I still don't get why people are cutting and running. I mean Chris keeps saying hey it's beta we're not giving out prizes, so I mean it's not like you have anything to lose.

The first time I played, I had missed the opening of the show. I thought they were giving the points and prizes away and if I'd been chosen before he said anything, I'd have probably taken the points, too... It's not like he's repeating the information before every new One is chosen.

The best sports broadcasters on the radio give out the score at fairly regular and often intervals because they cannot count that the listeners were tuning in the last time the score was announced.

1 vs 100 is like a game show where the only rules they tell you about are 'press the appropriate button at the correct time' and then humiliate you when you fail on some more obscure yet 'obvious' rule.

Oh, so Chris' voice not playing all the time is actually a bug? I thought he was just taking one too many coffee breaks or something.

What I've noticed is that when Chris is talking, there's a red "ON AIR" graphic in the bottom left corner of the screen. There have been times when the game has "sent it over to Chris" and that graphic hasn't appeared, so I was assuming he was taking a break or whatever during that time. I don't think I've ever seen it and not heard him talk, so if that's what's happening for you, it's probably a bug.

Aaaaaaand there goes my interest in this, looks like this might not be free after all and we'll have to "pay to play" essentially.

Oh fuck that. I hope primetime pass is something that a silver member can buy, to JUST play 1 vs 100, and that its still free to Gold members.

Slowtaku strikes again. That option has been up forever and MS has already stated they haven't made up their minds yet, but I imagine they need some way of testing the system no matter what choice they end up with

A season pass might just let us skip ads but, I would say that if they are going to charge me, that each person who pays need a shot at being in the mob or the one, otherwise people are going to feel screwed.

Wait- if they charge for it wouldn't it be gambling at that point?

I'll throw up an opinion too. The season pass would make a lot of sense to give silver members a way to cheaply subscribe to the game by the season. My other theory would be since they're planning other games for the channel, maybe it is an option to allow you to subscribe to the game for a season meaning you don't have to sift through all the games listed on the schedule to set up reminders. It would be an easy quick way to just set them up for the several months of play all at once.

With all the other free services they're adding to Gold, and the big deal they made last year, and even fairly recently about it being free to gold members too, I just can't see them going back on it now.

Yeah, this is the issue here. There's states except from the Download and Win gamerpics that you can grab because they consider it gambling or gaming (usually it is states that have very big casino industries in them, basically the laws are paid er written so that it's hard for businesses that are not the casinos to operate)

My guess is if MS goes through with payment, it'll either be

    1) a way for silver users to a la carte their gold membership

    2) only people who buy a season pass can be the 1 or the 100 (everyone else can be in the crowd and get achievements though)

    3) they have other game shows in the works and they'll require the pass (might be needed to bring certain shows over; I know Sprint has paid something like 1-2 million dollars to get that theater named after them in-game)

They honestly might have a hard time finding a game as crowd appropriate as 1 VS 100 with the number of players they tend to get every night, especially during the live games. Price Is Right would actually work kind of well, but it doesn't cycle through the big number of players that 1 Vs 100 does. I kind of wonder if there's another game that could allow as many players to get pushed through as real players in a single 2 hour session.

I know it's been mentioned, but I want to reiterate. If not You Don't Know Jack, they need to get Jellyvision to work on something for this service.

Yeah, giving Silver an option for just Primetime makes a lot of sense. If they're going for that casual audience, they need a way to let them play Primetime stuff without having to pay the price for a full Gold subscription. Even among gamers there's a reluctance to pay for Gold - if you present the general audience with that fee there's no way they'll sign up.

I would suspect something like that would bring fence sitters to cave and subscribe to Gold. It's not like the price is that high, and if you're already willing to pay half of it (or whatever it is) just for Primetime stuff, I'd say you might as well go all the way for not much more.

EDIT: Man did I suck last night. I did manage to get a couple of 10 Q streaks going, but I got some easy questions wrong by jumping the gun with my answers, or not reading the questions carefully enough.

"How many people can play Goldeneye 007 at one time?" I answered one because I read it as how many actors can play James Bond at one time. Of course, the answer was 4. Duh.

There were also some really tough ones. "What element is a metalloid when at room temperature?" The answer was Thorium. Huh?

I think people want something to win. Some people don't want the beta. They want it to be out, now.

I don't mind the beta but they could of given us all like 100 ms points if you go to enough of the live sessions.

Still bugs me that Extended Play, apparently used to determine who plays in the Mob or The One, scales up in difficulty every 37 questions. But on the Live 'broadcast', they're all relatively simple and only occasionally difficult if it's a question on a subject outside of your knowledge.

At least it is that way for me. It's like they're trying to make it really hard (or just really lucky) to qualify, and then make it really easy to win. Which is then odd to see the players do so poorly 'live'.

Ok so I'm trying to play during the Beta Extended Play and every time the game is about to start I try to download it and it says "can't download Beta General Trivia"...WHY?!??! I have tried for the 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 games...all the same result. I have a Gold Membership, I am in the US. Wtf?

How about not being able to play much of the extended plays at all due to RL but having plenty of free time when the live shows come along. I'm to the point of saying, "Hey! Why are the people who play extended play all the time so special?

But then I remember it's just a game and that when push comes to shove, I don't give a fuck...especially now with no prizes at stake

That kitty litter question caught me out (the only thing I know about toxoplasmosis is that I think it was the disease on a House episode once), but since I was only in the Crowd (as usual; it would be nice to get in the Mob at least for once) it didn't matter.

Also, for some reason it strikes me as hilarious when the One only gets to answer one or two questions and then disconnects even though they're winning. I actually like it that people keep picking the money (even though no prizes are being given away) because it makes the rounds go by a bit faster.
