I think he just meant PC Vs. Console in general, not games in specific...although I could be wrong.

    Get Boom Blox! :D

edit: How does the hard drive thing work. If I bring my hard drive with me, which has Geometry Wars 2 on it, can we play it on one of those machines? Competitive Kings is fun...and tofu needs the practice :D

If you bring your Hard Drive, you just plug it on top of a 360 console and your whole profile and saved games are there. I definitely recommend it, especially if you have Geometry Wars 2. This night is named after Angrytofu, we have to do our best to train him! :p

Also, I'll try to pick up a copy of Boom Blox at Rogers before I go.

On that note, if anyone needs to contact me today, please shoot me a PM and I'll give you my number. I'll have access to a computer until about 6pm. If you're the kind of person that worries the bus may break down, you can't find the stop, whathaveyou, this may be a good idea. (I know, I'm that kind of person! ^.^)

And I think I now have our reservation confirmed for Hons on Robson.

If anyone speaks Mandarin and would like to call back and double check that would be great. o_O

Anyway... we should have a table for 20 waiting for us at 6:00pm this Wednesday.

Which reminds me, if anyone is still hanging out with other PAXers at midnight remember to cheer. As of midnight we can officially start saying that PAX starts this Friday.

    .....

And yes get Boom Blox... if anyone tries to rent the game before you can grab it beat them with a Wiimote... or a PS3, which ever is more handy.

Yeah I guess that'd work too...

Sadly its not as much fun as the image of ACC3SS standing in the middle of Rogers Video swinging a PS3 over his head like a Bolas to scare off anyone who even glances at their copy of Boom Blox... but if it gets the game in hand for tonight I guess it will suffice.

I had a ton of fun tonight! It was great meeting you all. Too bad that Grifball didn't work out, but I really enjoyed Rock Band, Mario Kart, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I think Angrytofu had a good practice session, I have no doubt that he will take home the gold! :D

I am really looking forward to Wednesday now. Mmmmm... potstickers.....

PS. Delphinus, that was pretty impressive on RB! I know I couldn't pull that off. Oh, and getting killed by your pink alien was nothing short of embarrassing.

You should have just yelled at/beat up one of us on the Wii. People were generally good at switching up once we got Brawl going. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance on the Wii.

You were tired? I'd hate to see how bad you'd kick my ass at guitar hero when you are awake then. o_O

    Anyway...

It turned out to be a pretty good night. Great job ACC3SS. You'll have to plan another night like that sometime in the future. Most definately the weekend before PAX09 (might as well be like the CCST and start planning now for next year. lol)

I'm starting to think Moe can sense anytime someone evokes the name of the CCST in a post. lol.

Yeah, I do agree its something we can do more often than annually, but I was more making a point that it should be at the very least a yearly pre-pax thing. Well, until 2010 when there are two PAXs and it becomes a biannual event. lol.

Oh come on, its not far away. And the place is really awesome.

I live in downtown vancouver and it took me slightly less than an hour to get there on transit.

You mean Port Moody person right? I'm pretty sure ACC3SS was the only local.

Hauling a whole gaming lounge with him might be a little much for the poor guy to carry into town... they probably wouldn't let him onto transit schleping all that gear on his back... plus then we'd have to figure out where to put it. Yeah, it might just end up being too much of a hassle. lol.

But yeah if we all decide to abandon our anti-social ways and gather more frequently there's no reason we can't alternate between Port Moody @ Jimz and some of the fine establishments in Vancouver that have the Guitar Hero and Rock Band nights.

Or we can just crash Badlcuks place and have a Wii party. :winky:

As parabola noted Jimz has an awesome setup and not an insanely inconvenient location. Though perhaps, as most of us are from closer to downtown, doing an event at Jimz on a Saturday or Sunday night might be a better option, as there are no transit zones on the weekend (which means cheaper fares).

I think the only negative was from the fact that most of our group were more into trying the party type games in a group (lots of Wii stuff) and Jimz is more decked out for FPS LAN play, for you Halo and CoD types. A second big screen with a Wii (or a few extra wiimotes at the very least) would be great, but hey if that is the only thing we have to complain about... that shows how good the place is.

I can check on what bars/pubs currently have open RB/GH nights in the downtown area. If anyone knows of any let us all know. The only one I'm sure of is Yaletown Brewery but its only on certain Thursdays.

well, if we go to Jimz again, I'll bring my 4 wiimotes with me. My friend had my Wii for a couple weeks, so that's why I didn't bring them.

I think Darby's at 4th/Macdonald does RB nights as well, not sure though.

To be honest if we all get together for a RB/GH night at one of the bars in the city, I probably won't be getting up on stage myself. I think Badlcuk can attest to how ungodly awful I am at those games. lol.

It's simply more of a socializing with other geeks outside of PAX thing for me.

And yeah I also prefer Jimz for similar reasons, though I had more fun with MarioKart and TMNT than I did with Halo. Perhaps next time I'll bring my HDD with the Griffball maps already on it, and perhaps we can get some Griff Killing action going.... and definately more Wiimotes and Brawl. You can never have too much Brawl.

Anyway as far as our current plans:

We still have a few spots open in our reservations depending on if any of our tentative's actually show up. So people are still welcome to sign up if they are interetsed in coming to Hons and/or Wings. Depending on how long we are at Hons I imagine some of us may be hitting up the crappy urban arcade on Granville on our way to Wings.... or possibly partaking in drunken virtual driving on the racing games there after Wings.
