republicans that didn't want to play Trump's game. So we have a new calculus where Trump's people showed up to kill republican senators, that likely changes some people's tunes on removal. These were either people that had no interest in courting the psychopaths that have anointed Trump as their king (this include Romney and Murkowski) and those that are likely realizing they are never getting those votes. AKA Trump's ass is cooked if enough republicans conclude that those votes are either lost to them or that they don't fucking want them because those are the only voters that will hold removal votes against them. If you don't want those voters or believe you'll never get them, then you more of less give no shits about making votes they don't like.
I really want to know McConnell's political calculus right now.

I don't know that he's lost complete control. The Senate shut down the debate about the certification pretty fast afterall.
But I also think any real chance at impeachment+removal passed when it didn't happen before everyone went to bed.
I think there's a very real chance it could have gotten through the Senate while all of the senators were still reeling from what happened.
I suspect now it's far too late because they've had long enough to remember reelection.

I think it depends on the circumstances for both but afaik yeah the military penalties can be very severe.
Police penalties? Probably not much unfortunately.
Definitely for the military. Any active duty or reserve that took part in this, that get caught will be luck with just getting discharged and jail time. I'm pretty sure the death penalty is on the table.
Harder to say for the cops because we see a bunch of pigs from their ranks being A-OK with this bullshit and even if the top brass isn't, well there is the whole issue of PDs covering for their shit stains so they never see punishment. On the other hand, this shit show got a cop killed by Trump's people and many others were injured, so it's possible these shit stains get bounced hard. I fully expect this is going to lead to some police reforms because some of these fuckers were cops that decided not only are the above the law, but they decide who the leaders are and this came at the expense of Congress's safety. So there are going to be many congress critters and even state legislative critters gunning to kill that attitude right quick because they'll have zero fucking interest in allowing PDs to be staffed and run by fuckers that feel they can run elected people out of office on a whim.
I've been reading about whether or not grassroots recall efforts can actually be tenable for the most egregious of these seditionists and sadly, it seems like not all states are able to recall senators like Missouri and Texas (Hawley and Cruz) which I would imagine there may be a shot at if their states actually allowed it which it does not
ugh
We almost turned Texas this year and everyone hates Cruz and Hawley's seat was most recently occupied by a democrat so these are not so far fetched like trying to recall McConnell in Kentucky or some shit

So I might have missed this in the rocket thread yesterday, but how many of the cabinet are needed for 25?
Chao and DeVos are resigning, but so they count towards a total? Or is the total movable beef on just how many secretaries there are?
Like, if the requirements are 2/3 of the cabinet, but the only remaining cabinet members are Carson, Perry, and Mnuchin, then can Mnuchin and Perry sign the letter?
Though I'm curious how many of these fuckers that do hold a political office, can be charged and convicted for something severe enough that they have to be removed from whatever office they hold.
Didn't see it in the last thread but LegalEagle did a very good video on what this shit shouldn't be tolerated.
Also worth noting, this was someone that would likely normally never do videos like this. This is why I say the traitor terrorists didn't get a win because what they did do, was piss off whole fuck ton of people that either try to avoid being partisan or to wade into politics altogether. This is going to bring in a few more people that tried staying out of politics, that want these fuckers gone and it's making a ton of people in the "let's play bipartisan camp" take the position of "get these fuckers out!"
Here's the thread to talk about 2021 coups. Coups around the world so far:
Country: United States of America
Coupee: Donald Trump
Coup Style: Self-coup
Current Coup Status: Unsuccessful
Please talk about 2021 coups only, thank you for your cooperation.

The right hates facing consequences for things it does or tries to do, because they know even failed attempts at pushing through desired policies or changes serve as a beachhead for another attempt or shifting of the Overton window. This is why they are all going "Waaaaah you're just as bad if you want airlines to ban the terrorists" or "Waaah stop talking about limiting anti-left/election disputing content on the web". They want a permanent war against everything that is Not Them and more importantly they want it to be normalized.

No idea and also how many of the cabinet were never truly appointed in the first place?
Oh hai, stumbled onto the rules for expelling a member from the VA senate without looking for it. It's 2/3rd, currently the state senate split is 21 D to 18 R with a vacancy from a republican dying to covid. So we'd only need six republicans to vote to bounce Amanda Chase's ass out. Again, she isn't well liked within her own party. She isn't in a leadership position and given that she has made noise about wanting to run for governor, some of her opponents with the republican state senate caucus might vote her out simply to weaken her ability to whine about the GOP convention for their governor candidate likely being rigged in Kirk Cox's favor. Also can refer her sorry ass to the AG. IMO do both. Not sure when the session starts, but I want to say it'll be soon.
Trump backs down - on transition, on prosecuting MAGA rioters, on links to far right. Why? Because a felony was committed somewhere in the chain of command that led to the security failures at Capitol, and it will be traceable 1/ And everyone is resigning...
2/ Politically - in terms of mainstream politics - this is now a damage limitation exercise for the Trump family and the inner circle. He can pardon himself but not them. In terms of mass politics however...
3/ As I pointed out yesterday, fascists need Sorelian myths: the Storm/Kraken was a Sorelian myth and it fell apart between the SCOTUS judgement and 6 January... now they need a new Sorelian myth...
4/ Sorel said a myth in politics is not a fantasy: it's an immanent story of how the world works. "Trump will arrest the libs and unleash a coup" - was such a myth. Now there are two ways it will go... a) he was captured b) we were betrayed...
5/ From now on the far right narrative in the USA will focus on storming buildings, only with larger numbers. Georgia shows, even with gerrymandered districts, the demographic tide is turning... hence blackpill narratives rising after 6 Jan...
6/ The non-deluded far right of the GOP realise they have to regain some kind of constitutional solid ground to re-form the coalition, and that a third, Trumpist party is in the making...
7/ Trump is right now trying to avoid a **long** jail term for treason/sedition, hence the humble pie. He will repudiate it, saying he was forced into it, as soon as he is out of danger... but here's where the next phase opens up...
8/ European govts were seriously having to consider if this was a coup attempt, not a charade. They won't stop asking that now it's over. Even if US intel won't investigate properly, foreign agencies will, because they are currently sharing secrets with a traitor...
9/ The salient questions are: did the Proud Boys leader order the march (there's evidence on camera); and who did he talk to before he gave the order; and who designed the DC policing plan/countermanded NG deployment?
10/10 Never forget, while we in the press try to find this stuff out, several security agencies are likely to know the complete answer, not all of them in the USA.
11/ Finally, a Trumpist 3rd Party will be the American fascist party, just as the ex-Freikorps elites grafted their networks onto Hitler's DAP/NSDAP once demobilised, and brought their money/elite networks and newspapers... that's the parallel.
Though I'm curious how many of these fuckers that do hold a political office, can be charged and convicted for something severe enough that they have to be removed from whatever office they hold.

Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!
Watching the GOP go into damage control mode after the adrenaline wore off and they stopped fearing their monster might kill them sure is something.
I wonder when the dust settles how many who were outraged at first will maintain their convictions that this was wrong and how many will blame antifa false flags.
Actually, scratch that about convictions. I wonder how many of the psychopaths will decide it's in their best interest to turn on Trump vs supporting him.

This is how The American Dream is presented; everything you desire isn't only possible, you deserve it. You have a god-given right to everything you want, but The Evil Other wants to keep it from you. Fortunately, the Founders saw this eventuality happening, which is why you're allowed a gun. QED.
