As much as it kills me, I really don't like Whedon on Runaways. Honestly I'm pretty happy that it ends in the next issue. The whole thing just felt wrong to me.

Agreed. He has moments and breif flashes of what BKV was channeling, typically in scenes focused on Molly, but on the whole, I find myself just not caring about the title that much anymore, which is odd, sicne I love his work on Astonishing.
As good as Iron Fist was, the other Iron gets my best book and moment for this week. Ya, Iron Man vs Mandarin was the definition of epic. The Knaufs focus a lot on the pyschological aspect of Tony, but this issue proves they know how to deliver on the action when it's called for. God damn, it's been a while since a fight like this actually delivered. Here's one of hte splash pages from the fight.
Do they explain why the hells a god would shower Harley with favor?
"This feisty one...called Harley Quinn amuses Thalia and these mortals have not yet completed their trials..
"The foul New God who imprisoned us yet lives"
"Though you have faired well thus far, no mortal flesh can stand against a new god and survive. We grant you power with which to combat our enemies and see them punished for their transgression!"
The Trials of Shazam have shown us that the gods which empower the Marvel family are the "Gods of Magic", and are explicitly not the same actual beings as those which are worshiped as the Roman pantheon (i.e. the ones trapped by Granny). These freed Roman gods appear to recognize Mary as their champion, and explicitly refer to these being her "trials" (i.e. parallel to the trials going on over in Trials of Shazam), and Mary recognizes them as her patron.
So, does this mean now that somehow the imprisoned gods ARE the same entities as the obviously NOT imprisoned gods in Trials of Shazam? Or is Mary now empowered by an entirely different pantheon than any of the other Marvel Family?
Iron Man was great today. A good pay off with the Mandarin fight, nice cliff hanger (like he's really dead) and generally a good book. KVW, that splash page was awesome.
I also liked the 3 splash pages they had in MA as well.

Sp basically, Countdown just fucked over the whole Marvel Mythos, and the Olympians even more?
Sp basically, Countdown just fucked over the whole Marvel Mythos, and the Olympians even more?
What? No.
Trials of Shazam was supposed to end last August. The gods weren't imprisoned until Amazons Attack #6, which came out in August.
Nothing is fucked up, except the scheduling of ToS.
We're more or less back to status quo now.
Except for the whole "Oh hey, let's empower the deranged murderess! TeeHee!" I'll be honest, I don't give much of a damn about ToS, and am sympathetic to Mary anyway, but the idea that they would give anything to Harley, much less find her funny, basically means they're amused by the Joker. Which means they're villains.
So uh
Invincible
Looks like it served as a way for him to pimp his other books, while still telling a decent story.
Not as good as I was hoping, and definitely not as good as Angel.

Well Thalia is the Muse of Comedy, obviously she has an advanced sense of humor.
Besides, you're assuming this is some permanent change in the characters.

Harley hasn't really ever done anything bad (outright murder or whatever). She's aided and abetted the Joker I suppose, but she hasn't really been with him all that much in comics. In DCU, ya, she's sidekick every other episode. In comics, they have like one adventure, he tries to kill her and she's been basically a solo act most of the time since (or odd team ups with Ivy or whatever).
She's even been pardoned and is technically a reformed criminal at this point. Although a bit insane still I suppose.
In honesty, Mary should be the one in question. She's killed dozens of people throughout Countdown. Turned guards to stone, made prisoners age uncontrollably til they died, made poachers shrink small enough so tigers and lions can hunt them and so on. She wasn't under anyone's influence and no mind control. She killed the guards the minute she met Eclipso. I don't really care about her, but why does she deserve her powers back exactly? Because she's learned her lesson? She's a murderer if you ask me.

Though apparently sane enough for Bruce Wayne to help her get parolled.

I noticed her logo was silver when it should be gold.....so different patrons?
DC is really hurting in the art department in general right now.
Countdown has proven as much.
On the bright side, isn't Bagely going to be doing some DC work? He's consistent and while not my favorite artist (although he is good), he is definitely a lot better then some of the people they've had drawing their books lately.

And, btw, the end of Iron Fist was my MotW.

Invincible actually coming out gets an honorable mention, at least until I read Angel.

Batman and the Outsiders was pretty good, the preview for Titans Together made it look like it was going to be decent.

How great are Lopez, Bit, and Martinez? Especially when you flip to the back and see Ian Churchills crud.
Seriously though, what a team.

Thanks a lot...dicks!

The issue itself wasn't that great
but the ending to Mighty Avengers was fucking cool
They're the Greek gods.
Have you ever read any Greek mythology? They're the biggest dicks ever. They're all selfish and start trouble with everyone
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar

He's doing the Trinity weekly with Busiek.
Superman getting high as a kite in Superman/Batman.
Hurting is a stretch. With the exception of a few ongoing titles (mainly JLofA) things look pretty good.
Don't make me list.
