I can just imagine the captain on the ship looking at the blockage pointing to Africa and just saying "just go around I'll fix it go around!"

It's aground now, possibly at both the bow and stern, so it sortakinda has.

I think it only draws a couple feet less than the canal's whole depth anyway - if it was completely on the ground across its entire length we wouldn't really see a difference.

I saw something where they said the dick was just a sad coincidence and I’m like, no way in hell that is a coincidence right?

Apparently it was probably just random drift while anchored, and it would have been incredibly difficult to maneuver a ship that size into patterns that small under power.

A captain who could do that wouldn't have driven into the fucking shore.

My dad, who was a captain of fishing ships for the better part of 45 years, said getting a ship that big stuck the way it is would almost certainly have to be intentional or some massive systems fuckup, but more likely the former.

Well my Dad who did 5 years in the Canadian Navy said it probably lost power because that happened to him a few times at sea and he didn't laugh at the ship dick pic which was quite frankly very out of character, but I did show it to him immediately after waking him up, so

Aw yeah I was too big for sues canal baby

Whoops I dropped my magnum ship and it’s stuck it’s bulbous bow in the shore

Seriously though any ship sexualiser worth their salt knows that the bulbous bow is the least erotic part of a ship, it’s purely functional

A like, entire shipment of some Dragonball Z cardset was on a shipwreck. So there are, presumably, shipping containers full of Gokus at the bottom of the Pacific.

I took a day trip over to see the pyramids, traveling from Port Said to Giza by bus

It's pretty flat, so as you travel down the highway, you can look across to where the canal is and, while you can't see the canal itself, you can see these enormous container ships towering above the horizon apparently in the middle of the desert

    The general effect is unsettling

Also big ships are big, in a way that's hard to comprehend from images alone

Fun facts about the Suez Canal:

More than 1.5 million people worked to build it between 1859 and 1869, much of them forced labor!

Historians estimate about 120,000 workers died during construction!

The man who managed the project, Ferdinand de Lesseps, later was put in charge of a project to dig a canal through the isthmus of Panama, but that project was abandoned after six years of work and 20,000 deaths without any significant progress!
