I just finished filling out my unemployment form.

You see, my position was "eliminated" at my now former place of employment. I had been working there for a solid 3+ years and pretty much built up my area into a stable rock of manufacturing efficiency. However, it seems I was too good and was no longer necessary to the process. Man, I haven't been without a job for like, 10 years.

Has anyone else here been the victim of a "streamlining" or "efficiency" plan?

Ever been flat out fired for fucking up royally?

Have you ever just quit?

Gather 'round and enlighten me with tales of survival and new beginnings!

    Yeah, I've been laid off and I've had my position eliminated. Never been fired, though.

    i had to quit my last job (oh, about 4 years ago) due to lack of transportation
    see, my friend (who also worked there) had been picking me up every day on his way to work. one day, i decided i was sick of him always badmouthing everyone he knew behind their backs, so i called him out on it. his response to this was kicking me out of the car 4 miles from home and refusing to pick me up ever again.
    i called work the next day to have them mail me my last check and apologized for having to quit on such short notice.

    i got an email from him about 2 months later apologizing for being an ass, which i promptly ignored.
    it seems he realized that the only reason any of his "friends" put up with him is because i always defended him. once i was out of the picture, they ditched him.
    that was a pretty good day for me.

    I got fired by the National Park Service every September for five years running.

    Course they hired me back every May, but it's still funny to see termination notices arrive in the mail every fall.

    I'm not unemployed yet. Though come May, I'll be out of school and out of my university job. Which means February, March, and April are dedicated to finding a job so I won't go broke after school ends. Otherwise, it's 'hello mom and dad!'

    I don't really quit jobs. I worked at a bar/restaurant for 7 years, quit during the summer when they tried to screw me, then went back when they begged me. Probably keep working there till I graduate.

    EDIT: Well that's not exactly true. I've had various second/summer jobs that I've phased in and out of. Lesser gigs, like working at Gamestop for a while, and I usually do summers at a landscaping company
