The Game and Watch Collections are pretty spiffy, and I'm amazed they actually went to the trouble to rebuild the original Game and Watch thing. Also I wish they'd bring back the Punch-Out add-on where you fight Doc Louis.
But yeah, the store could stand a little more variety. And soundtracks, dammit!
Yeah, this is really my only problem with the store. I don't give a shit about folders and bookmarks and carrying cases. I want *real* swag, like the Japan Club Nintendo gets. Soundtracks would be fantastic (and seriously, how expensive can that be for them to produce? I don't understand why they aren't doing this). More poster varieties. Figurines! (like last year's platinum reward). Also, where the hell is my SNES-style classic controller!!?!!??!
These are the things I picked up:
-Zelda posters
-Star Messanger Bag
-Mario Fan
That's it. That's all that has seemed worth getting to me (the Hanafuda cards are neat but kind of expensive coin-wise... and I've never really cared for Game & Watch otherwise those would have been good rewards)
Edit: The Kirby Patches are kind of neat too (though I probably won't get them).. I like things that are "different" like that though.
So, why do I have "Nintendo 3DS System -- 40 [coins]" on my coin history twice? One is from 6/6 and one is from 6/8.
I understand that one is for linking the eShop with my Club Nintendo account, but what is the other one?
Incredible luck?
Or did you de-link and re-link and discovered an exploit?
I don't remember if this actually happened, but the shop was spotty when it first came online, so maybe there was an error when I tried to link the first time, and it actually went through on the Club Nintendo side both times.
Edit: That wouldn't explain why they're two days apart, though. I never unlinked it. Must have just been an error on their side.

I got two of the white DS game cases. They're pretty nifty and well made.
I'm just wondering if 3DS cards would fit or not. Are they the same size as DS cards aside from the little projection to prevent them from being put in a DS?

I wasn't sure if I'd reach Platinum this year, but after E3 I was finally excited to buy the 3DS (and I happened to get the money for it) so now I'm well over 600 for the year. 160 for the system and 40 for linking with Club Nintendo. Pretty nice!
If I get this second set of 40 coins that some of you are talking about, that'll really be overkill.

Platinum! So have they said anything about letting third parties give coins too since they announced that they had the idea?
Didn't some people report that third party 3DS games can be registered?
And all WiiWare and VC games have post-play surveys.
Not all. I've never had a post play for a VC game, to my knowledge. I have Super Metroid, Punch Out featuring Mr. Dream, Sim City, Toejam and Earl...I don't think I've gotten coins for any of them.
Same situation for Wiiware, I have surveys for World of Goo and Bit Trip Runner, but I don't see ones for Dr. Mario or My Life as a King.

I have gotten surveys for every game released after Club Nintendo started its services. MM9 and 10, Bit.Trip Beat, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations, and Castlevania X.

I actually did get one for My Life as the Dark Lord. WiiWare/Wii VC stuff is a little weird because I don't think they started doing those *at all* until maybe a year or two into the life of the system. So I think some games have it and some don't just based on that.
My guess is that it's a lot more likely for downloadable games since that's fairly easy to track (no need to have 3rd parties print up registration code slips or anything). I doubt you'll see it much, if at all, in retail games though. Exception however for 3rd party games published by Nintendo (to throw out an example: Dragon Quest)
I just bought Alphabounce on DSiware yesterday and all that showed up on Club Nintendo is "product registration, 0 coins." Will a post-play show up in a week, or will there be no coins as a result of the new system where everything expires three months after release rather than three years? Or is this one simply a matter of being a minor third party game that was never set up for coins?

IIRC downloadable games do not award coins until you complete the post-play survey. I think.

Okay. Somebody tell me what the hell this is:
So, the day after I registered my 3DS, I got 10 coins for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. I registered that game in 2005, and it was one of the games that didn't give any coins back when Club Nintendo started.
What is this for, then?
(also dang, Nintendo gave me 120 free coins for eShop stuff. I guess I was too quick to complain when they only gave me 160 coins for a $250 system)

Maybe that's what they're doing - they realized they gave people way too few coins for the 3DS so they're making up for it with the shop giving you lots of coins?
That or, you know, they have some big problems with the system right now haha.
Got a 3DS for my birthday!! Woo! Which means I'm 40 coins from Platinum. Hoping my link to the eShop and downloads of Excitebike register in time for July!
Also going to pick up OoT, how many coins are 3DS games giving? Should I skip downloading Excitebike so the 40 (assuming from the price) from OoT pushes me into Platinum and I can get Excitebike and the others after July 1?

30 coins for registration. They're short-changing us! You still get a post-play/early registration/intend to buy, though, so you'll be fine just from OoT.
You'll get 40 coins for linking your eShop account to Club Nintendo. So if you wait until July to do that, you'll have 80 coins for next year for free (40 bonus, and registration and post-plays for Pokedex and Excitebike). Keep in mind that these surveys will expire after 7 days, so be quick about it.

Why only 30 coins for registering 3DS games?
30 coins for registering, 20 coins for the post play survey. With a possible 10 point bonus from Intend to Buy and another 10 point bonus from Early Registration, that's a potential 70 points for a 3ds game.
I really hope the Platinum prize has something to do with this.
As for the shop itself, stuff I'd like to see:
- Tingle's Balloon Fight, or some variation thereof. I already have the Japanese version, but I wouldn't mind English. Or one which just uses the original Balloon Fighter, for that matter.
- Soundtrack CDs.
- Art books? Be nice...
- A DVD filled with classic Nintendo commercials from over the years. Maybe some other material, like print ads and marketing materials as well.
- Some sort of Nintendo Power archive volumes from way back in the day. Maybe on discs, or something. Sure, I've already got nearly every issue (save for 7 from a few years back), but having them on a disc would be great.
- Reissues of the old Applause Nintendo figurines from way back in the day.
- Exclusive t-shirts, maybe?
- Let you exchange coins for more downloads from the Wii/DSi/eShops.
And that's all I can think of, off the top of my head, that doesn't really start to venture out into more "merch" type stuff (action figures, etc.).

There are two things I want from the CN store, toys and more useable accessories. Other bonus stuff would be point cards or more games if you get enough coins.
I can't wait till the end of the month rolls along. I have a pretty decent stack of codes ready to punch in. Some of them are from 2nd-hand purchases and I don't even know if they've been redeemed already. It's like waiting for Christmas.
Finally broke down and got the Game & Watch: Ball reissue. Had to spend some coins before they expire this month, and I've procrastinated enough. This is the first item I've redeemed so far with Club Nintendo and I signed up on day one, although I kinda wish I hadn't missed out on those SMB pins. Ball was expensive, but it'll be worth it.
Now that they've started dipping their toes into rewards with CD soundtracks, I'll be hoarding my coins real hard. Got over 1100 coins left for next year, and I'm at Platinum status. I can't wait to find out what this year's Platinum reward will be.
Fuck yes!! With the linking of my 3DS, registering Ocarina of Time and the 3 titles I got off of virtual console I have the exact amount of coins required to reach platinum!
Given Nintendo is pushing the anniversary of the Zelda games something fierce this year, I wouldn't be shocked if the plat reward has something to do with that.
I'd like something that isn't a useless little figure but that would mean an accessory for a system and the only current Nintendo system I have is a DSi so I'd probably not get anything I could use.
They really just need to let you exchange coins for DSi/Wii/3DSware points.
If the plat reward is not a SNES Classic Controller, I'll be a little disappointed. Unless it's a N64 Classic Controller, then I'll be REALLY disappointed.
