[WAR] Are you in the beta action, or are you some kinda sissy girl?

It won't be for long when you start playing and every Witch Hunter you see has their name as a variation of Van Helsing.
Currently DMing: None
Characters
[5e] Dural Melairkyn - AC 18 | HP 40 | Melee +5/1d8+3 | Spell +4/DC 12
*cough*
Van Helsing was an old doctor who knew some stuff about Vampires. Solomon Kane was rapier and pistol wielding puritan swordsman. GW probably didn't have the former in mind when they lifted Howard's imagery wholesale for WFB. I have no idea when Van Helsing suddenly got Kane's sword, guns, and hat. GW, though, has always excelled at finding old, less popular fantasy authors and "taking inspiration" from their work. Kind of like what Blizzard did with their art style.
:^:
The problems with MMOs in Europe is that not every country has an education system that priorities English as a secondary language. A lot of countries use voice-overs in English movies, so they're not exposed to English outside classrooms. There's usually a language barrier for a big part of the population, and it makes it painful in group situations.
I just randomly logged into to check my beta app and found that I'm in closed beta, HOORAY!

Ok, I'm putting this sumbitch in the OP.
The NDA is now doing more harm then good, because they haven't contributed anything to the discussion in months. Oh wait, yes they have. The last official statement they made was they were cutting 4 cities and 4 classes.. That is why people are hearing bad things, because the last official impression they left with the public was a large chunk of content was being cut.
The fact that the NDA has still been up this long gives the appearance that they're hiding something, whether that is really the case or not. Personally I think it's a bad idea that they kept it up this long just because the Auction house isn't in and there's some crashing and hardlocks. NDA should have been down once that bad news about the content cut was released.
Granted, they needed to wait till they got the combat responsiveness patch in a week or two ago, but that should have been the death of the NDA right there. The handling of the beta admission stuff doesn't help the perceptions either. It is -never- a good sign that people that were entitled to official info because they were admitted, can't get it because they capped the forum limit, so they go to Betaleaks to get official info.
Mythic themselves are at least partly to blame. Combine that with the fact that some of you come in here and keep going "Blah blah blah wish I could tell you but the NDA prevents me." constantly, and aren't even willing to tell people you meet in person miles away from a computer for fear that the Secret Mythic NDA police will find out isn't helping matters. By word of mouth you guys could be undoing some of Mythic's mistakes and changing the perception, but you'd rather play another month instead of risking it. Is it more important to give out some good publicity and maybe have to wait till launch to play again, or play now and watch this clearly good game get bad press from the ignorant and disgruntled, spreading bad info to the uninformed looking for more info?
Dakka is what the Orks describe the sound of their automatic weapons as, so basically it means making something more shooty. If I'm not mistaken anyway.
dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka dakka
repeat until it sounds something like an automatic weapon
Yup. Try screaming DAKA DAKA DAKA DAKA! while pretending you're shooting a huge gun.

I'd been looking forward to playing one since DoW
at least there's still the Black Orc
I personally got my pre-order from Best Buy. You're correct in that they have no clue what's going on, but thankfully the keys are packaged in a nice little box with some kinda playing cards, so I don't have to wait around for an e-mail or some shit to get them.
I've heard good things about Direct2Drive though, as well as Amazon. If you're planning on playing in the OB and Head Start, you're going to end up downloading the client anyways so waiting for Amazon to ship the game won't be much of a problem.
I was pretty sad to hear about the Choppa being cut as well. Even though I've never played WAR, they sounded like my kinda class.
I'm curious about this... did Mythic say what they are doing with the cut classes? Are they holding off and releasing them later, or did they pull a Funcom and fold the classes cut into other classes?
The character of Van Helsing does show up in dreams and flashbacks in the Hellsing (two "l"s) manga, he's not portrayed in the wide-brimmed hat rapier-wielding manner.
I too blame the Van Helsing movie with Hugh Jackman that features one "Gabriel Van Helsing," not Abraham Van Helsing.
As long as you know the OB code is stored in the download section of the media library instead of being emailed, which is something they don't tell you when you order.
They said that they would either be brought back in later or replaced by a class they could get to work if all else failed.
this is near the top of the page once you select WAR from a search
I'd be uneasy about pre-ordering online. Even if you get your beta code instantly, what about when the game launches? Even if you can continue using your beta client at launch - do you need a cd key or code included in your retail box to activate an account for launch play?
I wish Mythic was better at communication so this whole pre-order business wouldn't be such a mess with people wondering about betas, open betas, head starts, preview weekends, downloading the beta, etc
They have better been busy polishing the game during the time they have spent not giving closed beta invites, guild beta invites, and information on the pre-orders out.
Well, I think pre-orders have a head start, which means they (Mythic) will probably provide you with a downloadable client and a headstart keycode. You won't need to use your retail keycode untill a certain time after launch day. This allows time for people who ordered online to have their copy shipped and have them still be able to play. (At least this is how funcom did it, I'm sure Mythic will do something similar)

Mythic said something along those lines, yeah. I had a few folks in this thread quote where they discussed that CE purchasers would be playing, and would have a special process for claiming some of their in-game CE stuff once they had the physical copy in-hand to enter a cd-key.
if a server existed that started with an A and you played there, and also you were looking for a guild to roll with for beta
you can always talk to this shady dude i know, he has the same name as me but without the robo
