Mass Effect: The monkey doesn't have the fucking module!
I didn't have a problem with the Mako. I had a problem with the planets you have to drive it on. Every single one, aside from main mission planets, are basically just mountains - jaggy, steep mountains. It's a pain to traverse these landscapes, especially if you try to explore everything showing up on the map. Funny thing, though, I totally forgot about using the boost on it to evade missile fire until several hours after being able to explore these planets. That definitely helped.
Silpheed: no, you can't edit the default Shepard model. They didn't make him using the tools, after all. They scanned an actor's face and applied it. I wish you could, because I'd love to give him a huge scar for Renegade playthroughs.
Anyways, does First Aid stack or not? Some people have said yes, others no.

It's not really story related (I think) but spoiler'd all the same:
I have to save some guy on a ship. I go in, find some guys and have 3 minutes to kill them/save the hostage. Problem is they kill me in about.. oh.. 20 seconds. All of them just fucking crowd me all at once and start hitting me with some blue who-knows-what that keeps everyone on the ground until I die. What the shit.
Well, the guys on that ship are all biotic specialists. So you need to hit them hard with your own biotics. Straight firepower is tough against them. I brought Wrex and Liara with me, plus I'm an Infiltrator so I also have some biotic abilities of my own. We kept hitting them with lift, throw, and dampening. Then I'd shoot them with either anti-personnel or radioactive ammo.
Can you train up more weapons as you go along? I currently seem to be only trained in Pistols and Snipers as an Infiltrator. Can you buy training skills or something to learn other weapons?
I used one of the prefab faces, the one with the scar going down the eye. It doesn't look as good as the default, but it looks a hell of a lot better than what I first made with the tools. Weird thing is, I think it matches the voice a lot more than the default face.

God, it's 2am and I just stopped playing. Barely out of the Citadel.
Getting stomped by the biotic guys on the spaceship, with the hostage. I clearly underestimated the amount of Wrex needed.
Also, probably answered elsewhere, but: is the highest skill in your current party used for things like decryption, or do you have to specify it somehow? There's a probe I've found that says I need higher electronics to access.
"Stunned surprise. I didn't know that your Asari companion could do that with a ping-pong ball."
I was watching my roommate play this earlier. He's a Vanguard with a shotgun and he goes around blowing large holes in stuff while protected by Barrier and other skills. He'd have some difficulty with a few areas, but it's nothing too severe. However, I'd hop into the same areas with my Infiltrator and basically get fucked in the ass. I'm so used to going about doing things in a similar way that it never occurs to me that I'll need to actually stay back and support my team with powers while sniping face from afar.
I mean, even in Oblivion, I could take my usual melee character and go in there, mace-a-swingin', and sweep the place up, just like my roomie did an hour earlier with his Paladin-esque hybrid. The only differences were me casting a fireball or two and not giving two shits about defense as opposed to healing myself and buffing my armor like he did. I was somewhat skeptical about having a comparatively smaller amount of careers to choose from, but it really tends to effect how two characters can approach identical situations, at least during this stage of the game.
Oh, and Tali? I'd totally romance her. Y'know. In the butt.
Sooooo, I'm sure this has already been spoken of, but
I finished the Asari Consort's mission, and she gave me her "prophecy." Expecting some monetary compensation, I selected "That's it?" in the dialog tree, and next thing I know, I'm naked and we're bumping pelvises. If I had known it was coming, I probably would not have selected that option, it really stunned me. So I guess this is the sex scene everyone has been in a tizzy about?

So I woke up this morning to this update on my UPS mass effect fiasco. I have no friggin idea what it means... I swear to god I must have killed kittens in another life to be put through this bullshit. Making it a spoiler so as to not take up space.

If anybody has any insight on what I should do at this point please feel free to offer suggestions. I would think a shipping refund would be in order. I understand that it's the holidays and whatnot being a busy time of year for UPS. However I paid for overnight delivery to receive this past Tuesday. It will be Friday before I get it if I get it at all.

This thread is now brought to you by Wrex's super incredibly badass Berserker armor.
Seriously. Holy shit.
He looks like an overweight Eldar Guardian.
Oh crap, where do you get armor like THAT?
His hate for you is like a truck.
I'm finding this game's learning curve to be relatively reasonable. Should I be concerned? I do have questions though:
How do you see how many Medi-Gels you have? In the bottom left, it looks like it has to recharge after use like any ability, but sometimes I see Medi-Gel +1 from killing baddies.
I cant figure out how to cast Barrier on other characters. (I'm a pistol packin' Adept and loving it.) Is this possible? If not, when do you start getting party buffs?

Hmmm I totally missed that. I did not answer that and got a different ending to that quest
I played it like a good boy and she gave me some kind of artifact/pendant instead. I'm ashame to say I didn't when through my inventory to take a closer look at it.
Speaking of your little night with her, did that unlock an anchievement? I know there is one about romance, this is hardly romance but was wondering if you got an anchievement or not.
On another subject, I too ended up with the default Shepard Model. He looks so much better than all the custom ones we can do. People kept raving in previews about what they could do with this system... well none of the characters I've tried to do looked good.
Too bad also that you can modify the default shepard model, i would have made a few modifications (eyes, hair, etc).
I really love the intro in this game. The music, the presentation... it's fantastic. I especially like the "Civilizations of the galaxy call it... MASS EFFECT" bit. Someone's been watching a lot of Top Gun.
I was trying to describe this game to a friend of mine, though; convice him to buy it. I was having a hard time describing it, as he never played the KOTOR games. Best I could come up with was that it was just a really well executed mish-mash of every sci-fi universe out there. Or, alternatively, a military-themed version of Star Wars without Jedi and guns that feel like, well, guns, instead of Star Wars' pissant little "pew pew pew" blasters. God. Fuck those things and the sound engineer behind them.

Hold that thought while I fetch a pen and paper. This divine insight must be cataloged and saved for future generations.
Whining aside, I love the game so far. Some things could have used a little polish, but overall it's been a great experience
You must be new to Bioware games. And the Mako is awesome.

But at least we're not fatasses.
It's only on the 360.
Someone tell me it's coming to PC. It's OK if you're lying. It will still make me feel better.
I love you.
PS3 will get it soon as well.

Bahaha, oh I'm so cruel.

"Chastising rebuke, Din."
That's probably even sadder than the fact that it doesn't happen, though.
"Overwhelming pleasure. Attach the brush modifcation to the vacuum and move the hose lower, Din."
"Shock. I didn't know you were standing there, Commander. Please excuse my rudeness."
"Ahh, I just shot some energy shit, now I got to try to gain my balance and shoot"
That sorta thing, I guess.

I'm gonna have to save the sidequests for the next playthrough
If I'm gonna die 5 times in a row it might as well be for something story related
alternatively, turn it back down to normal, and save veteran for your new game+ playthrough
and I'm not frustrated
I just, you know, want to beat the game sometime soon
i was afraid you were all, 'waaa this game is hard' instead of all, 'man, this is a challenge but i will overcome'
i really like that none of the fights ever seemed unfair
any time i died it was because i made a stupid mistake
