i see a lot of old names i recognize and thats cool, even if we weren't like super pals or anything
you know how when a show goes on for like way too long and you watch a later season of it and think back on the earlier seasons and you're like, "wait, who the fuck are these people? this shit feels fake." like half the original cast is gone and its all new people and the old people are all doing stupid stuff. like buffy is fucking spike and xander married a demon or whatever. like what is this shit? wheres angel. this show lost its identity and its just in late era "we're making shit up now idk" mode, like its not even canon
i feel like life is like that a lot of the time. many people have entered and left my life and now that i am pushing 40 it's harder for me to feel like new additions to my life are like.... canonical Fallout's Life cast members. part of this is because i have a very bad memory, but like how is someone i meet in 2023 supposed to be as important as someone i was talking to when you could still reasonably claim that a 9/11 joke was "too soon" ?? idk
but SE++ is firmly in my canon, filled with important times and places and people. one day i hope that i learn to feel like a new person in my life is as important as seeing callius's giant dick. i still remember when he told me not to use duct tape during sex. or when he told someone else and i was lurking because i didnt know how to talk to people

I definitely browsed some old version of the forums that was on v-bulletin I think in high school, and was viciously bullied for asking about half life mods in whatever social entropy was called back then, instead of in the games and technology area.

Coming up on spending half my life posting here, although I've noticed my engagement and interest slowly drifting away.

I drift in and out of here a lot of the time. Usually it'll be big political or social events going off that I want to read some thoughts and analyses about while they're going on, and then I stay around for wrestling and [chat] and the occasional video game or tech thing. These forums have been the most consistent community and resource in my life for a long long time.
Aside from one PAX, I never did meet up with anyone IRL. Although I used to do the holiday gift exchanges, which is how I got into the God of War games and Zapp's chips!

I am writing up a big thing for this years Holiday Forum, but being a kid in the early 2000's who was online right when the internet became a thing, I very easily could have floated into weird Usenet sites or early 4chan and become a much much worse person than I am today. Instead I went to a place where I was mocked constantly and it pushed me to try and be better. Misguided in the directions and reason? Sure, but still made me a better person overall.
