Every time i tune in to the Mariners they’re losing and unable to get hits and yet they’re still at the top of the division because the AL West is dogshit this year

The Rangers have something like 10 pitchers on the DL including (I think) our entire starting rotation from the beginning of the year.
We also paid Scherzer $43 Milly and so far he's pitched about 3 innings in between injuries

Acuna was leading off second, took a step away, pitcher turned to throw, and when he tried to hop back to base he kind of spun and it looked his knee forgot to spin with him and he collapsed in a lot of pain.
"BREAKING: Negro Leagues statistics will officially be integrated into MLB database on Wednesday. Negro Leagues legend Josh Gibson will become MLB record holder in multiple categories. "
Fucking A
There is going to be some epic salt over this whooo buddy.
Edit: "Negro Leagues legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Josh Gibson will become MLB’s single-season record holder in batting average (.466 in 1943), slugging percentage (.974 in 1937) and OPS (1.474 in 1937). Gibson, who played for the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Homestead Grays, also becomes MLB’s career leader in all three categories."

Quick, someone hook Ty Cobb up to a generator before this goes in the books!

I hope the reaction to the salt is to relentlessly dunk on Babe Ruth, or at least make sure ALL the qualifications are mentioned when bringing up his relative performance
“Yes, guy who “doesn’t see color” who is irrationally worked up over this, take just one more step in your argument about how Josh Gibson’s numbers shouldn’t count, go on”

God knows the numbers Gibson could've put up, even if he never got an MLB call up. He died at 35 and was limited his last couple of years due to the headaches from his brain tumor.
The guy had forearms about the size of some modern players' thighs and an eye for the zone on par with Ty Cobb and Ted Williams. He was Bonds without the Clear.

So much of MLB feeling/being compelled to do this is due to the tireless work of Buck O'Neil keeping the pride and history of the Negro Leagues alive over 40+ years of interviews and speaking engagements he did after his coaching career in MLB finished in the early 70s. Along with Ken Burns getting introduced to him and then recording over 150+ hours of picking his brain and telling stories for the Baseball series on PBS.
The fact he always remained upbeat and happy to share anything and everything he knew and saw, rather than getting spiteful and vindictive over guys like him getting snubbed by Cooperstown till the late 90's qualifies him for sainthood, IMO.
I had the great fortune to sit near and chat with him a couple dozen times seeing games at Kauffman Stadium in the 90s though 2001, when I left for college. He still did a little scouting for the Royals then (the K still has a "Buck O'Neil Legacy seat") and he had a permanent lock on one when watching home games (section 127, directly behind homeplate, row C, seat 9. Only red seat in the house, in an ocean of blue). That man radiated good vibes that could be felt from 20 feet away and may still be the overall happiest man I've met in my life.
While we have a lot of fantastic cultural treasures you can visit if you're in the area, if you are at all interested in the history of baseball I compell, nay, demand you visit the Negro Leagues Museum down in the jazz district. Buck's legacy lives on in spades there, as over half of the expository info dumps at the various exhibits are ones he recorded before his death back in 2006.
NP. Since watching Burns' magnum opus as a teenager, I've become a baseball history junkie, Having Buck and the apparatus that got the Negro Leagues Museum built here, has granted me a golden opportunity for 20 plus years to hear, read and absorb everything I can, taking advantage of living in one of the 2 biggest ground zeros (Pittsburg would be no. 2 with the Crawfords and Homestead Grays being the Boston Red Sox or Brooklyn Dodgers analogs to the KC Monarchs Yankees) for Negro League/Barnstorming history.

Satchel Paige was awesome
One of his favorite moves was to call in his outfielders and then singlehandedly strike out the other side. According to Paige, an even more famous stunt came during a Negro League World Series game in 1942, when he intentionally walked two batters so that he could face power hitter Josh Gibson with the bases loaded. After taunting Gibson and warning him about where he intended to place each throw, Paige struck him out in three pitches.

Pretty sure the new Yankees stadium had a controversy after it opened about how there was a wind tunnel effect that they could adjust by opening and closing certain doors in the concourses

new yankees stadium was just like, bunt homerun level territory for a bit. i hadn't heard about that specific theory but i do know it was crazy easy for everyone to hit balls to certain areas in that park until they messed with it.
Must explain the Golden State Warriors a year ago then (33-8 at home, 11-30 on the road). Must have had remote control to move the basket when teams shot the ball.

The Phillies are my second favorite team, so I'm happy for them
But there is a huge gap between my Pirates fandom (which is almost certainly some form of masochism) and my Phillies fandom
Is fandom the right word there?

The win, 11-5, so yeah, good thing they had a buffer
Seriously what is with their relievers/closers
They're giving horrible person Aroldis Chapman a lot of money and he's hella washed up, they're going to be stuck with that bastard
And then the Rockies eventually ended up walking them off.
