Kansas City's offense finally got going, even with Trent Lite (Huard). Looka dat defense, though. I'm liking what I'm seeing. Too bad we're 1-2 and the bye week is already gone.
After seeing the Giants get butt-raped by Seattle last week, I came away thinking that the nothing was going to stop the Seahawks offense. (Alexander's injury, notwithstanding.)
Boy, was I so very wrong. That Bears defense............*shivers in fear* Urlacher is one scary motherfucker.
How much of that was just the plain crappy day that Hasslebeck was having? But you could say he was having such a crappy day because of thoose near-sackings that lead to turnovers.

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.
Are we not doing cumulative pick 'em standings? I figured we would. I'll dig through the thread and do the math when I'm not at work, if nobody does it before I get home.

I'm going to do it, and update the front page with it. I just had to go to sleep, and didn't feel like doing it last night. :P

That was sick, but a 5 game suspension is way too much.
I heard reports on ESPN saying that his apology after the game was sincere enough to only get him 5 games.
He might have been looking at an entire season.
He should've been looking at missing the rest of the season. We're talking about a 300 lb. man with spikes on the bottom of his shoes stomping on a guy's head. If this happens outside of a football stadium he's looking at some serious jail time. Hell, if you ask me he should be looking at jail time anyway. There's no call for that kind of stupid bullshit.
On the positive side, it looks like I'm on the way to proving Mr. Easterbrook right in his assesment that experts aren't really all that smart when it comes to picking games. I go 10-4, and I've watched maybe two quarter's worth of NFL action so far this season, but I would've done the same just picking home teams.
Buffalo at Chicago
Cleveland at Carolina
Detroit at Minnesota - I'm almost tempted to pick the Lions, but why ruin a perfect season?
Miami at New England St. Louis at Green Bay
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
Tennessee at Indianapolis Washington at N.Y. Giants - Once again my anti-Manning bias is showing.
Kansas City at Arizona
N.Y. Jets at Jacksonville
Oakland at San Francisco

We're talking about a 300 lb. man with spikes on the bottom of his shoes stomping on a guy's head.
Bah, Ditka is right--this is a man's game...just rub some dirt on it and send him back out into the trenches.
I'm guessing you're being sarcastic, but I don't really view this as a situation we should be so glib about. That would be a fine attitude - if this occured as a natural part of the game. But there's a distinct line between what happens during a play, and what happens when a guy is laying on the ground after the whistle blew. This is the same thing as Marcus Vick stomping on Dumervil's leg last year, and Vick was widely reviled for his act, and was justifiably removed from his team, which few if anyone protested. Yet here Haynesworth does something just as bad, and arguably much worse, for he attacked a far more vulnerable part of the body, and I've seen at least one account of the incident claiming that Haynesworth kicked Gurode's helmet off before stomping on his head, and yet here we have people claiming that 5 games is too much for Haynesworth.

If we're talking about "real men," then Haynesworth should have enough macho pride to want to beat his opponent straight up instead of resorting to cheap shots and dirty play.
If anything Haynesworth's suspension is too short considering that Ricky Williams got a year for smoking weed.
And Ditka is overrated anyways. Buddy Ryan's defense could have won that Super Bowl with anyone coaching the rest of the team (with the possible exception of Mike Mularkey). There's a reason Da Bears carried Ryan off the field in 86 and not the Iron one. Ditka was exposed in New Orleans as the mediocre coach and subpar talent evaluator he is.

And yet, Buddy Ryan couldn't win shit as a head coach. But then Ditka never won without Ryan either. My guess is that the truth is more somewhere in between.

Buddy Ryan is a fucking nut job.
And I don't understand the Ditka love. He really fucked New Orleans with that boneheaded trading of a draft for Ricky.
My favorite Buddy Ryan moment: getting in a fist fight with Kevin Gillbride (Houston's offensive coordinator at the time) on national TV during a game. lol. classic.

Yeah, that cemented the he's a nutjob thing in my mind. I'm kind of surprised Gilbride still has a job in the NFL. Or he did last I checked anyway.

I like Peter King and all, but his scores for the weekend are total garbage. Like predicting an 18...that's a really unlikely score. Yes, I too read too much Easterbrook.

Tennessee was down 24-7 to Georgia, toward the end of the first half, and came back to win the game 51-33. It was the highest scoring Tennessee-Georgia game ever, and also awesome.

The overall records are now on the front page, and I'll keep updating them. Somebody should double-check me.
I'll double check later, but you crazy for picking Philly over Dallas. That Philly team is DUE for a goddamn letdown, and TO might play the best goddamn game of his career. If I know anything about TO, it's that he gets up for games like this*.

Bledsoe has to be left standing though. I'm not so sure that's going to happen.
